  1. Hamas kills Israeli children intentionally and then hides behind Palestinian children for protection. If Israel acts children die, if Israel does nothing children die. If Israel acts they can end this cycle of dead children. If Israel does nothing this cycle will continue indefinitely. It is a horrendous situation all around, but this cycle cannot continue. Hamas existence = dead children
  2. Hamas literally beheaded multiple babies INTENTIONALLY! That was the fucking purpose that they had in mind when they did it. Not by accident or unintentionally by happenstance. They gave no warnings because that was their FUCKING GOAL. Israel warns the residents of Gaza to leave an area that they will be bombing/invading. Hamas blocks civilians from leaving and innocent people are killed. Hamas puts up pictures of these deaths and yells at evil Israel. There is no way to win. Hamas will not stop. They brutally attack and then call for peace and hide behind civilians and use their death (which they intentionally put in harms way) to advance their goals. This isn’t fucking War Games where Israel can chose not to play. Hamas is using morality and compassion as a weapon, and as soon as they get a cease fire they begin planning for their next attack. Let’s not even get into how completely idiotic it is to call for a cease fire after murders over 1000 people while still holding hostages and firing rockets at civilians populations every day.
  3. One side is murdering indiscriminately, raping teenagers, beheading babies, kidnapping elderly, torturing, calling families from loved ones phones and live streaming people from their grandmother’s Facebook account, launching rockets daily towards civilian populations, while oppressing and hiding behind their own civilian population in homes, schools, hospitals, and places of worship, diverting all money to the continuation of war crimes and then pointing them lying about every conceivable fact in order to condemn their “oppressors” and claiming “genocide” of themselves while actually publicly proclaiming their goal is genocide of the other. Hamas needs to go. Israel has no choice here.
  4. We agree on 90% I just think enforcement is the issue. FSU owns the stadium and can physically broadcast their games independently. They don’t HAVE to sue to get them back because they are them. Role play this out. FSU leaves the ACC and sets up a full independent schedule for 2025. Announces all game will be streaming PPV on FSU.edu including their home game against Alabama. The ACC still holds their GOR and ESPN shows up to broadcast the game but FSU doesn’t let them into the stadium. Someone is going to have to sue someone else because ESPN/ACC can waive a piece of paper around all they want but that doesn’t get their cameras into the stadium. That will take some sort of law enforcement with a court order.
  5. Almost tried to scan the QR code to see if it worked, but then realized what would happen if it did and decided against it.
  6. Yes the premise here was that FSU goes independent and broadcasts their own events without permission. Agree ESPN/FOX won’t want to get involved.
  7. Maybe they should add Rice to the conference?
  8. I know you disagree (we’ve had this talk before I’m fairly certain) but I still have yet to see any evidence of a GOR being enforced on a government entity. That the major difference here. ESPN/FOX would not be involved. The ACC would have to sue FSU directly and I don’t think that would have a favorable outcome. Plus even if it did it would cost money and the state could theoretically pass a law voiding unfavorable government contracts which is unique versus a standard GOR on an individual or private company. Courts have also ruled certain GORs invalid where people signed away their lifetime of rights for $1. I’m no media rights expert here but while I agree that it will cost many MANY dollars to lawyers, I do not think this is a cut and dry as say Taylor Swift’s GOR (which she was still able to get out of by re-recording her music). FSU seems to have a plan, I’m curious to see the outcome.
  9. I loved this one… “It's gotta make culture building damn near impossible. How do you trust a guy in the locker room who only came to your school because of money?” I’m sure those random Tennessee and New Jersey recruits came for the majesty of College Station.
  10. Let me tell y'all what it's like, being male, middle-class, and white It's a bitch, if you don't believe Listen up to my new CD, sha-mon
  11. I’m not disagreeing with you, however… Afghanistan is 250k+ square miles with a population just under 40 million. Iraq is nearly 170k square miles with a population of more than 43 million. Gaza is 141 square miles with a population of just over 2 million. This isn’t exactly an Apples to Apples comparison. Logistically Israel could (again not claiming they should) check each and every civilian and methodically go building by building/house by house and root out every terrorist/hide out/tunnel. It would be bloody and costly in a myriad of ways but it’s doable as the IDF now has nearly half a million active troops and advanced satellite resources and a stranglehold on their regional communication networks.
  12. They also added Sacred Heart as well. https://maacsports.com/news/2023/10/22/baseball-maac-welcomes-merrimack-college-and-sacred-heart-university-as-newest-full-members.aspx This put the NEC in a real bind as they’ll be down to 7 and already have 2 members (Stonehill and LeMoyne) transitioning up from DII offsetting their loss of St Francis who dropped all sports and Mount St Mary’s who also went to the MAAC. They need a waiver from the NCAA and will have to beg some less than enthusiastic DII to move up or grab full independent Chicago State out West in order to survive. I have my eye on New Haven as the most likely call up with Bentley as the next best option.
  13. Looks I’m generally pro-density. My neighborhood has some duplex and apartments nearby and other than waiting 20 minutes for a school to load/unload at the apartment it doesn’t hurt my family or neighbors. That being said, I also don’t fully agree that everyone should be able to live Central because they want to. After I graduated, I had to move out to the suburbs and commute nearly an hour twice a day in order to find something affordable. After living there for a decade and saving up the wife and I were eventually able to move within the city but still not what anyone would consider Central Austin. Even if you build high density housing, most of those will just be bought up by investors and the people they were designed to help will quickly be priced out. While we can want a city full of mixed housing that ship has likely sailed. Texas Jeff’s suggestions are a good start. Finding specific areas of opportunity is really where the city’s focus should be along with providing better access to/around the Central corridor. The train was supposed to be the solution (not a great one but it would have helped) but absent some miracle turnaround that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
  14. Makes sense in a weird way. 1. Go independent 2. Broadcast your own games online (no one else will risk it because…) 3. Get sued by the ACC due to the GOR 4. Legally nullify the GOR in court or settle out of court (and show Clemson/UNC/UVA the way out as well) and confirm once and for all whether you own your TV rights or not. 5. Join the SEC or Big Ten and hopefully break even financially prior to 2036. Short term they’ll lose some money but depending on the settlement amount they likely come out ahead than staying in the ACC for another 12 years. If this was a 5 year problem this would be dumb, but with over a decade left on their TV deal this isn’t a horrible plan.
  15. No politics at work. Even when you think you’re doing the right thing it backfires. For example, a company I know of made a statement about George Floyd expressing sympathy and solidarity with his family and the protest. While I would doubt it made a huge difference for most, for some employees it was seen as a great expression from their employer that they were not heartless capitalist and realized there is more to life than work. The problem occurred later when the gay nightclub was attacked (apologies if I’m recalling events slightly out of order) and they LGBT groups at the company wanted a similar statement which eventually was released. So on and so on with each following event. Now you have the Israel/Hamas war and while it’s easy to condemn terrorism, how do they respond to Palestinians asking for a similar statement about the innocent civilians being killed by the IDF? They painted themselves into a corner. As always, the only winning move was not to play. You might have taken a small PR/morale hit at the time but in the long term silence is golden. No politics at work.
  16. Houston won something. We mostly let winners slide as a society.
  17. While no official declaration, I would also assume they are planning on pushing the citizenry further South and making most of Northern Gaza part of a large DMZ as well.
  18. I’ve always appreciated all the ins and outs of this program. As someone who regularly criticizes most things in this city you have to give credit where it’s due. More of this please, fewer hotels.
  19. Globetrotters = Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and currently Georgia (this list isn’t fully set in stone) these school can pull 3 million viewers playing Rice, UNLV, WKU, and the like even in an uncompetitive game. The next level is still really good (some would argue that it’s all the same tier) but the main difference here is that they don’t get the benefit of the doubt when playing the little sisters of the poor so they need someone with a pulse to pull 3 million: Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, LSU, Florida State, Clemson, and Florida. You can do this for each level down, as we drop down to the next tier you need a better opponent to hit 3 million+. Obviously this compounds when these top tier teams play each other, even more so when ranked, and same applies to lower tier teams as well when ranked they can move up or down this tier system based on rankings and also what game are available week to week. Big exception to this is when something like Deion and Colorado come along and break all the rules.
  20. Anything will be better than buying old hotels. Still one of the only benefit of the train was that it would connect cheap city owned land to the city center which could be developed for high density/affordable housing. But I bet they’ll even fuck that up.
  21. So prior to this year ESPN had the Big Ten, Big 12, PAC12, and ACC on ABC while they could only put the SEC on ESPN due to their CBS exclusive OTA deal. In 2024 they lose all PAC inventory and they lost all Big Ten inventory this year. While they will be supplementing those loses with the SEC on ABC now that also pulls what was a staple of ESPN on Saturday and leaves a big hole on ESPN that will have to be filled and that will be filled by the Big 12 which is why they added more games. For FOX, they got the Big Ten to add Oregon and Washington, but unless they break the exclusive deal with CBS or NBC they can’t add any more games to FOX OTA. It benefits the BTN (which FOX owns) and FS1 but they’ll have to wheel and deal to get exceptions or else the Big 12 will be the biggest beneficiaries.
  22. Once the SEC can be on ABC the Big 12 won’t be on there nearly as much, but with UT leaving that FOX spot would have been a likely landing spot for a game like that.
