  1. his cover of yer so bad was actually...not bad.
  2. it's available on twitch if you missed it. watched it yesterday while doing other stuff...the dhani harrison cover was my favorite, chris stapleton was pretty good too. margo price took a big shit on crawling back to you. not familiar with her work, but that shit was terrible. spoon cover of breakdown was very solid too.
  3. i also think warpaint is better than 3 snakes. saw them at austin music hall on the warpaint tour, they played a lot of the album that night and it was good.
  4. also had no idea that rod stewart covered leave virginia alone before TP ever released it.
  5. just starting to dig into this stuff. interesting that "have love will travel" eventually showed up as an entirely different song with the same chorus on Last DJ.
  6. haven't had much luck finding anything good this year. pj record is indeed the best in a decade but that's a very low bar to clear. enjoying the new deftones that came out last week and need to listen to the new flaming lips. nude party and frankie and the witch fingers both have albums coming out this month.
  7. that's the impression that i get
  8. Breakdown Crawling Back to You Learning to Fly Think those are my top 3, impossible after that.
  9. camped at inks lake recently and they're definitely limiting capacity on the camping. there only appeared to be 1 loop open in the tent camping area, lots of empty sites with a reserved sign but nobody there all weekend. they also only had half of the restrooms open on any given day.
  10. had never listened to hole-live through this...gave it a listen the other day based on this thread. y'all are either nuts or too tied up in nostalgia. there are decent songs but it was a struggle making it all the way through the album.
  11. it's actually surprisingly difficult to come up with an example of an artist who got sober and started writing better songs.
  12. it comes with a handmade beaded necklace, how could i pass that up?
  13. yeah i've already pre-ordered. i got wildflowers on vinyl with the box set that came out a few years ago, but excited about all the unreleased stuff. the you don't know how it feels demo is really interesting, with some lyrics from crawling back to you thrown in there.
  14. I've found that most people have strong preconceived notions about the grateful dead and their music. If you play a song and don't tell them who it is, they're surprised to learn that it's the GD. The fan base is so cult like and off putting that most people dismiss the music before they've ever heard a note. I don't blame them. Phish has the same problem except they're legitimately a terrible band, deserving of the bad rap they receive.
  15. in the case of george strait, sitting is appropriate. however i always get a kick out of the uptight assholes who complain about the people standing up and dancing in front of them. they paid for a seat just like everyone else, they can enjoy the concert however they see fit. sitting through a rock show is bullshit.
  16. stevie wonder at acl festival. guy next to me starts talking to me unsolicited and won't shut up. practically begs for a hit off the joint, finally give him one and he immediately pukes on my backpack.
  17. david lee roth is the most annoying front man of all time.
  18. san tropez is not filler...seamus is but i love it still. echoes is my favorite pf album.

    Sitting in

i believe it was 2006 when i saw the black crowes and drive by truckers at the backyard. marc ford sat in with the drive by truckers for decoration day...i remember being blown away by him and isbell trading solos. swear i used to have a recording of that somewhere...
  21. been drinking a lot more real ale lately. their beer is good and it's <$10 a 6 pack. have done curbside at their brewery a few times this summer going to/from state parks, they have a lot more variety than they used to. can't get behind this >$15 4 pack trend that's been happening.
  22. i had never considered how old he was when he died...was a little shocked that he was only 35. always assumed he was in his mid 40's.
