  1. So, even with a rocket failure, Hamas/PIJ achieves its objective....
  2. I assume it depends on the launch location. If far north near the Israeli border, doubtful. If launched further south, possible?
  3. No, I am objective. I support Israel, but not blindly.
  4. I think there is close to zero chance that Israel would/did intentionally target the hospital, and I have no doubt that a good number of Hamas (or equal) rockets malfunction and land in Gaza. But, I have never heard of a Palestinian rocket capable of such damage/death toll.
  5. Any chili/pepper I use is ultimately going in the vitamix.
  6. “You have to be a real dishonest piece of shit to” sidestep this and demand agreement that the US and Israeli governments are terrorist organizations.
  7. Not willing to play that DEFINITION game. By your standard, all human beings are criminals, dishonest, etc. The US and Israeli government/militaries have done indefensible awful things. They are not terrorist organizations.
  8. And the Israeli government, and both worse than Hamas…. How does anyone have a rational dialogue with this?
  9. Hyperbole much? There are not 1.1m anyone being genocided right now. And, no, that does not mean I endorse the shit those people are enduring.
  10. Yup, there is the rub. No one disagrees with Hugo's comment, but none of the Israel critics (not you, Hugo) suggest any acceptable response by Israel that is actually calculated to protect Israel from future attack, that they would endorse (or at least not criticize) - other, of course, than Israel end the blockade, put down their arms, and trust that Palestinians treated with dignity and respect are sure to reciprocate.
  11. Except here, where the avowed motivation of the terrorists is racism. Hamas, like the KKK, is both terrorist and racist.
  12. To paraphrase Cheeto, there are pieces of shit on both sides.
  13. The only cheering I have seen thus far is for Hamas. To the remarkable contrary, the comments from Israel, including from people with family members currently (if they are lucky alive and) held hostage by Hamas, has been almost uniformly empathetic toward Gaza's civilian population.

Had good meals this past ACL weekend at Oseyo and Super Thai. Would go back to both.
  15. Met friends there on Monday for our annual ACL getaway lunch. It was meh. If open Monday, I would have pushed for E y Mas.
  16. Security has always been tight/loose depending on the day, the person searching, whether you are the every x person, etc. But, when tight/thorough, it can be very much so. And, I seem to always get at least enough of a look that anything obvious would be discovered. I am always flabbergasted at the number of vapes, etc. that make it through.
  17. And, that even while doing just that, any serious effort to fight Hamas will result in unintended Palestinian civilian casualties.
  18. Hmm, no blockade of the West Bank, controlled by the PA, which is not a terrorist organization; blockade of Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, an Iranian proxy terrorist organization with the stated goal of elimination of Israel and Jews. You do the math.
  19. This gets right to the heart of why people who claim they are just criticizing the Israeli government are sometimes actually (and accurately called out as) anti-Semites.
  20. The goal/purpose of Israeli military actions is not to kill civilians, including babies. With the possible exception of rogue criminal settler behavior, there is no equivalence between Israeli defense action and the pogrom just perpetrated by Hamas. Although you will clap back with some bullshit, I expect you actually know that is true.
  21. Jew here. I guarantee you a huge number of American Jews, including damn near all who identify as democrats, agree with you.
  22. There are reasons for the blockade, which can be debated, but it is not simply to oppress the Palestinian people. The blockade is a governmental policy. It is also supported and assisted by Egypt. It is a bit simplistic to argue that the effects of Israeli and Egyptian governmental policy is a crime against humanity perpetrated by the IDF.
  23. A more focused step 1 could solve things while still allowing the masses their opium - get rid of fundamentalists (of all faiths).
  24. The IDF does as much or more than any military in the world to honor just that, but they seem to be the only country/armed forces judged by a standard of perfection.
