  1. Could’ve missed it but CTJ, is IT just pouring their annual kool aid with ewers? Or could it really happen? From reading what IT has said before seems like he wants to but flipping twice isn’t ideal to him. IT is also IT at times. Although, I trust Gerry over there.
  2. This. I like drayton but no so long ago we were saying how he doesn’t do much in recruiting. (Before landing Bijan). players like him just like Coleman but it’s not like theyre hard to replace. Pretty obvious Carrington planned to leave when he went MIA from Twitter. He could stay but losing him to USC doesn’t scare me. It’s USC with Helton. They might as well hire Herman at the rate they’re going with former Texas staff.
  3. I’m sure it has been posted but I’ve been MIA for a few weeks. (And just got back when stoops news broke lulz horrible timing) Is Carrington staying for sure or is he leaving after NSD. Not as vocal on social media like he once was. Especially with the #allgasnobrakes, thought it was kind of odd.
  4. Gerry said a prospect is in town today. They won’t divulge into name Guessing LJ
  5. Someone who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone at bama so take that FWIW, said he has shown up drunk to practice at bama. I Didn’t believe it because no way saban would’ve allowed it and no way Texas would’ve hired him without doing some serious vetting. But Who knows now.
  6. I’m more worried that he lives through his contract.
  7. CTJ, any idea why UM never materialized?
  8. Gerry Hamilton-Urban tried to get the Cowboys job last year.Nothing has changed based on what I was told.He wants to coach again. It’s just where does he want that to be. Shelley would likely be very happy with the job being in Sunshine State.
  9. TBF, IF he was always going to coach again it’s better he chose the nfl than college. Better he spurns us for the NFL than saying no to us this year and coaching in college somewhere next year. Doesn’t matter he’s coming here. Spinner shells basically confirmed yesterday anyway.
  10. Gerry Hamilton has said numerous times that UM wanted the Dallas cowboy job last year. I haven’t watched the interview about his wife saying no to the NFL but didn’t she deny them going to Ohio state too? Don’t remember. Hopefully it’s all misdirection. Don’t see why they would deny rumors to the nfl though.
  11. What is Venables waiting on? Is he ever going to be a coach? Granted, Auburn is a bad example but he’s had opportunities. Edit: nvm saw replies about this after
  12. Someone please put ketch’s face on jabba
  13. Ahhh got it. Now it’s coming back, kinda. I think burton just mentioned him but never said anything relating him to UM. And then I think this thread put it all together and found his plane and then ketch, ketched it up. But now that I have your attention CTJ, does Herman know he’s gone? Doesn’t matter to me one way or the other but just curious has Herman seems oblivious and acts like nothing is his fault.
  14. Seems long ago but I forgot how the posts were different. Burton said eltife (no idea on his last name) first and then ketch said it way after burton. What’s the difference? Didn’t they spill the same thing or no? Just don’t understand why people are saying ketch messed up. I agree he messes up everything but thought it was Burton’s fault first.
  15. By: IT Staff SCENARIO 3/3.5 We’ve been urging patience regarding coaching resolution and will continue to do so. So will our sources. “I just know nothing will happen until after New Years.” - high level source to @Bobby Burton. Inside Texas has heard the same from two other quality sources this week. As the echoes of the Scenario 1 death rattle pings through Bellmont Hall’s....er, halls, Scenario 3 (search for a commoner) and 3.5 (search for an upper-middle class candidate) are in the developmental stages. Urban Meyer declining his invitation to coach at Texas did two things: 1) It prolonged the search timeline. This is obvious but also requires explanation. We won’t say all the eggs were in that basket but all of the effort required to pull that hire off was, and landing him was the only time sensitive acquisition out there given the positive effects it would have had on recruiting. Also, he didn’t have a real job and could have left the TV set at any time. That was a unique circumstance the other candidates don’t find themselves in. 2) It scattered the BB’s ever so slightly. That was foretold to happen in these very pages if Texas missed on Meyer. That brief scattering on the floor was cleaned up before it led to too many embarrassing slip ups like the Wet Bandits trying to burgle. Maybe we’ll return to that topic in a retrospective but for now it should be accepted as positive news. Thinags could change with a couple public declinations, but for now this is not resembling disorganization or a circus. When Meyer declined it guaranteed nothing would happen soon. Both the unrealistic and realistic candidates are all still coaching for titles of varying prestige. The belief behind the scenes is that time is an ally. Fans — short for fanatics — will disagree, but if the goal is to make a great hire then sure and steady is the way things have to be. From what we can gather, none of the decision makers view Texas as being in desperation mode. You’re not going to see what’s occurring at Auburn occurring at Texas. Even Greg Fenves understood how to handle transition. We’ve been told any names that are circling are speculation, but we’ve heard one name more frequently than the others. You’ll understandably want a name but if you take a step back I’m sure you’ll understand why we can’t give it yet. It would undoubtedly be a good hire but there’s a long way to go. No, we’re not trying to drum up subs or some other nonsense. Keeping the name quiet hurts us in that regard, but it does allow the school to operate in relative silence. The trilateral commission (AD, president, and BOR) is cognizant of the fact some quality coaches will want to use Texas to get a raise. That will be difficult to do because there is no opening. However, talks could progress to a point a candidate has an offer from Texas as well as his current school and will have to make a choice. That’s the gamble but it happens every day in the real world. The belief is if they handle the process correctly, it will yield greater results than haphazardly shooting boatloads of money out of a t-shirt cannon in the general direction of well known coaches. TEAM Texas returned to practice on Tuesday and again on Thursday. It was more of ‘back to basics’ as the team had restricted workouts during the team’s COVID issues last week. The next team practice is to be determined. The team will learn its potential bowl location and opponent on Sunday. The most likely destination is the Cheez It Bowl or the Alamo Bowl for a team that will look very different from the last time we saw it. Sam Cosmi, Caden Sterns, Chris Brown, and Joseph Ossai have all opted out and are preparing for the NFL Draft. It’s an opportunity for the younger players to put out good film heading into the spring. With Cosmi out and Derek Kerstetter's injury, the offensive line continues to shuffle. The current projection from left-to-right: Karic-Angilau-Majors-Jones-Okafor. But there will be more shuffling. We’re seeing more Andrej Karic at left tackle after his play versus Kansas State. Christian Jones has moved to RG, with Okafor moving the other direction to RT. We’re also hearing Tyler Johnson has been working at RG/RT and true freshman Jaylen Garth has been at RT. Garth has been at full strength the last two weeks and hopes to finish strong and be in a position to contribute in 2021. At wide receiver, Brennan Eagles remains uncertain of his return or declaring for the draft. Marcus Washington is another player not guaranteed to return. Jared Wiley’s shoulder continues to mend and his availability for the bowl game is uncertain. On defense, you’ll see more Jett Bush at jack, Jerrin Thompson at field safety, and Kitan Crawford at corner. BJ Foster is still nursing what we believe is a hamstring injury. IT has learned Texas could lose a young defensive back to the Portal soon after the addition of McNeese State grad transfer Darion Dunn. It’s a player who might have contributed in a more minor role next year. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown continues to weigh his options on returning for his senior year. On the offensive line, Derek Kerstetter and Denzel Okafor have yet to decide if they’ll return for 2021. Willie Tyler, who opted out earlier in the year, may also return but is undecided. One of the few areas of concern on defense next year will be defensive end. Moro Ojomo, playing out of position, came on strong, but the team could use more burst off the edge. Jacoby Jones is undecided on his return (we think it’s possible, if not likely) but we’ve heard Marqez Bimage is expected back.
  16. I don’t know how the lid has been kept on so long. IT seems to be the only one who has heard names, but aren’t spilling. Of course could be 9.95 talk. Let’s fantasize and pretend it’s not UM. Does Texas really know what they’re doing? Just really surprising no names have been mentioned. That’s a good thing, we just aren’t use to no leaks. Nahlin just shot down sark saying “it’s too risky”. Guessing he heard that from someone. So they obviously want a proven coach. That would leave Mullen and Kelly. Think Mullens a no and don’t see Kelly leaving but there’s a better chance there than Mullen. Even if he was interested, you would think ND would match an offer or close to it due to the season he just had. So would that mean sark wouldn’t be that risky if Kelly/Mullen are a no? Lol if Kelly comes here and UM goes to ND.
  17. Yes but wasn’t she also adamant he wouldn’t coach again, the first time?
  18. Haven’t checked in here in awhile. TLDR. Is sanders still signing with Texas ?
  19. So cross off Mullen. If it’s not campbell or Mullen. Elliott? But there’s no need to wait this long he’s just a coordinator. Coordinators have taken jobs but still coaches rest of games that year. Maybe not Elliott then.
  20. Burton I continue to be told that Texas is working behind the scenes on a number of possible coaching scenarios, some of which are further along than others. Frankly put, some of those feelers and subsequent conversations have been more well received than others. However, I expect no major, external movement of any sort until after the various conference championship games. Instead, I expect the normal behind-the-scenes machinations that come with situations like this, and that includes ongoing vetting of potential coaches and assuaging the concern and fears of the existing staff. Please note that just about every major coach Texas would pursue is playing in a conference championship game or in the middle of their NFL season. In other words, if you woke up this morning hoping for a major revelation from me on the coaching front, I’m sorry to disappoint. I’d say patience is the operative word. ** I got the low down on all of the Texas freshman yesterday and how they have been perceived internally. We’ll go quickly position-by-position. At QB, Hudson Card came out of the gate strong. He understood the offense, whereas Ja’Quinden Jackson struggled in his first couple of weeks on campus with the nuances of the position. Card throws crisp passes and makes quick decisions. He is considered the best thrower on the roster, and that includes Sam Ehlinger. Jackson, on the other hand, has really come on of late. He is starting to look like a real long-term option at QB because he has been a relatively quick study and because he is so talented. Props were given to both Jackson for his effort and attention to detail and QB coach Mike Yurcich for Jackson’s development and consistent approach even when Jackson clearly would not play much this season. Suffice to say, the existing Texas staff is extremely excited with the freshman QBs. At running back, Bijan Robinson is the most explosive back on the team and perhaps in the conference. He is also a team-leader type, and that could be very valuable in the long run. When a team’s best players are actually the best teammates, good things tend to happen. The wide receivers in the 2020 class are a bit of a mixed bag. Troy Omeire literally wowed the coaches in fall camp. As outside receivers for Texas have struggled to get off press coverage this season, Omeire is considered the answer. Coaches don’t expect him to merely be good, they think he is a different breed. Words truly can not express how dominant the coaches think Omeire can be. Sometimes players walk onto the field and they’re just different. That’s Omeire. Kelvontay Dixon has shown some ability and is still considered a good take for the Horns. Dajon Harrison is a different situation. His decision, following an injury, to opt out really kind of took the coaching staff by surprise and disappointed them. It’s an unnecessary lost year of development for him. Along the OL, Herb Hand struck gold at center. Jake Majors is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of player. The staff expects Majors to be an eventual team captain and multi-year starter. Likewise, Andrej Karic has already pushed up the depth chart to become a factor. The question is not whether Karic will be a contributor or starter for the Horns over the long term, it’s at what position. Will he be good enough to play left tackle, or is he tailor-made for a right tackle spot? Unfortunately, just like a prospector sometimes hits gold, he sometimes gets less than rosy results. It’s way too early to write off Logan Parr by any means, but early results are the expectation of that of a late-career starter or solid back-up. And perhaps the worst news is that Jaylon Garth may very well end up being a medical opt out in time. His initial injury was severe and it just isn’t coming around as much as all had hoped. Again, it’s way too early to write offensive linemen off because of the development time they take, but that’s where those two sit currently. On the defensive front, Alfred Collins has already played in every game and is a known commodity. One coach called him the best young DL talent he’s ever been around. Vernon Broughton is expected to be a terrific interior pass rusher in the long run. His combo of burst and size make him an ideal threat to get after the QB. Sawyer Goram-Welch is considered one of the finds of the class. While he is currently playing DT, he could move over to offense in the off-season and try his hand at either guard or tackle. Coaches really like his motor, toughness and better-than-anticipated athleticism. At linebacker, Jaylan Ford has stepped into a potential heir apparent as the most talented linebacker on the team. Coaches like his combo of football smarts, size and relative quickness. They also think he’s football tough. Ford will likely end up a multi-year starter for the Horns. Jayden Hullaby and Prince Dorbah are the other two LBs in the class. Dorbah has plus-ability but coaches would like him to show more tenacity and a greater commitment in his desire to develop as a player. Hullaby is different in that regard. He’s considered a blue collar, lunch pail type. He will strike you and he has no problem giving it everything he’s got on every play. In the secondary, Kitan Crawford, Xavian Alford, and Jerrin Thompson all have the cut of future starters. Coaches are particularly high of late on Crawford and Alford as they have shown signs of growing into their plus-athleticism with more and more practice reps. Thompson is considered a savvy football player. Alford was singled out as a potential captain-type long term. Crawford is the most physically gifted of the group. That leaves Jahdae Barron, who has already seen significant action on special teams. Barron has some work ahead of him to define his role better but he has the requisite talent to be a contributor and possible starter
  21. There could be all this talk that he staying to keep the recruiting class together for nsd1. Nahlin basically said FCB is saying that to make up for the bonitto incident years back.
  22. https://footballscoop.com/news/report-matt-campbell-has-his-eyes-on-a-few-jobs-in-particular/ Not interested in Texas job allegedly.
  23. Gerry keeps saying urban will coach again. If he does and it’s not Texas, any idea why? Just didn’t like Texas or what? Seems like it wasn’t Texas who messed this up. Just trying to wrap me head around why he wouldn’t wanna coach here. Not because I’m a fan and why wouldn’t anyone wanna coach here lulz. But Texas has all the resources.
