  1. What are you looking for? House/condo Whats the purpose? Just housing for the kid then selling, or long term investment? Are you going to renovate (Major/minor) or need turnkey? What do you consider close to campus? Walkable, bus route, or short drive? What’s a rough budget? $300k, 500, 750, 1mil? Could recommend many areas, Hyde Park, Far West, Riverside, Duval, Burnet, Domain, Mueller, East Austin, South Congress but depends a lot on your answers, especially budget. Housing in Austin is expensive, students generally lives in the least expensive areas with young professionals and service workers. If you want to be surrounded by students West Campus is the answer but good luck finding anything reasonable in that area. and yes you’d get more traction asking this in the mortgage/real estate thread over in the 6th street forum.
  2. That “bedroom” in the middle of the “house” can’t legally be considered a bedroom since there is no exterior egress and yes that architect should be put out to pasture
  3. Yeah was going to drop by but everyone else wanted to watch Nelly.
  4. I’m confused by these responses. Do you want to be locked out of controlling your car when automated driving is on? Disconnecting the steering wheel, accelerator and break pedal from their normal operations seems like it would entail significantly more cost and headache to the end user as well both operationally and for maintenance (can you image driving down the road and turning off self driving and the brake system not being able to reengage?). All in all the user override seems like it’s working as intended/designed and haters are just trying to hate because Elon says stupid thing they don’t agree with. The robot is just dumb.
  5. They have land they could repurpose right near the basketball pavilion. It COULD be done, but I doubt it ever happens.
  6. Yep, going to be one of those gif/jif octopuses/octopi things where it’s now considered correct simply because the masses have used it incorrectly so long that it becomes normalized.
  7. Fonzie waterskiing in a leather jacket and jumping over a shark has become widely used in US vernacular about television series, but it’s very commonly used incorrectly. “Jumping the shark” equals a moment/episode so awesome nothing the show can do will ever top it. The way most people use “jumping the shark” is implying that it the Fonzie waterskiing was a collective eye roll/groan moment from the American public where most people saw it and said this is stupid and stopped watching Happy Days, when in fact jumping the shark was the absolute peak of the show and Fonzie’s coolness. Shows that are never that great shouldn’t be said to have jumped the shark. Limited series or shows that go off air at the peak of their popularity (like Seinfeld) also never jump the shark. The best example currently is (although not a TV show) likely the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3 ended with Avengers Endgame (and Spider-Man Far From Home). Endgame was so popular and the build up and payoff (despite what the resident critics here think) was so satisfying to the public that almost everything in Phase 4 that has come after has been a disappointment outside of Spider-Man No Way Home (which is really a culmination of the 8 previous Sony Spider-Man movies despite Dr Strange’s involvement). If Marvel never figures out how to put together another worldwide, universally acclaimed ensemble movie like Endgame ever again then that would be their jumping the shark, not Thor 4, She Hulk, or the Eternals.
  8. If UCLA comes back they lose Stanford. This is a bitch move. If he had ended it after the first page with a sentence highlighting some of his points it would have been so bad, but spell it OSU like that shows how fucking desperate they are.
  9. If it’s an OOC game, it wouldn’t stop Okie State from winning the Big 12. With a 12 team playoff winning the Big 12 will guarantee them a spot and likely a first round bye. Losing to Oklahoma only hurts their chance at an at large spot but so does having a weak ass schedule. Playing a 9th game against the Big 12 (as we currently do) only adds another loss to the conference. Beating up on Tech, UH, K State, and Kansas will fuck everyone’s SOS especially when compared to the SEC/B1G. The only way to guarantee an at large bid is if they have a single loss to the undefeated champions. Last year was a great example of how challenging this could be for OSU. The Pokes got the 5th at large bid and Michigan St got #6. OSU beat Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor the first time (only notable because they were champs), and Boise St. MSU beat Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, and Miami. Drop Texas and OU and MSU would clearly be ranked higher OSU drops to the final at large spot. Would 3 loss Iowa with wins over Penn St, Nebraska, USC (hypothetically), and Iowa St (who beat OSU) get the last at large spot over an OSU that didn’t beat Texas or Oklahoma? It’s certainly plausible from where I’m sitting. Replace Iowa or 3 loss Kentucky’s name with Florida, Penn St, USC or LSU and is not just plausible but likely. The point is just that realistically with the 12 team playoff, most year the Big Ten and SEC will each get 3 teams in and 4 other conference champs will make it. That leaves 2 spots for Notre Dame and/or the 2nd place teams from Big12/PAC10/ACC. Going back to an 8 game conference schedule and playing 2 P5 OOC games would be an ideal setup for OSU. Play the game you already have scheduled AND Bedlam at the end of the season and minimize conference losses and just copy what the SEC did for the last decade and artificially boost your rankings with the stupid low information voters and public. Scheduling a long term series helps your TV deal and increases your ticket sales. Play an early conference game and save Arkansas Pune Bluff for the week before Bedlam. Oklahoma spends all year going through murder’s row and is all beat up and the table is set for you to take more games than you ever had. OU going to the SEC could be a GREAT setup for Okie State. If Oklahoma is offering a king term annual series OSU should take it as it may not be there in the future. Rumor on Twitter last week was that Nebraska wanted to book a long term annual series with Oklahoma if Bedlam was truly dead.
  10. https://www.vivathematadors.com/platform/amp/2022/9/21/23365360/its-time-to-move-on-from-the-texas-longhorns It’s okay, they don’t need us. We’re good, they’re good, it’s a win-win.

  12. They ain’t blocking anything medical. UT has more sway in Houston in the medical arena than UH has period, and we were still unable to open even a token non medical research campus
  13. I’d play with Britney, Beyoncé, and JLo’s holes. I only count 9 (unless we get weird) but I’m willing to go 2 rounds to get to 18.
  14. 1. Baylor because they are quite literally a cancer in our state that needs to be eradicated. How many Bear mascots do we need in collegiate sports? 2. aggy just because they lie about everything and are an embarrassment to our state, they only care about College Station and ignore their others campuses. 3. cougar high because of bleachergate, because they blocked our UT-Houston campus, because they whine constantly about how everything is unfair but do very little to help themselves. UH-Clear Lake with a direct line into NASA has been virtually ignored. How many cougar mascots do we need in collegiate sports? 4. Not really hate, just annoying mostly -Tech/TCU. Tech just for 2008, batteries, and whining, TCU for kicking our ass since joining the Big 12. 5. SMU for ruining the SWC even if it was likely doomed thanks to TV. 6. UNT/Texas State just because I don’t know where to put them. 7. UTSA/UTEP UT system schools, no hate. 10. Rice our closest academic peer, “Why does Rice play Texas”
  15. https://www.yahoo.com/now/texas-tech-leaders-press-ut-110108033.html They’ve been pretty honest about why they want to play…
  16. My assumption is that all 3 programs are working on finding replacement games (or at least close to finding) before announcing the cancellations. Oklahoma, Georgia, and Tennessee all announced their replacement games all within a week of announcing the cancellation.
  17. We’re full until 2027. Since we’re dropping Georgia and Florida, I assume Tech (since they are bitching the loudest) will get a home and home 2028/2029. I hope that’s the only scheduling agreement we have to make to get out of this conference, but part of me thinks we’ll get stuck with the same for TCU and Baylor (and OU will have to do something similar with the old Big 8 schools). Anything they can get to spice up their future TV deal with FOX/ESPN they are going to try, before the new school get in here. I expect the exit fees and TV deal to be settled and divided out among the remaining 8 before the others are able to get a slice of the pie. 2027 09/11 - at Michigan 09/18 - UTEP 2028 09/02 - Georgia 09/16 - UTSA 2029 09/01 - at Georgia 09/15 - UTEP 2030 09/07 - at Florida 09/14 - UTSA 2031 09/06 - Florida 09/13 - UTEP 2032 09/11 - at Arizona State 2033 09/10 - Arizona State
  18. Jesus. The end scene at the table made the whole thing worth it. Yes pound for pound not their best work but holy shit that one got pretty major laugh out of me. I mean, ever since they introduced space Beth the outcome was obvious, especially when you add in the sea king episode but the way they put it all together was greatness, even if the video game bit fell flat.
  19. Disappointing but makes sense. It’s unlikely all the pieces come together in the next month or two.
