  1. I'm only 10 minutes into the OP video and (honestly after minute 1) I can already connect the dots to that other video of the plant manager praising his Haitian workers and saying how they don't have drug problems and actually show up to work........ and every Springfield resident he's interviewing. That woman with black lipstick complaining about the Haitians getting government payroll and she can't find a job..... trick it looks like nobody on your porch has laid off of a needle in the past 6 years, that might have something to do with you not having a job.
  2. I assume people took that tired (false) notion that we were complaining about teams taunting us with Horns Down in the Big 12, and fans now think our feelings get hurt over it. I throw my horns up because 1. I am a Longhorn 2. I have pride in being a Texas Ex and Longhorn. They throw it down because they want to show they despise my mascot/team? I guess. What you think about my team and school is really none of my business.
  3. Popping into the thread to see what the temperature is like for these semifinal matches. I hadn't watched tennis in about 20 years since I was a kid watching the Williams sisters play at Wimbledon during my summer boredom (at my grandma's house where only broadcast TV was available). The girlfriend is a big tennis fan, and seeing as It is undefeated, I found myself invested in Wimbledon this year, and now following along to the U.S. Open. And rooting for Americans, fresh off the Olympic bug. Tiafoe is my favorite to watch (to these untrained eyes). I had forgotten how much talent is on the court as well. Doesn't hurt to watch Sabalenka, Paolini, Badosa, etc. But obvs I'll also be rooting for the American women today.
  4. The story isn't over. It's written in the stars. ND's cupcake schedule is going to get them matched up with us in the playoffs and we're going to smoke their asses. Shortly after taking a midfield shit on EA Sports' "toughest place to play" in the last game of the regular season.
  5. Weigmann sharing Dave Campbell's cover with Ewers is going to age as stupidly as Reggie McNeal (or whichever of their ass QBs) that shared the cover with Vince.
  6. Jalen Milroe and Jalen Hurts were triple the QB that dude will ever hope to be, and we did fine against them. That was a different coach and different era. We're going to push the shit in of that Big 10 offense and then run our speed all over them when we get it.
  7. Colorado down 3 at halftime to an FCS team, and looks exactly like the 2nd-tier early 2000s Big 12 team they were last year...... But all the talk is about how incredible Shedeur is and how the fucking kicker gets his own entrance music. ESPN really going to hype them up until that 4th loss hits before November.
  8. THIS is the extra sugar Kool-Aid I've been waiting for all offseason. Something of substance to get me hyped up for the season. Could make a huge difference in our defense going from good to great. A lot of the 9.95er-speak is the same "camp battle" gibberish that is easy to skim through, but hearing a senior defensive lineman is growing into a leader and impact player is something that transpires at Texas fairly often, we need it from Collins and/or Broughton this year.
  9. My dad's from Kingsville (he and my brother took a few credits from A&I), and he's been saying for a couple years this might do in A&I. They really don't seem to be on the way up much, and D2 doesn't seem to be sustainable. It's weird seeing teams that used to be mainstays on the Javelina's schedule (and were often under the Javs in the standings) move up to greener pastures. I guess it's all about resources at that level. Kingsville also being a stagnant town probably doesn't help. UTRGV grows, and less Valley kids will want to move to Kingsville. Same with TAMUCC.
  10. EOSE up over 2.50 now. I have my trigger set at 2.65 for a small chunk, then I'll let the rest ride. Averaged it down to 1.31 over the past year, so I'll take a double up and hope for a quadruple up long-term.
  11. A full two weeks earlier than last year? I like it. Hopefully we have something to play for. I went last year and didn't realize it was one of the last 2-3 games of the season. It was cool seeing Ant Edwards, but I could tell Pop was ready for his vacation because he had very little give a shit to the proceedings on the court. Everybody was ready to get back to SA. Much different than the game I went to in San Antonio, where Pop got on the mic and told me and everyone to stop booing Kawhi.
  12. I swore off of Fox 7 about 4-5 years ago from this same shit. The national FOX spin has been going on for a while, it's not new. I was a morning news fan of theirs for a good year or two, mostly just to see Tania Ortega in action around town, but after a few instances of them sharing obviously slanted bullshit from the national cable station, I decided that was enough. I liked their anchor, forget the white dude's name, he seemed like a cool dad and sports fan, but them sharing national stories with a Fox Cable News spin was bullshit. It's 2024, the media problems in this country are well documented by now.
  13. I thought I remembered reports on him last year always being a bit hot/cold, like he wasn't always on the same page as the coaches. IIRC. Them trying to get more out of him and whatnot.
  14. The girl I'm dating has been singing her for months now, and the Red Wine Supernova song got a catchy hook (the other 2 or 3 I've heard are very meh), but I cannot stand the "let's go girls!" talking/chanting/ranting on the tracks. Something about the theater kid energy and kidz bop backup singing/chanting turns me off. Also seems unoriginal like a throwback straight to the 80s (Cyndi Lauper vibes). I've been a huge Kendrick Lamar fan since his first run leading up to his first album, but when he dropped "To Pimp A Butterfly" I was comfortable skipping it, because it seemed like a very targeted album to Black folk and Black issues.... Chapell Roan seems very targeted to girls and gays, and I'm fine letting them have it. Not everything is made for me obviously. I'll be glad to get over to the Miller Lite stage early for the Remi Wolf set Weekend 2 at ACL. She's another 20-something pop artist who has a lot more funk, groove, and originality than what I've heard from Roan so far. Not to shit on her entirely, she's not blowing up because she's talentless.
  15. Probably my favorite running gag. He sounded so horrible, and had 3 or 4 different accents going the whole time. Saw it tonight, thoroughly enjoyed. Haven't enjoyed a superhero movie this much in a good while.
  16. Also the dumbest captain we've ever had. A man of many faces.
  17. Best Captain Austin FC's ever had. Even if he's not the player he used to be.
  18. Quinn was asked early about Connor Weigman, and I'm assuming another aggy showed up late and asked him again 15 minutes later about his relationship with Conor Wiegman. Who tf cares if they're friends or not? They're so damn desperate for validation.
  19. Saw him open for Parker McCollum a couple years ago in the first year of the Moody Center. He played either El Rey or Volver, Volver (or both?) to a packed house. Loved that he'll do it on the big stage and the small, he's a true Border Kid.
  20. Damn, don't got to say much other than that to share my thoughts. It's 1 year, we weren't winning the championship next year. Fuck it. Just don't leave a choking, flopping stench when you leave. Pick up after yourself and don't stain the jersey.
  21. I'm more patient than most, it just hurts to punt a #8 pick. We rarely pick that high, obviously lucked out with Wemby, then find ourself with two more Top 8 picks, when for years we were searching for diamonds in the 15-28 range (thinking of the years of Walker, White, Murray, etc. as our first round picks). I get that the draft was weak, but sure seemed like we needed that infusion of talent that HAD to have been better than having our bench full of guys we just promoted from G league (Champaignie, Wesley, Barlow, etc.). But if PATFO is confident that this will lead to even better talent next year, then so be it I guess. Without a couple of summer vets, this year will be another "patient" year as Wemby tries to carry us to another 10-15 wins though. IMO.
  22. I think your daughter might be in our department (or at least contacted us about a class). My coworker was telling us a semester or two ago about the cool student she spoke to that was working around a touring schedule. That's awesome, congrats to her and you.
  23. I've been somewhat considering moving back to Houston in the near future and UH does a hybrid schedule as well, as does UH-CL (which is a lot bigger than when I last lived there 15 years ago).
  24. This is 1000% where my head is. I'm staff, and will have my WFH cut because of this (if I can't find a job by August 19th). The other kick in the nuts is that at the same Staff Council meeting they discussed this months ago, they also noted that the University's merit pool is also being de-funded. CSU's will have to fund it themselves (easy, right?). I have no doubt that whatever budget man Hartzell hired was brought in to make corporate-style cuts to services and staff. Thus, this policy. It's completely in line with what the corporate overlords want, which is what Greg wants, which is JH's directive. Which usually means being an absolute piece of shit to staff and making it clear that they aren't welcome. They'll leave a percentage of the jobs unfilled, those that they do fill will be less-skilled and paid less. So do I stay in my student-facing role with a bled-out team that will be overworked and understaffed with the next person who quits (hopefully me first)? Or head to greener pastures. God fucking forbid I hang on to the sliver of hope that I could make a career out of trying to help college students figure out their lives. I just got my 10-year staff service award sent to me last month too. Invited to the President's award ceremony for light snacks and a speech from the man himself. Kiss my ass. He was already on my shit list for being Abbott's lackey. No way in hell I was showing up to hear him spill platitudes out the side of his mouth where Greg's dick isn't.
  25. I generally liked it, a solid B+ summer light-hearted flick, but I can also realize the "point" of the movie had nothing to do with the Hit Man aspect (and TM article) but was rather to spoon-feed us some more Glen Powell as a leading man. The "Gary is such a dork" parts were eye-rolling, it's obviously just Glen doing his 'aw shucks I'm not charismatic' routine and we're to pretend if someone asked us to visualize a community college philosophy professor, his face would come up? Whatever. I had fun in between the eye rolls. And if anything novel came out of the movie to me, it would be Adria. God Damn.
