  1. Haha. Like, seriously guys, anywhere else but the nucleus of the football program. What could we do, and where could we do it, to show the entire football program how little we care about being here?
  2. This was the class where aggy didn't even have a defensive coordinator yet they were landing Top 100 commitments on defense. Between all the defections during year 1 and the Denver Harris/Fast and Furious jokes, this ended up being a really strong class for Surly purposes.
  3. Maybe it's hazy hindsight and optimism speaking, but I felt like Muschamp's energy infused the entire team, not just the defense. Those 08-09 defenses were nasty. 2010 defense was pretty good, too, but had its back against the wall all season due to... reasons.
  4. What a surprise! I figured Muschamp would never come back to Texas because of the rumored screwing around with the rumored HCIW designation 15 years ago (time flies when Texas football is mediocre for a decade!). My assumption is this will resonate with the Georgia and other SEC territory commits and recruits. Tyler Atkinson can be unleashed to his full ass kicking potential.
  5. That is illuminating. Texas is in Washington State territory. For portal reasons (recognizing that RB may already be spoken for), I would be interested in knowing what's more about players to helped their teams over that elite tier 3.5 YAC line. ULM, for example, looks like they were RB by committee with a pretty big committee. I wonder how that UNT RB would translate against better defenses (freshman Hawkins, 200 carries 6.2/carry, from Shawnee, OK).
  6. ***Insert Thujone panel from the Vince Young - Titans storyboard, image of Kerry Collins-thrown football bouncing off the moon.***
  7. That's a comically large basketball player logo on a football.
  8. He's a huge fan of competitive adult cheerleading.
  9. Speaking as a mere spectator who doesn't film reporters in the bathroom, the short-medium passing game can set a foundation for the offense in modest doses but can't be all that Texas relies on. The offense will have to find something else that works to keep the Vandy LBs and safeties honest. Caldwell can write his name into Texas history if he can lead this offense to victory. Maybe he can use his legs a few times to sustain enough drives to rest the defense and put enough on the board to stress the Vandy. I'm a dumbass and, therefore, an optimist before every season and game. So, my untechnical optimism tells me the defense will put a fence around Pavia and get some hits in early, the defense will bend and not break, and big, stupid hope incoming... Moseley and Caldwell will have a rapport from the start, and Baxter will be productive enough to keep Wisner fresh. Niblett will do something spectacular for a fourth game in a row.
  10. Pos rep for the critique. I agree, Sark seems to impose a strict throttle on the freshmen offensive positions. There are plenty of 2nd and 3rd year players habitually falling for the banana in the tailpipe, so why not develop an on-ramp for some of these true freshmen? The T-Birds (Townsend and Terry) ought to be taken for a test drive. What's under the hood? Is Ffrench a Bugatti or a Citroen? McCutcheon could be clutch, but we need to see more.
  11. Advising PK on how to get the most out of Colin Simmons by shifting him wide as a Jumbo Corner.
  12. Baxter looked big, strong and fast against Alabama in 2023. Or maybe my memory has failed me. I think he got dinged up late first half or early second half.
  13. Urban heat effect would be a good topic to study if he decides to go for his fourth masters degree.
  14. As detailed on this or some other thread this week, Texas struck out on DL/DE in 2022 and 2023. The running defense is not the same as the last two years. I think seeing Baugh wiggle through to open field over and over was tougher to watch than the big pass completions. He only averaged 4 yd/carry but it seemed like he converted a lot of first downs and otherwise helped keep Florida on schedule throughout the game. Baugh had 107 against Texas. Miami and LSU each held him to under 50.
