  1. Yeah it would. The economics seem to have changed quite a bit since Covid. I wish I still had some of the paperwork we got from the big agencies. I remember being surprised by some of the numbers - some more than expected, some less. Probably not surprising that the bigger nationally recognizable touring acts were $100K plus.
  2. When I was involved in a money losing music promotion venture out in Midland a decade ago we got to see the going rates for a lot of bands. Texas bands who you’ve heard of (think Ray Wylie Hubbard, lower level Texas country bands) were in the $5-10K range. Any national level act whose name you’ve heard was $15-20K plus. I believe we got Avett Bros for $30-40K and that was a discount because we caught them in a convenient spot in between shows. I suspect 38 Special was somewhere between $25-50K.
  3. Jealous. We've seen them in Brooklyn, Austin, New Orleans and Dublin and had a blast each time.

Ha! Yeah, my wife was with me which cut down on the creeper photos. Didn’t want to risk the side eye from her. Google is your friend.

Had some health issues this week so haven’t made it out much like I wanted to. Did make it down to SXSJ for a bit yesterday. Saw part of cumgirl8’s set. Not that musically impressive but they were an eyeful for sure - felt like I was at a strip club. My fun discovery was Native Sun out of NYC at Radio East this afternoon. Rowdy grunge/punk rock and roll and a lot of fun.

That’s hilarious. I almost went to this actually, would’ve been another old white lawyer, but work unfortunately intervened. Looks like a pretty cool dive bar.

That’s the one I’m using. Think I’m gonna hit this show on Thursday night after the day show at C-Boys.
  8. Nirvana is perfect for this topic. Loved their sound, couldn’t quote one lyric.
  9. I'm kinda sorta one of these types. Music is mostly about a vibe for me. I almost always either instantly love or hate a song based on "how it sounds" and whether it strikes an emotional chord with me or not. Yes there are songs where I love the lyrics, but I'm rarely drawn to a song for that. Unless it was written by John Prine or Townes Van Zandt.

I’ll definitely be checking some of this out. Had a lot of fun there last year.
  11. Saw Black Pumas at the new/old Stable Hall at the Pearl in San Antonio last weekend. Great show, fantastic venue. Highly recommend seeing a show there if you get a chance.
  12. I went last night. Thought Paack was decent, wouldn't mind checking them out at their residency at Saxon. I'm not a Doobie Brothers fan, but went as a favor to a friend. Their voices were surprisingly good, but their music does absolutely nothing for me and it just seems all over the map - is it 70s rock anthems? Yes. Is it the occasional attempt at actually rocking out with some 70s psychedelia? Yes. Is it Michael McDonald 80s yacht rock? Yes. Is it mostly just kinda boring pop rock? Yes.
  13. We did it a few years ago with a small group and didn't make any watching location reservations. Ended up one day at Tilted Kilt and wandering around from bar to bar and sports book to sports book another day. Tilted Kilt was packed but not bad. We were able to find a 4 top and the rest of the group used that to hold their drinks while they stood. In hindsight I would definitely reserve a watch location for at least one day. Didn't really feel like I did it right just wandering around and ended up missing a lot of the action.
  14. Through 3 episodes of Beef. Fairly dark and depressing and looks like it may get moreso. Don't really need that in my life right now, but I'll probably finish it out.
  15. I want to go, but trying to stick to a budget that doesn't allow for ticket purchases right now. If you have a couple freebies that need a home, I'm your man.
  16. If you listened to Arch’s interview, he talked about what good buddies he and Quinn are and they room on the road. I suspect they’re getting a good laugh at all of this stupid shit.
  17. Yup, prices on their way down now that folks have their tickets in hand. Anyone have a feel for what face value was for the varies levels? I'm holding out for 300 or lower, but really don't want to pay anywhere close to what folks are asking now.
  18. Thanks. I guess we're not exactly in the same spot - just above where you were in 211
  19. Looks like your seats were about exactly where mine are. Thanks for the pics and vid. Looks amazing.
  20. They put on a great show. Saw them in Austin and then in New Orleans before LCD Soundsystem last summer. Always a good time. I'm going to U2 at the Sphere in Vegas this Saturday night. I don't really listen to U2 any more, grown bored of them, but I'm going for the spectacle. I suspect I'll enjoy it.
  21. Great show. Definitely would’ve been better at ACL Live but still had a blast. Parking at Manor Garage ended up perfect. Super easy in and out.
