  1. No, it encourages bad behavior.
  2. A similar situation happened to my fiancee's dog a couple of years ago. It was a sudden event. The dog was about 12 years old and had what looked like a stroke. The event lasted just a couple of seconds but it left the dog without the ability to stand. Up to that point there was no indicators at all. Took the dog to the vet about 10:00pm. The vet said that it was a neurological event (cannot remember the term) and that they could do an exploratory surgery but could not guarantee any success. Sadly, it was universally agreed that the best option was to put the dog down.
  3. My cat, Scratch, is an inside/outside cat. He decided to take a nap on the patio. I suppose he finds this comfortable.
  4. I grew up in a neighborhood in a rural setting just outside of town. There were about 6 of us boys in the neighborhood that were all within 3 to 4 years of age range. We were surrounded by woods and fairly close to I-20. We would constantly ride our bikes up to the truck stop to look at the semi-trucks and climb all over the new trucks at the KW and Peterbilt dealerships. No one seemed to care. The people at the two truck dealerships would even give us models and brochures of the trucks. The farthest point that we rode our bikes in a single direction was just over 10 miles. No one knew that we did that until we went pedaling up to my aunt and uncle's house on the other side of town because we were thirsty. In my 12 year old mind those were much simpler times.
  5. A two-fer. Not sure who got there first…but still.
  6. Seeing this freaked me out a bit at first. Been to the South Rim numerous times and am familiar with the lodging (El Tovar, etc.) in that area; not so much the North Rim When I first read the headline my thoughts went to the Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone where we will be staying in early October.
  7. I like the convenience of having pictures on my phone. I am not a tech geek so I am probably doing a lot of things wrong or there is an easier way but it is something that I know and am comfortable with. I travel a lot domestically and internationally therefore I have a lot of opportunities for some really cool photos. I actually use the photos on my phone as a sort of a diary of my travels for both work and play. Though I get some decent photos (many shared on here) with my I-Phone 11, there are times where I would like to zoom in and bring some distant siting into a closer view. I am really not that interested in purchasing a camera to solve the problem but would rather buy some type of attachment or some sort of Bluetooth gadget that I could zoom in with and have the image on my phone/I-pad to take the picture. Any of you Surlyites out there have any suggestions or recommendations?
  8. My cat, Scratch, sleeps on his back often. I do have to be alert sometimes of the potential rabbit kick and front paws grab and quick gentle bite.
  9. I fly into and out of ATL Hartsfield 2 to 3 times a month as a connector from SHV. For me, of all of the multiple airports, domestic and international, I find it to be the easiest to navigate.
  10. SIAP. Able-bodied people that stand and ride moving sidewalks particularly at airports. Listen, you are about to get on a flight or have just got off a flight where you had been sitting and getting no exercise. Is a little walk going to kill you?
  11. Did not even try
  12. Donated. You and your organization are good people for doing this. @Bob Lives!
  13. Turbo for the win. I had almost all of the high marks back in the day at our local Aladdin's Castle in the mall.
  14. I was driving west today on I-20. I was doing just a tad over 80 and passed a semi that was traveling just under 80. Emblazoned on the side of his rig was “Left Lane Haulers”. IIRC they are a trucking company operating out of Dallas. After passing several other trucks he politely moved over to the RH lane.
  15. This gets to me every time. I realize that people are having a conversation that requires at least two people. The problem is that the sound coming across the phone has a totally irritating tone than someone sitting next to you that you are having a conversation with.
  16. Monument Valley is on my TO DO list.
  17. I would love to wear contacts but there is no way on God’s green earth will you find me voluntarily touching my eyeballs. So…I suffer with wearing glasses and trials that it brings.
  18. This right here. People abroad are enamored with Texas. That is why I always go with “Texas”.
  19. I usually go with "I'm Texan".
  20. Going through security at the Calgary International Airport they made all take our shoes off. Not a problem, I get it, but it is a rare occasion for me with all my travels. The problem was that there were no places to sit to put your shoes back on after clearing security. Everyone was having to catch a knee to put their shoes on if they weren’t wearing slip-ons.
  21. The sequence of parking: The Bronco was the first to arrive followed by the Ford truck. The Audi was last to the party.
  22. I had some meetings in southern British Columbia in Fernie/Sparwood this week. I flew into Calgary and drove through Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park and did some hiking along the way. The pics below are from Johnston Canyon in Banff and Marble Canyon and Numa Falls in Kootenay.
  23. That is the only way that I would attempt tackle Earl….that or flag football.
