  1. I’ll always be here for the Longhorn games, even the patsy non-con September games, but no one should be expected to be overly excited for such games. One of them, maybe two, but never (3) such games
  2. The September college football non-conference slate needs an enema as usual….
  3. At this exact moment in time, I think it’s a fair conversation granted we all might be singing a different tune 2 months from now after Arch has gotten more reps in meaningful games as The Longhorns starting QB
  4. Off topic, but any signs of the elk rut yet? Heading to Estes P. last week of September
  5. That was good stuff. Thanks for posting
  6. I got in late. Did Sark comment on the WRs struggling to get separation?
  7. Especially on those short 5-yard crossers
  8. UPDATE: I’ve read several game analyses of the Ohio State game. Sounds like our WR’s absolutely struggled to get separation, and Texas didn’t go very deep into their WR rotation. Now it could be that Ohio State’s secondary and scheming were elite, but it’s definitely something to watch going forward.
  9. Read some game analysis from several sources. Sounds like our WR core did indeed struggle to get much separation in the game and they didn’t go very deep into their WR rotation so this is a legit concern granted Ohio State coverage and scheming could prove to be elite.
  10. Pressure is a very real thing for all QBs, and fair to say, more so for Arch Manning than most……..but dealing with that pressure and performing is also part of the job. We’ll see how this progresses.
  11. I will be very curious to see/hear a breakdown of WR performances in the Ohio State game since the live broadcast really doesn’t allow or a good assessment of this position group off screen
  12. Well, OP pretty much said it. We’ve got a solid month (3 games & a BYE week) that offers zero opportunity to measure and assess this team’s much needed progression after their week 1 performance, granted it was week 1…..on the road….against a defending champion top ranked team. San Jose State, UTEP, & Sam Houston State are what they are so pretty much nothing can be gleamed by performances in those games. That next opportunity will come the first week of October at The Swamp. It’s easy, and appropriate, to consider that repeatedly we’ve seen team quality week 1 to week 2 historically jump considerably. It’s also true that something was very wrong with the offense in The Shoe yesterday be that the shortcomings of a still inexperienced starting QB under enormous pressure, a coaching staff that stuck to a conservative game plan too long, or possibly even that our starting WR group has taken a step back compared to the heavily transfer portal-fed groups the past couple of years. There are a lot of possibilities to consider, but for now all we can do is wait for the SEC schedule. Right now I see a lot of possible futures on the table, and they are all over the map from outright disaster to early growing pains give way to true contender. But though we all like to opine, some quite strongly, none of us know a damn thing what to expect anymore than we did at 11am Saturday afternoon in Columbus. But these next few weeks……don’t get too high and don’t get too low.
  13. People need to understand that there is some validity to this point of view. It’s confusing w/ players that come onto campus w/ a lot of hype (like many Texas recruits at prime positions arrive with). But some players arrive and perform to expectations immediately while others take time. And still others never perform to expectations.
  14. My man, you should have a lot of concerns. I think there’s a way back for sure, but there are a lot of questions on the offensive side of the ball coming out of that game. Play-calling couldn’t have been more vanilla……to be expected game 1 w/ a new starting QB I guess. But when allowed to pass, Arch was hella inaccurate, and really seemed to telegraph his thows. One wonders about our WRs too, but I couldn’t really assess that on most of the live broadcast.
  15. Nowhere near ready for prime time. The question now is can they ever be?
  16. Needless to say, between now and the SEC schedule, this offense is going to have to get light years better or you can cancel any CFP plans. I’m willing to give them a little rope for a game 1 road loss in The Shoe, but for now, any and all criticism’s are warranted
  17. Bad throw….luckily no INT
  18. A lot of nothing today from both teams. They just did a little more “something”
  19. Not much sugarcoating that throw….
  20. A lot of nothing and a running clock this quarter
  21. Well……those are the moments……
  22. Yep, I’m seeing the same
  23. Both defenses playing a lot of max coverage, neither coach allowing their inexperience QBs to test it much. Anybody been able to assess our WRs getting open because I haven’t been able to watch that much (maybe watch the replay later)
  24. Careful, careful, careful half by both teams. That’s OK as long as the score’s 7-0, but eventually they’ll have to release the hounds
