  1. Do you get cash back with this card? If you don't, that needs to figure into the annual cost. My personal inclination on these cards, is that I don't want to deal with having to keep up with the benefits to make good use out of them. I'd rather think about something else, so I just get a decent cash back card, then spend that on whatever perks that card has, or something I actually want more. And maybe that benefit carrot hanging in front of you makes you pick a restaurant, hotel, or something else that isn't really what you want, just so you can claim a credit. To me, worrying about whether you get enough $ back is a waste of time. The plan is probably designed to lure you into spending too much anyways, which makes it even less of a 'deal'. So I'd only care about the non-financial benefits, and decide if those were worth the fee.
  2. They have already had radioactive alligators for decades. https://theaugustapress.com/radioactive-mercurial-alligators-once-roamed-srs/ https://srel.uga.edu/testing-toxic-cleanups-one-gator-at-a-time/
  3. What if there is lasagna though?
  4. I was just about to ask this with the Dumb Questions Amnesty qualifier.
  5. This was an interesting photo of Diego Garcia, from about a month ago.
  6. As a fraction/proportion of the capacity, both would be the same.
  7. If they are the same depth, then the surface area should have the same proportion to capacity in both.
  8. June 22 1941 is probably the single most disastrous day in Russian military history, it would make a good analogy.
  9. Not having aerial refueling on AF1 seems completely incomprehensible to me.

So, they aimed it at the Indian Ocean ok, and not much other success?
  11. Yep. After the one in Japan/Korea, FIFA came to their senses and decided to never ever do another World Cup that spanned borders. Now they have lost their senses again, and in this climate it will be a disaster.
  12. It needs a split thumb. Like the 'Da Vinci' painting the Saudi's have.
  13. Username and avatar check out.
  14. What source is there that this was TATP? And fwiw that is way way more hazardous than picric acid.
  15. Since they really are aiming for the 1800's, back then interest rates were like 3-4 percent I think, so at least we got that going for us...
  16. The treasury bonds are not callable by the holder, rather the US government must pay interest over the full term (up to 30 years), then pays back the principal at the end. So China (or anybody else) cannot force the US government to pay early. What they CAN do is stop buying more US treasury bonds. If we did try and default on paying them, that would cause an economic disaster that would make this current one seem like chump change. So we will probably try that next.
  17. 10-Year ain't cash. 3 to 6 month is cash-equivalent, but 10 years is different.
  18. This. Berkshire Hathaway is mostly an insurance company, followed by a diverse collection of wholly owned companies, that followed by a probably less diverse collection of public shares in companies.
  19. Per this link, urine is about 9.3 g urea/liter, so a little less than 1%. So you need maybe 35 times as much volume. You will add a lot of salt which probably borks things up, but you do you. More beer probably won't help though, that just means you pee more water, and there is probably not much (if any) increase in the amount of dissolved solids, they just get diluted more. https://chem.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Introductory_Chemistry/Fundamentals_of_General_Organic_and_Biological_Chemistry_(LibreTexts)/29%3A_Body_Fluids/29.08%3A_Urine_Composition_and_Function
  20. Hey, props to Helobious for actually recognizing that he did not know something. I doubt that ChickenSandwich will ever have nearly that much self-awareness.
  21. This would work just fine, unfortunately. Ma Ferguson out front should have told you...
  22. Check the date. I hope so, anyways...
  23. To make things more interesting, there are currently at least 3 (and up to 7) B-2 bombers that have been staged to Diego Garcia, away from the US base where they normally are based. There are 3 aircraft visible in satellite photos, parked right next to the 4 special purpose hangars built for the B-2, which might well also have a B-2 inside right now. Apparently, as they were flying out that way, the B-2 were communicating on open frequencies, so people could identify the call signs as B-2 aircraft. Not sure if that is typical or not, but aircraft nerds or such managed to pick up at least 5 call signs for B-2 aircraft, one of which had to make an emergency landing at Pearl Harbor.
  24. I have only been to Quito and the mountains, so I don't know about Guayaquil particularly, but based on my experience in the country: An amazing variety of fruits. Breakfast may include both the fruit directly and juices. Some familiar, some you have never heard of. Besides breakfast, there was a great variety of fruit flavored ice cream. I wish I had tried a lot more of those, both for the variety, and also the names were often different than I was used to. E.g. strawberry was fruitilla not fresa.
