1. Bozo_Casanova now that I’ve read more of your posts I suspect the things you saw in the tech industry were significantly affected by more than just the diversity efforts.  This could be a whole thread on just the tech industry but I’ll say a little here.
We can blame diversity across the board but in tech it was a double whammy with H1B making it even harder on white males and it wasn’t for diversity reasons even though it might look like it was.  It was economic because it was cheaper to bring in people on visas, pay the legal bills, and then cut the salary by the amount of the immigration fees and hold it over the employee’s head like an indentured servant for stability.   It can look like a diversity play where non-white male people start filling more roles but I don’t think it was.
I worked in a lot of roles that required security clearances for decades and was insulated from the impacts in the broader tech workforce and when I switched to non-defense work it was eye-opening.

Not always, but things often happen in this country because someone is gaining economic advantage.

Flew from Dhaka Bangladesh to Chittagong with no ID at all.  Our company "fixer" drove his car straight on to the tarmac, handed us our tickets and up the stairs we went.

In one of the strangest episodes of my life, I flew from Moscow to Minsk and there was no one to check my paperwork. The airport was literally empty of people. I caught one soldier as he was headed out the door to go home and he gave me the necessary stamps.

3. someone bought a ton of trump coin ...
BREAKING: Donald Trump has just pardoned one of the world’s most notorious drug traffickers. Trump, in a new post, said he will issue a “full and complete pardon” to former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was convicted of drug trafficking last year in the US and sentenced to 45 years in prison. Hernandez was convicted by a jury of conspiring to traffic 400 tons of cocaine into the United States and was “at the center of one of the largest and most violent drug-trafficking conspiracies in the world.” Hernandez is responsible for the deaths of countless American citizens, but Trump says that he was treated “very unfairly.”

I don’t normally post political stuff on Facebook, but I made an exception for this. It has to give even the hardcore MAGA pause to think.

4. Pretty sure Biden had nothing to do with the Reflecting Pool, but sure, let's blame him for the "renovation" that is about to take place.
Are we taking bets on what he is going to transform the Mall into?  Trump Tower DC?  A giant Trump monument?  An AI data center? A new Russian embassy?

Line it with Confederate statues, or ...

Fill it in and build the Trump Arch on top, between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

5. A reporter yelled at him "Are you going to stop killing civilians?". He didn't answer.

The reporter was likely referring to Ukrainian civilians. Unfortunately, yesterday’s atrocities are so… yesterday.

6. I don’t follow anything where I might see Dotard or hear his voice. Did any reporters remind the viewers that Putin blew up an apartment building of his own citizens so he could win an election ?

7. The Soviets placed commissars amongst the troops to insure adherence to the party. For the U.S. party that continually accuses the Democrats of being communist, the Republicans sure do a lot of communisty things.

8. I've booked to a tour to the Dune du Pilat. Thanks for the very good recommendation. I also booked a chef-led tour of the Marché des Capucins so I think our excursion schedule is not filled.

9. Anyone stay there recently? My wife won a trip in a benefit auction. We have a city excursion, a wine-tasting tour of Saint-Emilien, and a river dinner booked as part of the package. We are looking to fill an additional 2 1/2 days.

10. Shit. That is going to be how this issue is solved isn't it? Slave labor from prisons.

Look for upcoming laws that will throw a lot more African-American men in jail. There’s a lot of produce to be picked.

11. Crazy idea, but the state could work with county and city officials to identify problems and create solutions. The state could provide expertise and fund a portion of expense. Local leaders could pick up a share of the expense and monitor the maintenance of equipment and the education of residents. Schools go through many varied drills each year to prepare for a variety of emergencies… summer camps should have the same requirements.

12. I’m trying not to assign blame, but I think we can look at three points in time and draw a solid conclusion.

Point 1: 1900 Galveston Hurricane
Poor 2: 2025 Hill Country Floods
Point 3: The future, when science and modern communication technology provide ample warning and there is no loss of life.

My conclusion? Unless things change soon, we will be moving from Point 2 backwards to Point 1 rather than forward to Point 3.
