I don’t understand this take. Most teams spend at or near the salary cap every year. They aren’t saving money by sucking. They can’t spend more money and magically get better. This isn’t MLB.
It's not that these billionaire owners are intentionally trying to suck ass, it's that they just don't truly care if the team wins or not. They're going to make their nut regardless. So, maybe winning would require hiring a no nonsense GM who cleans house and starts running the entire organization like a professional operation. But the billionaire owner doesn't want that because he's got a guy he's comfortable with who lets him sexually harass the help and do other fucked up shit (Dan Snyder). Or they have people around them that are more concerned with their overall balance sheet involving the stadium being used for other purposes, etc. (Blank).
Also, the cap only concerns the players. You can absolutely save money on everything else involving football operations from the salaries of the GM, HC, on down. It's why the Cardinals are always Fs across the board when it comes to stuff like food for the players, amenities, etc. Their shitbag owner is a cheapskate.

I'm sure it's real frustrating for him, but at least he'll be fresh for his next team where they might actually want to win football games. He needs to pick somewhere that has an offensive minded head coach. A running back who is good enough to also be a starting slot receiver would be a wet dream for someone like Ben Johnson.
Who knows how his ligaments hold up with all his crazy cutting and juking, but Bijan is actually excellent at not taking bad hits on his runs. Guys rarely ever get to tee off on him. They just end up having to grab at his legs and hope they can drag him down. I think he has a decent shot at having an extended career compared to most modern RBs.

Colts telling everybody they're going to the Superbowl. Now they're having an all-time collapse, their starting QB is going to miss time into next season, and they gave up two 1sts for a CB that has done absolutely nothing for their garbage defense.
AD actually got the best end of that deal. Got his ass out of the dumpster fire that the Colts are becoming and gets legit playing time/targets with the Jets who are going to have a zillion draft picks to improve their team over the next two seasons.

By the time it’s built the chiefs will suck lol
Probably why the Hunt's are trying to pull this shit. They know their little run of dominance is quickly coming to a close. What do you need if you aren't a big market team and your team is ass? Well, a shiny new stadium, of course! This allows you to rent it out for concerts, other sports, etc.
It's why Arthur Blank with the Falcons doesn't really give a shit about the team winning. The Mercedes-Benz Butthole brings in a crazy amount of money for him. Oh, and he doesn't have to pay any property tax on it!

Bijan is currently 68 yards away from having the most yards from scrimmage before the age of 24.

They had Allgeier the Spare getting exactly the same amount of carries as Bijan yesterday. The Falcons seem like an organization that actively works to pull the bookshelf on itself repeatedly.
I also found myself wondering if he’s not nearing some season milestones that would trigger contractual payouts that the Falcons are trying to avoid paying out? I’d think “surely not” in most circumstances but they’re a truly shitty organization.
Mostly it's that their offensive coordinator is an idiot. They started the season 3-2 and had that big win over the Bills where Bijan had an 81 yard TD run and like 180+ yards total. Then for like the next month Bijan hardly touched the football while they decided letting their inaccurate young QB throw every down was the way they wanted to go. Promptly lost five in a row.
Though part of the reason for Allgeier getting that many touches yesterday was the Falcons went up late in that game and they were just trying to run the clock down. No reason to risk getting Bijan injured at that point.
As far as Bijan's contract goes, he's obviously still on his rookie contract and all $26 mill of it or w/e was fully guaranteed. Next year will be the last year before they have to decide to pay him a giant deal or tag him. I know the old trope about RBs not being worth paying is still a thing, but I think BIjan might be pushing $25 mill a year for his 2nd contract. Man is Top 5 at running the ball plus he also has 71 receptions for almost 800 yards. That's close to WR1 numbers and those guys get paid $30m+ a year. The current best RBs in the league like CMC and Saquon are all making $20m a year currently. Cap goes up, contracts go up, and Bijan is a unicorn so $25m per doesn't sound crazy.

Arthur Blank is a curious blend of acumen and idiocy. We all know which of those applies to business and which to football. A far less flamboyant Jerrah.
I actually don't think Arthur Blank gives a fuck if the Falcons win or not. He's got a corpo management company running his sports franchises for him. He has the new stadium which brings in bank. I think as long as he's turning a profit he really don't give a shit. Having ass kissers and people he's comfortable with matter more to him than winning. It's why he's kept Rich McKay around forever. It's why they had coaches like Harbaugh, MacDonald, Vrabel, etc. in for interviews and then they end up going with Raheem Morris for HC. Raheem ain't gonna rock the boat. He's gonna give the world salad PR speeches, never bad mouth the front office or demand change, and just keep shit in cruise control.
That's the lie that's always sold to the fans. That these billionaire owners care about winning more than anything else. Fuck no they don't. Most of them just care about sitting on their ass, watching the team's valuation continue to rise because the NFL has become more popular year after year, and to pull in that sweet, sweet TV money. If the team wins? Great! If they don't? Also great. People will still show up, buy jerseys, convince themselves the snot nosed kid they drafted in the Top 5 is gonna turn everything around, etc.

Bijan over 2k on the year now from scrimmage.
Kind of crazy considering the dumpster fire around him.
Falcons might genuinely be the worst team in the league without him. I've watched all their games and I can't think of a single one of their five measly wins they'd have without him. He's gonna get fucked out of it because he plays for the sorry ass Falcons, but he absolutely deserves OPOY.

The Falcons OL couldn't block me. And I definitely can be blocked.
Yeah, Bijan has been making them look way better than they really are for awhile now. Lindstrom is the only standout they've got. Bergeron is mid, Neuzil is mid, Matthews is old and shit now, and they're on their 3rd string RT who is a turnstile.

Da Bears were actually smart in the off-season. Got a better coach. Did heroic work to improve their O-line. And now their young QB is being developed, doesn't have to run for his life all the time, and has a solid running game to support him.
Wild that those simple steps are beyond so many idiot teams in the league. Caleb ain't all the way there yet, but he can make some plays. And now that he has some guys around him they're winning games.
