  1. Lol, the penalty system was literally changed because the Hondas kept failing so much a few years ago.
  2. They are, and my reply was mostly sarcasm, because this stuff happens relatively often. They want to make sure they don’t get caught out for the same thing. Everyone on mediums to start the race except TSU on sorts.
  3. Car 33 has replaced the rear wing upper flap and seat under parc ferme. [emoji3166]
  4. Right, so why does that mean it’s not then 0.2 out from what it should normally be (according to their own specification) be at base opening before force is applied? What if they normally set it at say 84.5 (knowing that it does deflect some) so that it passes the test, and it was now at 84.7 and failed? The teams test this stuff themselves, too, which is why they probably would have caught it before Q on a normal weekend.
  5. It was out by 0.2mm on the left side only. They believe it was damaged during Q. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mercedes-hamiltons-wing-failed-tests-by-just-02mm/6778697/
  6. That goes against pretty much everything said in the stewards report. Also, they are checked on the top 10 cars after qualy anyway, so it passed the previous 18 times on both cars.
  7. On a regular weekend they would have discovered the wing issue after FP2 or something, though.
  8. Absolutely. All teams do this. I’m just saying that the DRS gap is not something Max would have noticed. I don’t even know what Max was doing poking around the wings, since the Merc wing did pass the test completely in the closed position.
  9. Red Bull were trying to protest something different. They are saying that the element itself bends at above 260 km/h or so. It seems that the Merc wing was okay by just placing the check tool into the wing, but it has to also pass with a 10N force applied. Once force was applied, it failed. So basically, it was really, really close. Any performance gain would be marginal, but it did fail the test, so it’s a DSQ.
  10. Ham DSQ. Sounds like parts fatigue or incorrect assembly and it was just baaaarely out. Basically, they sympathized that it wasn’t intentional, but rules are rules. The gist of it is on the second page first paragraph.
  11. Thanks for the kind words. I pretty much agree with you fully. I hardly use Instagram. At least as a producer. I use it as a consumer maybe 3-5 times a week. It’s a lot of damn effort, too. I’m only 32 but it feels like it has already passed me by! Haha. Going to go yell at a cloud now. I haven’t heard of Dan. I’ll look him up.
  12. Not sure how well these will display. Full size 192MP image here. Full size 80mp image here. Full size 110mp image here.
  13. We got ourselves a good old wing-gate! Max was also touching the wing on Lewis’ car after Q, which is apparently not allowed. Might get interesting.
  14. Probably, but it’s not that simple either. Lots of things have gone into it. The regulations affected them (and AM) the most with the floor cuts, and of course there is not only a budget cap but a token spend limit of 2, so they were never going to really be able to claw that back very well. Because of this they do not make as much efficient downforce as Red Bull, so they’re trying to get around it with brute force, which is causing engines to wear quickly.
  15. Likely DSQ from qualifying, but they will report to stewards about it. So unless it was broken or something in someway, he will start sprint race from the back.
  16. Yes, it’s manual. They typically hear a beep in their headset when they pass that line.
  17. It’s saying they start the 19th event (race) with a new X component.
  18. May be able to watch on the ESPN app with your cable provider? It’s possible it would allow you to watch there.
