  1. How does one heat 75 lbs of lye to 300 degrees? Asking for a friend.
  2. My foot is already tired and it hasn't done any good yet.
  3. Over a lifetime I have built up a pretty nice collection of guitars. When discussing passing them on to my son he said, "I don't want them. I'll try to sell them or just throw them away". I was stunned. On the other hand, I'm a sentimental old fool. It is a burden. I don't ever play it, but damned if I will sell my 1961 Duo Sonic. It's a burden.
  4. If anyone is still interested. She wears it. Was not ecstatic when I gave it to her, but she can be droll. It's pretty soft, as would be expected, and has to be bent slightly for her to get it on her wrist so I worry about metal fatigue/breakage. At least we have another oz. in the house, so I'm happy enough with that.
  5. Please make some hot weather suggestions. I like pinpoint but damned if I'm going to wear it in 105. What brands of polos keep their shape and are not heavy? I've looked for "warm weather sport coats", but none of them look "cool" to me. Casual. I'm not dressing up in this heat.
  6. Would an AMG GT 63 s stay out of the shop? I'll stop dreaming if they're junk. I used to be afraid of turbos but my Volvo has been flawless so maybe...but I know nothing about Mercedes reliability.
  7. I just tucked that manila folder into my carry on for a trip to see the grandkids. You see, a phone is a machine and all machines break at some point. Usually at the most inopportune time, like while boarding an airplane. A printed piece of paper never has low batteries or a weak signal, whippersnapper.
  8. A Makers float is tempting.
  9. Can you eat ice cream. Seems like some dense calories.
  10. Didn't y'all ever watch Disney's "Fantasia", you know, the dinosaur scene where they are just wandering around, eating one another, and minding their own business. Then...BOOM!! Mother Nature gets tired of all that shit and wants a change. Ain't nothing any man, woman, child, or dinosaur can do. If Mother Nature wants a change, she is going to have a gotdamn change. We are a gnat on an elephant's butt. Nothing we can do. tl/dr: We're fucked. 11. We put plantation shutters on several French Doors in a previous house. Very functional but may be more visual weight than you want.
  12. Chet Atkins, or I saw Andres Segovia at The Union one time and he was pretty bitchin'.
  13. Swift I think. They certainly live up to that name.
  14. I'll look tonight to see if my guys have that white collar.
  15. Give me an idea of what these 6PM acrobats are swooping down to catch a bill full of water from the pool on the fly. I'd say nighthawks but nighthawks are mottled or stripedy. These guys are toast colored on the breast and belly and black or dark brown on the back. They move and dart so fast I can't get a picture. I mean unbelievably fast and agile. They can dart 4 different directions in a second. They'll group up and run off a buzzard.
  16. I swear I'm losing an inch and a half a day on these hundred degree days. Y'all?
  17. You gotta make this decision on your own, with wife of course, but I have had two friends cured of Melanoma at MD Anderson. I have nothing but good to say about that place. Peace to you and the spouse. I find The Mayo Clinic informative, accessible and up to date. Be sure to scroll down to find link to next section. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/melanoma/symptoms-causes/syc-20374884
  18. Getting old sucks. You either have a condition that threatens you every day, or you watch your friends and family struggle with a condition that threatens them every day. I have three good friends now who are on the threshold. I would not be at all surprised to get that phone call from their wife, weeping and asking me to help with the funeral arrangements, or whatever other help a good friend should give at that time. You drop everything and go help. Finish, and then go back to what you were doing. Catching up with your own stuff. Hoping to get it all in order before your wife makes that same phone call to one of your friends. Wondering how you managed to outrun The Grim Reaper a little longer than your buddy. You both raised hell in your younger days. Beer for beer. Cigarette for cigarette. No justification for you being alive while he's gone. Worried that the footsteps you hear behind you are The Reaper, coming to take you next. Wondering which of your friends will get that call from your wife. Getting old sucks.
  19. The Classical Music thread motivated me to pull out one of my top 10 favorite albums, if you said top 5 I wouldn't argue. Bach, got dam Bach. Listen to the "complex simplicity" of this. I know that's a contradiction in terms, but for me it defines what I am hearing. The Flentrop at the top of it's game. The King of Instruments indeed. And Biggs. Biggs is a fucking monster. I am never sorry I put this album on.
  20. I can't get the YouTube to open. Who is conductor/orchestra on that William Tell? Fucking magnificent version.
  21. This may be the best thread I've ever read on the intertrons. And that Akhlut. Yeah. Fuck that.
  22. This makes me happy. I listen to Beethoven and Mozart often. I listen to Bach every day. Soli Deo Gloria
  23. You are correct. Rene was not playing when the bone was invented. He was one of my first heroes when I was a kid. Ramirez. Bobby Lackey. Later on, James Saxon. Bigger than life to a little kid.
  24. We gotta move to night games or people gonna die.
