  1. I was just digging around our laundry room and found the dog shit money. We still have it. She hasn’t tried to piece it together from what I can tell. But she hasn’t sent it in either.
  2. What the shit is this. It’s super invasive and weaves through my St Augustine. How do I get rid of it?
  3. I used to not be a shipleys fan. Ken’s on Guadalupe was my bomb in college. Then they went and fucked things up and last time I went (7 yrs ago?) they were terrible. Anyway, I moved on and consider Shipleys a solid donut. I get them for my kids about once a month. The employees all know me (which is sad) and my order. Always includes a single glazed that is hot off the presses. Eat that mofo in the car on the way home. I wish more places would use the dot sprinkles on their donuts instead of the lines. Dots are better.
  4. Just wrapped up coaching a 7U All Star team after coaching an 8U team this spring. Heading cats. I think my coaching career is over. I did have a lot of fun, but I’m ready to be a spectator. My spring team over performed and my All Star team under performed. My kid has turned into a solid consistent hitter. His fielding is atrocious sometimes, great others - not great as much as it needs to be. He’s figuring it out though and that is fun to watch.
  5. We just completed an order for replacing 19 windows in my house to match 5 I put in during remodel. Holy f. Expensive tastes I guess. Told me 12-14 weeks for them to come in. Their going to look great, but that’s a long time to wait. Aluminum clad wood casement windows for majority, we are going vinyl sliders for a couple that are out of view. Size seems to be the biggest variable in costs for me. 72” windows do not come cheap.
  6. I probably go international 2-3 times a year (normal years).
  7. Wow. Great info. We are going with another couple in September. Fishing trip is booked. That’s it. So what I’m hearing is we should stay on St John? Wives will not be fishing so I want to make sure they are taken care of. I would book that Deja place but it’s booked solid for a long time out. I’m not opposed to vrbo, but think we’re leaning hotel on this one. Thoughts? As of right now, other guy is saying St Thomas and ritz, but he doesn’t want to pay for ritz. His wife will make him...
  8. I’m having to do a renewal interview. I cannot find a chance to schedule at all - remote or in person. As of right now, I’m good until sometime next year (actually expired in March but they said it is extended for a period). Best option is going to be on return from a trip. Which sucks.
  9. My wife won 2 of the raffles our girls softball all stars team had. One of them was $500 cash. She feels guilty. I told her to send in the shit money and take this as a sign. I also outlined 3 different locations in our house she could keep that money that would be safe.
  10. We ended season 3rd. First week got us, started out 0-3. Ended up 10-3-1. Won’t turn down a 10 game winning streak. Started tourney last night. Best player was a no-show. Thanks mom. We kept it together and won. Play a tough team tonight. We are 1-1-1 against them this season. Side note, my kid is one of those who over thinks batting in games, so he has had struggles. The other day he was trying to knock over a coffee cup while practicing. He was crushing balls. So he gets up to bat last night and I call out (from 1st base coach) “hit the coffee cup”. He gets a big smile on his face and cranks a double. So I did that the rest of the game. 3-3, double and two singles, 4 RBIs. Other coaches were like “wtf is the coffee cup”.
  11. Oh, and I noticed this last night:
  12. We have a window guy coming to measure our windows and talk about what we’re looking for in terms of replacements. Wife just now “I want different quotes for different value windows” Me “Guy is coming to measure, he’s not going to tell us anything about costs” Wife “Ok, well I want to know how much these windows will be (pointing at a window)” Me “He’s coming to measure. He’ll leave and then send a few quote” Wife “(frustrated)Fine, I’ll just ask him if I’m back (taking kids to school)” Should be a fun meeting
  13. That trampoline isn’t close enough to the pool for the kids to use it correctly.
  14. I told my wife about the poop knife last night. I explained how it worked and then how there was a chick that would slice it up. She started dry heaving and almost puked. She couldn’t believe it was real. I asked how she got all those pieces of bills sitting in our laundry room. She almost puked again.
  15. Not sure what she knows about it. It’s her deal at this point. But if that’s the case, I might fill that form out and send it off. She did tell me something about 36 months.
  16. Yeah, there are some big pieces. This is a bigger dog, weighs about 60+. They were folded rolled and looked small. As those were unfolded you would have thought she won the lottery. We should have taken more pics of the process.
  17. It’s tough to see the ones in the back. I don’t believe there are 6 full bills here, just 6 Bens.
  18. Wife tried ironing it between parchment paper a while back. That brought out the deep stink. It has since been sprayed heavily with cleaner. Remember this next time you get some “used” money. Never know where it’s been.
  19. I have been avoiding this thread, but cannot any longer. My in-laws gave us a check around xmas for $1500. Wife asked me to get cash for her because if it goes into our bank account, it’ll be used for other things. Also, she doesn’t want me to know how much she spends on her nails. (For the record, I don’t care what she spends on them). No problem. So I go to bank and come home with cash in an envelope. 15 hundred dollar bills. She used a couple bills for something and the the envelope floated around the house for a week or so. One night as I was putting the dog ( There isn’t another shred of a bill anywhere. No sign of envelope. Later we’re standing in the yard trying to figure it out. She thinks they tore it up and it blew away. No way, wind wasn’t that hard. I get a paper towel and shred it, toss it around the yard. “See, not moving”. Other dog, 2yr old mix walks around and eats every single piece of paper towel I put down. A fucking vacuum. Next day dog shits, I spray it down with the hose. Full of shredded money. I told her to write it off as a dumb mistake. No way. She’s got gloves on and is cleaning every shit from both dogs for the next week. It was only ever found in older dog. One day she’s going to tape the money back together and send it in as damaged currency. For now it’s in a pile in the laundry room, waiting to get lost or accidentally thrown away. We have a conversation about never letting the dogs have free reign again while we’re gone. We have dog door and mud room set up specifically for them. Fast forward to today. I’m running out with kids for school. She’s going walking with neighbor. “I’m leaving the dogs out, I won’t be gone very long,” she says. Sure? Ok. 8:30 I get a text with a pic asking what shit is on the floor. They are something of the kids that exploded and is stuck to our rug we got in Morocco a few years ago. I really want to ask her when she’s going to learn. I feel like I know the answer. tldr; dogs ate wife’s money, after she trusts them again they tore up shit and fucked up a rug.
  20. Got my Pfizer 2 on Friday at 10am. By 8 pm I was starting to get a fever. Ran over 102 until morning. Mild fever all day Saturday with headache. Hit 102 again during the night. Finally felt better later this morning around 10.
  21. Read this last week. Fastest book I’ve ever read - couldn’t put it down. Just finished The Killer Inside Me. I need something like The Light to jump on next. My wife has a list but figured I’d check here first.
  22. Well, I wouldn’t go that far. Hybrid life insurance/long term care can be a better deal than straight up long term care (think car insurance - use it or lose it). Also, the basis for this thread, LIRP, can be a benefit. Everyone’s situation is different and saying that something is bad for everyone is short sighted. I just had a client die who was 92. She had a life insurance policy that we almost dumped a few years ago. We did the math and keeping it made more sense than using the premium for investments. To be clear, I did not sell her the policy. It was paying for itself for many years and it was about to lapse unless a premium was paid.
  23. If the policy lapses, matures or is surrendered the distributions will be taxable. You will get notice when the values become an issue with options. Biggest concern with loans on policies are usually the policy lapsing.
  24. Kids blew the first game of the year to a team we should have crushed. They were not listening and kept throwing behind the runner. That was turning into errors and runs. Son did well, 2/3 with 2 singles. He struck out on his last at bat. Daughter is playing 8U softball. She had 2 games today. I missed the first and pitched for the 2nd. She hit a line drive that went to the wall for a home run. It was awesome. Her first legit home run (not because of errors).
