My bad. You watched a video of someone calling a black couple n*****s, and your first thought was "I certainly hope people don't overreact to this. Let's make sure we get the full story." I'm sure you think that makes you the reasonable person in this discussion, which is something else you have in common with the Cinnabon lady.

My guess it's because your first reaction to seeing was the video was to speculate what the black couple did wrong. So, yeah, fuck you you racist piece of shit.

That's the kind of question one might ask of a 17th century British monarchy. Here in our modern democracy, the "power of the purse" has been assumed by our Dear Leader.
  4. She has trouble counting beyond 18, and that's with both shoes off.
  5. So, rather than simply waiting for more "narcoterrorists" to show up in an area that you have complete control over, our military decided to murder the survivors? Their defense is their incompetence mitigates their war crimes.

The good news is that most car companies still want to sell their cars in California. Unless the Trump administration is successful in preventing the state EPAs from having more restrictive requirements, they are still going to design to gas mileage standards.
  7. Being a British paper, I am sure most of the readers just think "yeah, they're hiring Americans?"
  8. One of the challenges that Trump is going to face is enough of his supporters are stupid enough to believe he will, or even should, reverse inflation - that things will go back to what they cost in 2019. I heard it plenty of times with Biden : "He keeps saying that inflation is under control, but prices are still so high." The goal shouldn't be deflation; it should be having wage growth higher than inflation.
  9. The phrase "all politics is local" is officially retired.
  10. Bradley's resume is full of SEAL positions. As I mentioned upthread, I think those missions have much more grey area on the rules of engagement. But fuck him if he can't distinguish sending small crews into enemy territory from stopping a completely outgunned boat in waters you control He deserves to go to prison. I stumbled across this article the US Naval Institute that I found interesting that discusses the previous approach. Excerpt below.
  11. A couple of recent articles on Holsey: 1. From December 1st, the military announced when he will actually hand over his command- Dec 12th. He announced his retirement in October, but the timing wasn't announced. I think they accelerated his departure after the news of the second strike broke. 2. The Wall Street Journal just ran an article saying that Holsey was pushed into retirement, after "a culmination of months of discord." That absolutely sounds like damage control. Not only does it reduce the speculation that Holsey retired due to the strikes, it establishes a motive for why he might lie. (I don't have a WSJ sub to share the article or read much past the headline. Fuck Murdoch.)
  12. Anyone with first-hand knowledge can't say that publicly without going to prison because I'm sure it's all classified. I'm betting there are a few people waiting for a subpoena. Admiral Holsey is probably checking his mailbox 3 times a day.

43% of respondents don't like him because he is too much of a Nazi. 10% don't like him because he's not Nazi enough.
  14. Maybe. But that doesn't change the vote nor Trump's predictable response to it.
  15. Except for the Epstein files. Johnson tried to block it, but he couldn't control the entire caucus. That's what Stafanik means about not being effective.
  16. I'd say the Republicans have underperformed in every election since 2016 in which Trump wasn't on the ballot. Even the 2022 "red wave" was pretty anemic. Which may present some challenges for them going forward. But, they still have the red state gerrymandering advantage in the House, the small state advantage in the Senate and electoral college, and of course SCOTUS.

No, they know we don't. That's why they are pushing for it - to suppress the vote. See also poll taxes, tests, closing of voting locations, ID requirements, purging registration rolls, etc..

Well, and the ADA would absolutely require some access other than going up the Manitou Incline. Which is fine, except when the whole point is to have some sort of glorious entrance for the powerful. It's hard to recreate that running squads of elderly dignitaries up elevators. Evacuation procedures would also get interesting.

If this thing ever gets built, I propose that Senators are required to take their oath in the ballroom. Those stairs should help reduce the average age by a couple of decades.

One of the funny aspects of the big tech world is how baseball caps, ironic shirts, and beards became the new costume for wealth. If you show up to Google in a suit, people are going to ask what you're selling. My firm actually got negative feedback because one of our project managers wore a tie. It's just another stupid, arbitrary dress code.

Inflation, by it's nature, is a rate. There is no inflation for "today". There always has to be a delta t. And, yes, prices are higher in blue states. That's because it's where people want to live. That's how the free market works: price is a reflection of the perceived worth amongst the consumers. I am paying considerably more to live in Washington than I did in Nebraska. For me politics is part of the value I get for living in Washington, but I recognize for others there are usually other factors like career opportunities, big city appeal, and natural beauty.
  22. If you check their net worth, it all makes more sense. That is the only measure of worth. Doesn't matter if you are drug trafficker, a Muslim, a Communist, an immigrant, or a pedophile. If you have money, Trump wants to hang with you. If you are poor, you are worthless.

Do you think if they put on a suit they would suddenly understand how an airport works?

Do they need to be dry-cleaned like suits?
