  1. I don't know how they deal with that heat. I'm pretty active and tend to somewhat overdo it when playing sports, cycling, working in the yard, etc... But, I walk right into a cold shower and AC. I can't imagine getting that hot, then just sitting in it. Props to Trish and Laura. It's one thing to tough shit out. But, when you add in pain and injuries and still want to stay - pretty impressive.
  2. Very well stated. This is one reason why I think Phil Steele is still worth the price. (As I noted, I'm just a creature of habit in buying the other mags.) I first noticed, what you are speaking to, with Dave Campbells several years ago. They always have a section containing the "best" college players in Texas. They go out of their way to ensure that every team in the state has at least one player listed. It got really ridiculous about 4 years ago when they had North Texas and UTSA (going off memory; could be off) with more on the state 1st and 2nd team than Texas or aggy. One thing the mags aren't handling very well is the portal. They don't seem to know how to account for starters lost v. starters gained from the portal. In the past, a returning starter was bolded, and it was obvious if this was going to be a major or minor loss. Now, they're just bolding returning starters coming back to the same team. There is no accounting for improvement from the portal other than the occasional blurb re: one or two incoming players. Tech, for example, looks like shit per the current format but most agree they've upgraded their roster.
  3. I don't think we're going to win the World Cup next year.
  4. We seem to have several of those.
  5. I'm cool with a tad less skill and more heart. Served us well until the mid 2010's.
  6. Thx. No idea what's going on. My guide has pregame until kickoff at 3:10. Turn it on and I've missed the goal and the first ten mins.
  7. Is she supposed to float and tag from the air? Wtf?
  8. I'm not watching Ng this creepy cow's yogurt.
  9. Oh, never mind. It's God awful Beth Mowins. Makes sense now.
  10. Casual fan here. Go Horns. Question. Does ESPN really, really want Tech to win? I've never seen a team up 7 so completely ignored. More shots of Tech's million dollar pitcher please. Can't get enough of those.
  11. Speaking of, I was wondering why nobody spoke of killing a kangaroo on this season's Last One Standing. I was under the impression that they were basically considered large rats in Australia. Quick search shows only specific hunters with a specific license can hunt them.
  12. Ok, I'll play bitch boy. Texas plays 3 of the Top 10; aggy one.
  13. That's going to be interesting. Most of those that last the longest get pulled for weight loss due to being unable to hunt or fish in the Arctic. May make this one more mental.
  14. I'm still recovering from last year's TX/OU game where some of us almost died. IYKYK.
  15. Coincidentally I have a poster of all the Dave Campbell's covers going back to the first issue. Told y'all I was dedicated. 😃
  16. It's def gone downhill over the years. At this point, I mostly reference it per high school football.
  17. What's your beef with Dave Campbell's? Forgot about Waddington's. Good stuff.
  18. Trish had to beat the other last place finisher to get to a camp. That camp then lost the team challenge; one of the teams only having two people. She then wins the elimination because Suzanne doesn't know how to build a fire and the Scottish guy's pot fell into the fire. BUT, she's amazing and nobody wants to go against her. Ugh.
  19. It's a sort of addiction for sure. At this point in my life, I scan through them then end up putting them in the magazine rack of my bathroom for reference throughout the year.
  20. Yeah. I'm probably using the wrong terminology. I heard fiberoptic cable at some point. That's my reference.
  21. It's the Frontier router. One of the things they wanted me to check was the speed of my desktop with the fiber cable directly connected (as opposed to through the router). So, slow speeds via the router and slow speeds bypassing the router.
  22. I know. In the famous words of Wayne Campbell, "Get the net!". I do have the net, but I've purchased the college football mags since I was a child in '88. It's tradition at this point. Lindy's and Athlon's are out. They both have Texas #1 and really, really like Arch. I've barely opened them, but a couple of quick observations. 1. Lindy's has a dumbass list of top 15 conference games. TX v GA is 2nd after PSU/Ohio St. I'm fine with that. What is annoying is that that's there's only 4 SEC matchups on the list. Apparently, Tulane v. Memphis is a bigger deal than TX/aggy, TX/OU, or TX/FL. Lame. 2. I'm as big a sunshine pumper as any on here, but Athlon's may have outdone me. This is their list of national unit rankings: QB - TX 1st WR - TX 6th RB - TX 3rd OL - TX 8th DL - TX 1st LB - TX 1st DB TX 1st I mean, I love my school as much as the next guy, but good Lord, if that was to verify, this team would be better than 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, and 2005 Texas combined. Exaggeration, but I think you get my point. FWIW, these two mags are preseason to me. Phil Steele and, especially, Texas Football are my favs.
  23. Long story short, I switched from Spectrum to Frontier on Friday. In my neighborhood, Spectrum kept dropping service. Anyway, I've been on chat or on the phone for at least 7 hours since Friday. The help desk in India probably thinks I'm batshit crazy at this point. I think the assistance they've provided has been utterly useless. I had 500 MBPS with Spectrum. The Frontier plan is supposed to be 1 gig. When Spectrum worked, I NEVER had an issue with lagging internet/video. Since Friday, watching tv has been a nightmare. For example, I timed clicking on an HBO Max movie to actual video at 47 seconds. IOW, I got the spinny/loading icon for 47 seconds after pressing play. Frontier is all... 1. Put your router in a centralized spot. The router is in the exact same spot as where the Spectrum router was. 2. Perhaps there are obstacles. Nope. Same spot PLUS I added an extender over the weekend for the devices upstairs. The exact same TVs that are lagging now worked just fine under Spectrum WITHOUT the extender. 3. Maybe you have too many devices connected. Nope. Same devices; nothing new. 4. "On our end, we're showing close to 1,000 MBPS being delivered." Running tests on OOKLA and another app, I'm getting anywhere from 15 to 85MBPS. I plugged the fiber cable directly into one of my desktops, and it ran slowly as well. So, I don't think it's the router but I can't convince them it's the cable because, according to their remote tests, I'm getting proper service. I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm trying not to turn into a Karen, but good gosh this is frustrating.
  24. When my aggy cousin died in 2016, my daughter and I drove down for the funeral. It was aggy themed. At the end of the service, they played the aggy war hymn, at which time his younger (adult) sister yelled across the room, "That's for you knoxtnhorn!". Ironically, that was the 2nd most awkward moment of the funeral. The first being when one of his daughters cussed out his most recent wife directly in front of the casket. By "cussed out" I mean screaming at the top of her lungs, "You effing bitch. F you!". Good times.
