  1. It’s ok to have other “favorites” IMO. Once Dad had players possibly on TV each weekend for Tennessee, on the Jefferson Pilot Broadcast (old WTBS) I really became a fan of Tennessee. It always seamed like (80s) all of their games home/away were on TV. Hook’em!!! Shit my Dad was my HS FBHC and I begged him to order Black Nike’s for my Senior year! At the time there was only like 4-5 “Blue Bloods” wearing black shoes. We were like a “service academy” running a variation of the Wishbone anyways. I got my way and we might’ve looked slow AF, but we looked good IMO. Hook’em!!!
  2. I won’t go there, as I’ve been drinking and I love Surly. Hook’em!!!
  3. Just want the possible best in this situation for Tennessee. Neyland is awesome in the Fall as a CFB fan. Didn’t ride a boat to the experience in the mid -‘80s, but was an awesome experience and stepped on one or two docked boats. And I was a youngster, with eyes wide open! Hook’em!!!
  4. Wrong source for feedback on the topic. And I really like Mike as a person/coach. Hook’em!!!
  5. Damn - talking about pre planning. Put their card in your wallet prior to going out. Hook’em!!!
  6. All four played for my Dad at DeSoto in the early ‘80s. Hook’em!!
  7. No bump, but quality (local) school, that “maybe” should’ve gone there from the start? I know the lure of Neyland, as my Dad has coached players in HS that went to Tennessee. The UCLA home (light blue) colors are Top 5 -IMO of CFB uniforms. Then you get to play half your games in the Rose Bowl? I’d take a small pay cut to come back home and participate in that. They just need “something” to put butts in the seats of the RB! Frankly, it’s been embarrassing the last couple years when the TV cameras span out. Hook’em!!!
  8. The whole time I was supposed to be finding the “diamond in the rough” Chem E major at McNeese. I wasn’t a CE, but they knew I finished there and lived there for a decade+ plus for the relationship building. We usually get 1 or 2 McNeese interns each summer to come to SA. Maybe 1-3 UT students. The majority are aggy or dirt burglers - yuck!!! Hook’em!!!
  9. As a small individual $$ donor, as well as my employer’s campus wide $$$, I had access more than others in the 2010’s to McNeese. Ed O off the field was as personable as one could get. He always remembered my name and etc, as if he was recruiting me. And this is while he’s trying to watch his sons practice/play. Hook’em!!!
  10. Have you heard the Ogre sing online? Nothing but Coonass Comical! I laugh, but he did send both of his boys to my McNeese Cowboys. While at LSU Coach O was “present” at his Boys practices, scrimmages, and games as time would allow. Sometimes arriving on the field level for just the 2nd half. A reporter once asked the Ogre why he didn’t just let his boys walk-on at LSU? He frankly said, because my boys wanted to play ball! They couldn’t have done that at LSU! Hook’em!!!
  11. Kind of like a barrel “exploding” at the gun range. Hook’em!!!
  12. Even though they have a tough schedule, I say 8, counting Bowl victory. Seven or less, counting Bowl win isn’t going to cut it - IMO. Hook’em!!!
  13. SBB - y’all just need something “electric,” in order to get butts in the seats, besides the every other year USC matchup. Maybe the “local” kid can do it? Hook’em!!!
  14. I hope the best for you (SBB) and Nico, if it pans out. I know it’s been a rough decade+ for y’all (we can feel your pain post 2010), but to wear one of the best uniforms on TV (lighter blue) and to get to play half your games in the Rose Bowl! As an older guy, those two would be a recruiting advantage IMO. Hook’em!!!
  15. Our seats back in 2013, when they celebrated the 50th Anniversary of 1963 in week one (NMSU). Old video board compared to today, but the first time I could ever take a picture of my Dad on it, while sitting in the NEZ. He’d never been on there before, as I can’t remember what they did for the 40th (vs Arky and a game to forget.) Included grandkids with Pa prior to KO and son with David. DM was a roommate of my Dad for about a year and 1/2 in their early years. Hook’em!!!
  16. NEZ is not bad - IMO if at least 15+ rows up, especially closer to the hashes. Big board for replay and as a prior TXHS official (Umpire), that was my view on the field. From a little higher, you can really see a play open up/develop. NW corner provides shade faster for those 11/ early afternoon games. Hook’em!!!
  17. It’ll happen before aggy wins anything in the Men’s Big Three. Hook’em!!!
  18. He’s a local boy, but Rick’s son (SXM-84 on Full Ride,) said his son, on the current UCLA staff didn’t think they’d be getting Nico. Hook’em!!!
  19. Fng Tapa - COLLINS! Hook’em!!!!
  20. Cordell Stewart with his magical seasons at CU doesn’t have his # retired, but they’re going to do S Sanders as he helped put butts in the seats the last two seasons? OK Hook’em!!!
  21. No way Sanders with the retired jersey. TH I understand as he at least won the Heisman as an “electric two-way player” on a mediocre team. Sanders got them to the Alamo Bowl his last season, which BYU frankly exposed the Buffs back to mediocrity. Hook’em!!!
  22. I’ve posted this about this Dude somewhere on Surly, but late ‘90s McNeese picked up a transfer from LSU, RB Cecil “The Diesel” Collin’s. I say “transfer,” but even as electric his early career was at LSU, his pot habit and not going to class was too much. McNeese having played for the NC (‘97) made sense for a “get your shit together”spot. Fall camp and through about the 2/3rd game, on the road to either Youngstown State or Northern Iowa (somewhere up North), and after a great road win, airport security woke his stoned ass up in the empty coaches/players airport parking lot. This was hours after everyone had left and they were checking on the solo car being left behind, with nobody visible from a distance. Anyways, long story made short, 1999 Jimmy Johnson and the Dolphins drafted his ass in the 5th round! NFL and the “too great an athlete” mantra took over. That Dolphins pre-season, Collins lit it up and looked like their best RB on the roster. First couple of games into the season, after early on field success (memory is fading) maybe 3-4 games, and getting more carries each week, he F’d up again! This time he decided to enter another apartment in his complex “naked” and was seen at the foot of a couples bed. Cops got him, because he lived like two doors down. Season over! Last I heard, he was still incarcerated for some reason (Florida?). Hook’em!!!
  23. At least the dog took that guys side. Hook’em!!!
  24. Maybe New Orleans, if they’re desperate enough, with the D Carr “shoulder news” that dropped yesterday/today? Hook’em!!!
