There are really 2 things here and they are different.
Yes, there is the whole situation of the back ground of Saudi Arabia and how taking their money is White Washing their image by buying golf, buying cars, buying soccer teams. And yes in this case there is the whole moral argument of taking the money of that country. That is one whole debate and one that I absolutely would not take their money on. It's a whole moral issue and to me, it's not much of an issue to pick the right side vs the wrong side.
But there is a separate issue here too - specifically to the issue of the hypocrisy of these comedians, who railed on fans for them taking umbrage with their jokes - I am going with Chapelle because he is the most visible. He told some trans jokes that people didn't like and called him on it. And when he was called on it he doubled down and called out that people were trying to silence him and his comedy and that he would not be silenced. These are people that pay money to see him, not a lot but a few bucks. Now all of a sudden he is being offered a lot of money, WITH STIPULATIONS, to tell jokes he is more than willing to get gagged.
A. that's bullshit because of the hypocrisy.
B. What he is telling ME - Joe Q public is that my voice doesn't matter because I don't have enough money to matter for him - ALSO BULLSHIT.
And he's just one of all these guys.
And in both cases - Fuck these guys.
