  1. There is a difference between a play being covered or the receiver falling down and then scrambling to make the best of it, versus not giving the play a chance to develop and just running. Anybody should be fine with the first, and generally not okay with the second. If Arch is doing the second, that is on Sark to adjust the offense to something he can execute.
  2. I didn't see the question or context, but it makes sense to me if he is saying just because we can out athlete UTEP or Sam Houston, doesn't mean we should and ignore execution. What happens when you play a team with equivalent athletes? A team with equivalent athletes that can also execute...sounds a lot like Washington with Penix, Georgia, and Ohio State. Isn't the biggest knock on Sark that he can recruit and develop, but in the big games we seem to be a couple plays behind.
  3. These things can all be simultaneously true. - Arch is shitting the bed, is extremely inconsistent, but it is primarily mental/nerves. - Some of our more talented and/or experienced players on offense have been injured and held out. It is appropriate to wonder about the balance between letting guys rest for a long season and needed live reps to build execution. - There are position groups, primarily OL, where there is a talent and/or development issue that can't be fixed during the season. I do think they are in a try everything and anyone mode for these three games, knowing that they aren't in actual danger of losing. They should get more efficient when they tighten up the rotation and gameplan for the opponents. Arch may completely meltdown and get benched for the year, he could come back after the bye looking like he did last year, or most likely something in between. Buckle up.
  4. Interesting that Arch has been terrible but he still has a higher QB rating than Lagway, Nussmeier, Klubnik, and Leavitt.
  5. According to FPI (which isn't great this early in the season, but just go with it for now) ND would be a 13 point favorite over USF on a neutral field. It doesn't sound crazy to me that ND is receiving more votes.
  6. I'm not as high on the TEs as some of you apparently are. Maybe it is because we haven't targeted them enough in the passing game, but I feel like when we go 12 personnel that just brings one more defender into the box, and now we have to execute seven blocks to have a successful run, and chances are one of of the seven will get beat. Maybe it would still be mediocre, but I'd like to see 11 personnel, flex Endries out and then run the backs with Arch as a backside constraint.
  7. Ohio State has only won 3 national championships in the last 50 years. They have had a lot of really good seasons that didn't end on the mountaintop.
  8. This tracks with how I feel. Outside of a couple of key plays, we are the equal or even outplay Georgia and Ohio State level teams. But so far we have come up short on those key plays in every game against top talent since 2023 Alabama.
  9. I'm not saying I think he needs to hire an OC, but I do wonder what does he do when the defense is on the field? Does he follow the game and the defense, or does he discuss with the other offensive coaches what the guys in the press box are seeing, talk strategy for the next drive, etc. Seems like if he is focused on the game and the defense he is at a disadvantage compared to having a dedicated OC.
  10. Should Ohio State be concerned that they only had 203 yards and out of 9 real drives, only 2 went for more than 21 yards, with one of those being assisted by a penalty that overturned a third down stop?
  11. I know they have two new coordinators, but wasn't the Ohio St coaching staff on track to seriously underperform with by far the most talented team last year, until after the Michigan loss they made major changes on both sides of the ball? Just curious if that was an aberration or if we could see it again this year.
  12. Is there any fanbase in the country that wouldn't trade these penalties for a national championship.
  13. Can you explain why that would matter?
  14. Now would be a great time for Stockton to be a bust and Georgia to go 8-4.
  15. Did he mention where we are doing the hill work?
  16. Thinking about going to the Kentucky game this year, is there a separate thread for sharing tips about travel, tailgate, etc?
  17. I actually thought you had meant to say Kirby Smart was jealous, but had mistyped it as Kirby Lane. It was actually just normal misspelling, how disappointing.
  18. They are more famous for pancakes, not waffles, but I can see why Luke Wafle brought you there.
  19. So in order to pay out the $20.5 million in House money, they need to raise $14 million in new funding, and then existing AD revenue and/cost cutting will provide the remaining $6.5 million?
  20. If you had to pick one of those that will be off by the most....Alabama?
  21. 6-1 Liberty after 3.
  22. Arkansas closes with Tennessee and LSU closes with South Carolina, so probably best case is LSU goes 2-1 since they might sweep SC.
  23. Guilbeau in the 2nd is the biggest WTF to me.
