  1. I feel like folks are putting the cart before the horse on recruiting and NSD. We're getting beat by teams that don't have a single top 10 recruiting class on their rosters. String together multiple CCG appearances with the recruits we have and the rest will take care of itself.
  2. Nice setup. A Moccamaster and a quality grinder is the best coffee upgrade we've ever made.
  3. This is my understanding as well. "Tennessee Whiskey" is an attempt by its makers to distinguish themselves from bourbon (and in part, Kentucky), not the other way around.
  4. Found it. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-idaho-kootenai-county-drops-covid-mask-mandate-despite-hospital-doctors-warning/
  5. He sure seems to be lagging behind in an offense that can make walk-ons and grad transfers with a week of practice look like superstars. I think it may be a similar issue to the issue with BJ Foster: his role was more important under his old coordinator than it is under the new one and he's struggling to adjust.
  6. He also had 19 reps on the bench press, which was good for 5th among wideouts.
  7. The stuff about Steve McNair was really interesting. You can see the love for McNair is very deep. VY didn't just tell us that he called him Pops and that he was a father figure, he told us wny he called him Pops, why McNair was a good man.
  8. If it's impossible for a CB coach to have such an impact on a program, why is everyone freaking out so much without knowing what the rest of the staff looks like? Can you name 5 current CFB CB coaches not named Akina without looking it up? I know I can't. They're taking a flyer on a young guy that the DC has a hunch about. If the rest of the defensive staff looks like that, we have a problem. Otherwise, it's like a hardway bet in craps. If it hits, we're golden. If it doesn't, well hopefully we've properly hedged our bets elsewhere. If we really can't afford to take a flyer on a friggin' CB coach, Herman's fucked no matter what happens.
  9. Then so be it. He'll either get results or he won't. Jay Valai could be next season's Joe Brady for all we know. We won't know if Herman is repeating the same mistakes he did last year until November at the earliest.
  10. It will be interesting. At least from the analysis in Boyd's article, Yurcich really seems to favor outside receivers more, but still rely heavily on the slot. I'm curious to see how things shake out as well.
  11. Maybe, or maybe they just thought he gave a poor interview. He just started covering Longhorn Football this season. I've heard him before on podcasts and was not impressed. He's writes decent copy but doesn't seem to have much insight to offer as a sportswriter. It's a drag, I'm pleased with the quality of The Athletic otherwise.
  12. I mean, they're not wrong. Kaelen Jones has been trash covering us on The Athletic. He basically just rehashes press conferences.
  13. Also known as the Inverted Tampa 2
  14. Nah, just change the verb to past tense.
  15. He redshirted in 2018 when he was at Texas. You have 5 years to play 4 seasons, so he burned a year by transferring and not being granted a waiver. He'll have 3 years left whether he plays in the bowl or not.
  16. As Herman says, it's not the size of the H-back, but the motion of the slot receiver that matters.
  17. Major Applewhite for OC? That's a #metoo lawsuit waiting to happen.
  18. I'm warming to Ash. If the team does well, he'll probably be gone in two years for a HC position and Herman's seat will be cool enough to snag an upgrade from another program. If he fails, who cares, Herman will be canned and we're starting over anyway. If the floor for keeping Herman is being a solid Top 10 team in two years, that's not an unreasonable goal with Ash and Harrell as your coordinators.
  19. Baylor and Tech alums in the Texas legislature basically strong-armed Texas and Texas A&M into taking Tech and Baylor with them from the SWC into the Big 12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Big_12_Conference#Texas_politicians
  20. Wow, Proctor should have been called for targeting all day.
  21. You're absolutely right. Add that to the fact that Herman anticipates being forced to bring in someone he doesn't know as OC and merge his offense with theirs, it makes sense that Herman wants a known quantity that he trusts and knows how to work with running the side of the ball that he's weak on. And it could work, it just isn't sexy.
  22. It ain't conditioning. The offensive line has been plenty effective late in games. The defense gets gassed because we're not nearly as deep we were last year on defense. There's a reason so many true freshmen are playing in the secondary and why Hager has played out of position most of the year.
