You were expecting a tasty spicy chicken sandwich from a chain based out of Wisconsin? I could have told you how that was going to go and saved you a few bucks.
Who read the scans initially? I’m amazed at how often things get missed. My wife and I both have examples of things getting missed, fortunately they were both orthopedic issues and not cancer. First was my wife who had been having knee pain (she’s a runner) and got the all clear on an MRI. After it not going away, I sent the scan to a buddy that’s a pediatric radiologist and he took one look at it and saw a meniscus tear. She had surgery a week later. In my case, I tripped over a broken sidewalk while walking my dog in the dark. Had an x-ray the next day and got the all clear. Continued to have pain and couldn’t walk without a limp for six months when I finally made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. He took one look at the films and said he would have operated on me the next day after I had the original x-ray. Ended up having lisfranc surgery and I have an assortment of screws in my foot as a result.
I hear you. I don’t have kids and I swing between distraught and rage. I can’t imagine how much that’s amped up for the parents around here. I’m having lunch on Thursday with a friend that had two sons rescued out of one of the cabins at La Junta that has been seen all over the news. I imagine that will be an emotional meal.
This administration cracks me up. They put out the most obvious propaganda that can easily be disproven and people just lap it up. “The average American now makes $675,000 annually” and people would believe it while looking at their bank account with less than $1,000 in it.
A whole lot of kids and families are going to need grief counseling. I hope there is some sort of way to ensure these people have access to the care that they are going to need on an ongoing basis.
Your wife is the type of clergy that I would love to have dinner with over multiple bottles of wine discussing how we got to this place. I bailed, but I commend her for keeping the faith in a world where Christianity has become hijacked by political terrorists.
Let me start by saying that I’m not religious. I have no problem with prayer. For individuals, I equate prayer to meditation or other forms of self-centering. It’s a moment of quiet reflection and reducing the external noise. Suggesting that prayer impacts outcomes, good or bad, is nuts and I don’t think even Jesus would say that their wishes didn’t come true because they didn’t pray hard enough. This isn’t rubbing a genie’s lamp and getting three wishes shit.
You’ve got all my respect. Hunt has a special place in my life having spent many summers at La Junta and way too many excruciating days at Waldemar for the closing ceremonies when my older sister was a camper.
