  1. Seven point underdogs on the road in Minnesota tomorrow. Should be a beautiful day clear skies and relatively hot for Minnesota. Should be broadcast on FOX nationwide.

    Starfield

So since Microsoft bought Bethesda the people above them have made the developers finish the game before releasing it?

    Is Punk Dead?

Its hard for any age cohort group to come to terms with the cultural artifacts from their time becoming dated, meaningless, out of style. Society moves from one thing to another, it happens in waves and cycles. You don't want to turn into one of the older people who insist everything was better back in the day. Things weren't better back then. The music industry was less open, there were fewer avenues of distribution, the gatekeepers whether in print or electronic media, even venue ownership, were more powerful and in decades past they would be almost entirely white and male. If you lived through the time period you have be just a little bit critical of these things.
  4. Just finished Swamp Kings. What an amazing limited series. So great to see everything that happened behind the scenes of the classic Florida Gators teams from back in the day.

    Is Punk Dead?

When you listen to contemporary pop music, you will hear basically zero influence of the punk rock sound. The best of the decade lists that get churned out for clicks from various websites and get updated/redone every few years, each time having fewer punk releases listed as "the greatest" of the decade or period of time or whatever. The generational cohort group has grown up, the artists have grown old and their opinions change with time. Similar thing with alternative music, when the circumstances change and kids don't know what it was every an "alternative" to, it ceases to be culturally relevant. The recent punk rock museum is a good example of a place that just sells nostalgia to a certain market of people.
  6. I dropped Peacock plus a few months ago when the Premier League season ended. But conference realignment and the endless new television and streaming deals mean I need to sign up again in order to watch second tier B1G football games this fall. But any Peacock game may still be flexed into FOX or NBC. So a bunch of old midwestern people are going to call their kids asking them how to get Peacock in a few weeks.
  7. Left behind, and this guy shows up at the DR PEPPER Halftime show?
  8. This is the near the top of the most streamed things on Netflix for several days now, getting mucho traction on social media too.
  9. My tv schedule today shows La Liga broadcast on the local ABC station at 2PM Central
  10. Buried in a Guardian article about Saudi takeover at Newcastle, some staff at the club were making less than £9.90 an hour before the new regime.
  11. Are they ever really "against the world", when the school and fan base (or whole damn city most days) are so small and kinda not really tuned into football?
  12. Chris Berman needs to stay away.
  13. Iowa has seen an erosion and ultimately a disappearance on all of the old taboos regarding gambling. The legalization of sports betting and endless apps to choose from on your phone is just light years away from decades past where it was all hush hush and guys would talk about gambling in weird codes where they wouldn't mention the spread or other prop bets but make references that only part of their audience would understand. When you tune into the local sports talk radio in Iowa, literally every local show is sponsored by a betting website. Many regular guests work for the bookmakers, the live events and even special rooms at different minor league teams have the bookmakers logo and sponsorship all over them. You can't escape the ads if you live in the state. The local opinionators fill up time just endlessly talking about point spreads and bad beats. The hosts know that the advertisers ultimately keep their jobs going, and they never ever mention the negative things that go along with sports betting.
  14. There is a significant penalty for early withdrawal from the Fleck Bank.
  15. I would like to make a deposit into the Fleck Bank.
  16. I know a lot of guys who had money on the 2006 game between UCONN and Pitt that went to double overtime and they lost a lot of money because of the game winning two point conversion after DJ had led a couple of fourth quarter touchdown drives.
  17. Hey guys, guess which guy has the most Big 10 Conference Championships among active coaches? More than Harbaugh, James Franklin, or any other active Head Football coach. I mean, its kinda temporary because Ryan Day will probably surpass him if he stays at OSU, even Harbaugh could tie him with three. But because mister sweater vest and Urb dominated the conference for so long and they had this brief time when OSU was down and Bert was doing his thing at Wisconsin at the time so now eleven years later he has more conference championships than anyone else in the conference.
  18. I am glad to see the Blue Chew ads that were autoplaying in my feed over the past two weeks. Now I know who Bigg Jah and Persephanii aka Thick Yonce are.
  19. Some guy who called himself ChiefsAholic and showed up to games in full costume was arrested and charged with bank theft.
  20. Northwestern newspapers in Evanston have details of some new holidays including Runsgiving and Runsmas
  21. I had an old disk copy of Sim city, it came with a little book with a set of codes you would have to enter when you loaded up the game from DOS. If you entered the wrong code, you could still play the game but there would be random outbreaks of fires and tornadoes throughout your game, making it difficult to truly build and maintain the ideal city. In a way, it was like twitter. I haven't loaded up the game since the nineties.
