Yeah, none of this is that complicated, but it's time to pile on and get the hot take in now to drive views. You had a kid who has never started a big game, going into one of the toughest environments in college football, against one of the best defenses in the country, and had to do it Week 1 with no tune ups. He was nervous and keyed up and so his mechanics went to shit.
The hilarious part of all of this is people acting like he played miserably the entire time. Like he threw 4 INTs, fumbled all over the place, got sacked a dozen times, and had no idea what he was doing. In reality, he took care of the ball fairly well, showed his mobility, and was just off on his throws a bit. I've seen much worse performances against much worse teams from plenty of past Longhorn QBs. Including the one we just shipped off to basically be Mr. Irrelevant in the Draft.
Arch didn't anoint himself as a generational talent. No one from the team from Sark on down did either, as far as I'm aware. That was all just BS content creation by the sports media. This kid was supposed to come out game one of the season against the defending nat'l champs in their house and look like Prime VY or Cam Newton? Was that the deal? Did either of his uncles look that way back when they were in college? It's been awhile, but I seem to remember both of them being kinda shit for awhile until they got some experience under their belts.
We're going to mudhole San Jose St., UTEP, Sam Houston, Florida, the Land Thieves, Kentucky, Miss. St., and Vandy and everyone will be back on the Arch Manning bandwagon. Then the Georgia game will be the true litmus test for where Arch is as a QB. Hopefully by that time Sark has pulled his head out of his ass and figured out how to call plays in the redzone.
