  1. Great post. Re the bolded, I tend to give that scenario more than a "slight chance" based alone on the fact that "giving false no's to everyone around him" was precisely his modus operandi during the period of rumors leading up to him taking the tOSU job. Further to that point, this is not his first rodeo and he clearly knows that anything he directly says one way or the other, to anyone and even if in confidence, has a high probably of leaking out and igniting rumors. He also has a legacy and close relationships at tOSU he wants to preserve as much as possible as well as a family to protect from public scrutiny (read: from rabid tOSU fan base - imagine how bad they'd be if we moved from rumor to "it's truly happening" phase). And, as shown w/r/t Fickell and tOSU during Urban's last coaching transition, he seems to hold himself to some standards of professionalism in this sort of situation such that he is going to vehemently deny any public discussion about taking a job before it's open and the target team's season is a wrap (probably less of a consideration w/r/t Herman in this case, and more for his tOSU buddies and the players at both schools). Given what we know, Urban would strongly prefer to say nothing at all. But that option was taken off the table when the public spectacle blew up (literally on national television) and was having the same practical effect as if he had indicated a "yes." So it would be logical that his only option in that situation is to "give out false no's to everyone around him."
  2. Has Shake Shack been discussed? Sure it has. I didn't want to like it and they're overpriced as hell, but there's something about them to me that kicks.
  3. Going solely off of places I've actually had them: Czech Stop > Kolache Shoppe > Hruska's > Kolache Factory > Shipley's
  4. Haha appreciate it. Surviving and thriving, feeling good. Think him and his wife are really going to enjoy that cross-country trip.
  5. I don't know shit, but speculation is Urban, if he were to accept the job, wouldn't do so until (at earliest) the weekend of the 19th after conference championship games are played and his Fox contract expires or (at latest) after tOSU has wrapped up any playoff run, which could extent to the CFP final on January 11th. Assuming one agrees with that, question is really whether you have Herman or no head coach in place come NSD 1.
  6. Damn, that looks great. And apparently my co-workers suck when tested against that bar.
  7. So far we've covered condiments, burgers and butts on this page alone. Just need to discuss barbeque and worst TX towns for bingo.
  8. Checking in for night crew and digging the electricity in this thread.
  9. Crowd skepticism warranted, but two flights leaving KOSU for HSB at the same time (to the minute) is highly, highly unusual. Most traffic out of KOSU is either loop flights (right back to KOSU) or to other parts of Ohio, not a lot of out-of-state (especially to TX). HSB is just low traffic generally. Just saying, noteworthy. There really aren't, normally. Will just say that the number through the course of last week appears to be an outlier.
  10. Urban is stealing both Clemson coordinators? Even better!
  11. Okay, so I scoured the OSU and John Glenn airports in Columbus for interesting flights over the last few days (I also checked Longview and Tyler airports as suggested), and this is what I've got. Plane 1: Went Laredo TX to Columbus last night. Owned and operated by Kalitta Charters, a flight charter company out of Michigan that is reputable -- e.g., does a lot of work for the Department of Defense -- and operates out of Bergstrom and in other TX areas. Plane returned to Kalitta HQ after the trip. Plane 2: Went Houston to Columbus on Monday, then Columbus to Sarasota FL yesterday. Operated by NetJets, so not reaching much into subsequent stops. Plane 3: After being in Columbus late last week, went to Longview and Brownsville TX last Thursday. On Sunday, it went from Brownsville back to Columbus. Plane 4: One of the planes we were tracking last week that went from Horseshoe Bay to KOSU this past Sunday. Bounced around since then (it's another NetJets-operated plane), but it's upcoming itinerary for today and tomorrow is showing Chicago --> KOSU --> Horseshoe Bay. Plane 5: Went from Sarasota to KOSU earlier in the week. Has made a couple hops in South Carolina since then, with next leg to Clemson SC this afternoon. Clearly Urban coming back from the FL vacation and checking out a couple SC golf courses before going to steal Brent Venables away from Clemson.
  12. Just thinking out loud but, given the positive COVID-19 tests were conducted on Saturday or Sunday morning (i.e., a matter of hours after the entire team was confined in a plane together with the infected), you have to expect 5 positive individuals would be many multiples of that as far as contact tracing goes. Way more so than if the tests were done mid-week.
  13. No disrespect to the sport and fans of it, but please GTFO of here with the soccer bullshit. This thread is limited to speculation and discussion of UM to UT, best condiments, worst TX towns, burgers, barbeque and butts.
  14. Believe someone has also mentioned that Rewind with Tom Herman was cancelled tonight. Add that to the data points.
  15. First of all, I resent this statement. Second, the flight tracking is an entertaining and harmless process that shouldn't be likened to some dildo holding themselves out to be an insider. Me and others who were tracking last week were clear about the fact that we're dildos, amateur dildos with a computer and no sources. And everyone knows that and can read what they want into flight reports given the surrounding information. And frankly, I at least remain convinced that the Kendra Scott plane (and potentially others discussed) were in some way involved with the Urban courting. The only thing Urban not coming would prove as wrong without a shadow of a doubt is RGL, Squid, Ceddby and all of the other fake insiders.
  16. Bama had some droughts, but they didn't disappear.
  17. Put me firmly in the contingent of tinfoil hat wearing eternal optimists for the time being, if for no reason other than it's way more cheeky and fun than wielding a pitchfork and discussing Jeff fucking Traylor with the Occam's razor crowd. Would rather discuss/consider the possibility of hitting the 5%-odds jackpot than the 95% pit of despair.
  18. Just some fun notes/facts to keep us marching on the road to 500. The Kendra Scott plane took off from Lajitas towards Austin earlier and not long into the flight was "diverted" and went right back to Lajitas. Starting in the '80s, the the purported mayor of Lajitas was Clay Henry III, a beer-drinking goat that lived at the actual mayor's trading post and stables (and there were later two successor Clay Henrys).
  19. CeddyB of Twitter Trio fame is posting the same UF timeline and has firmly committed to the smoke screen / it's happening theory, for what that's worth (nothing). I know some surly user dug into RapGameLarry and had reason to believe he had potential for clout. Did anyone vet CeddyB or make any sort of connection? Not that it matters, it's just better than discussing gloom and doom and I'm simply curious.
  20. Petition for new surly motto: Unfounded hope, crude humor, baseless speculation and barbeque.
  21. That's my cue! Y'all ready to get this party started again?! In today's news, the Kendra Scott plane is back to being the flight of mild intrigue. After it's flight from Sarasota, FL to Austin on Thursday, it sat until this afternoon. It's inaugural flight of the day out of Austin has it in route to Lajitas, TX which is located in BFE and not far from Big Bend National Park. The plane is set to return to Austin later this afternoon. Besides tumbleweeds and meth, from what I can surmise the most notable thing about the place is that it is home to Lajitas Golf Resort & Spa, which is owned by Kelcy Warren, renowned Dallas-based billionaire, UT Arlington alumnus and member of the UT System Board of Regents.
