  1. I’m starting to see this with frequency this morning while trying to load the site
  2. Bond villain? More like Dr. Evil. Dude isn't smart enough to be a Bond villain.
  3. this one takes the cake over in Daily Texan
  4. He doesn't have to tell them to hassle the guy. His following will do it just because, for the lulz. And Portnoy can claim "I didn't do shit" because he didn't literally say something. He knows what will happen when he posts this. Dude has gotten death threats: https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/somerville-pizza-shop-owner-says-hes-received-death-threats-over-feud-with-barstools-dave-portnoy/3127615/
  5. It was topic de jour this morning for Kara Swisher and her guest Naomi Klein (not to be confused with Naomi Wolf) today - they talked about this is what people have done through history, a group of people take power and then they claim to be the victims, blaming some other group.
  6. Actually this guy has been sold out a lot the last few because of this. https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/dragon-pizza-barstool-portnoy-feud-update/3129206/ I'm thinking about ordering from this place just to try it out, because fuck Portnoy.
  7. I will say this to anyone that wants to get Diller's views on the strike, you can basically listen from 41:00 - 58:00, but the whole podcast is really good. Just an FYI for those that don't know who Diller is - he's worked for ABC, 20th Century Fox (where he helped found the Fox Network) and Paramount. He has really strong insight into the industry and knows it well.
  8. The scale at which AI can copy things is far beyond anything a human can do. A person can do a one off here and there, people use AI tools to generated original art, print, jokes, etc "in the style of X" in massive troves. It is vastly different things. Why would an industry agree not to use technology? Because that's what you collectively bargain. Part of adapting is regulating properly, there are very good reasons to do it - especially in creative industries. This is funny, but makes a point: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwoIG_ys-Sa/ A week ago Barry Diller chatted with Kara Swisher and went into a lot of this as well, his AI stuff is a bit weird, but hits some of the right notes. I think he also has some really great points about how Netflix played damn good long game in blowing up the industry and got everyone else to jump in only to lose money. Solid interview.
  9. Vox media decided to go in on Musk this go around on their Podcast Land of the Giants. It's a podcast that focuses on how Big Tech affects our lives and the world. Past targets have been Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook. This season they are doing one specifically on Tesla, though as Episode 2 notes, Tesla is the Elon Musk Company, focusing on how Elon DIDN'T found Tesla, how he ousted the founders using friends and family, and how he borrowed half a billion from the government to keep Tesla alive. I'm only 2 episodes in, but it's really good. Trailer: https://podcasts.voxmedia.com/show/land-of-the-giants
  10. Returned to practice last week. Timetable to being back in games is still TBD. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/wrexham-paul-mullin-returns-to-training-manager-phil-parkinson/blt4edb3d45b2139166
  11. GoFundMe to help the employees buy the brewery? GoFundMe to help the employees buy the brewery. https://www.gofundme.com/f/rbx7b-help-workers-save-anchor-brewing https://sfist.com/2023/09/05/anchor-brewing-employees-launch-gofundme-to-buy-brewery-campaign-makes-half-of-its-goal-in-two-days/

  13. Wrexhan won their second game of the season over the weekend, bringing them to 2-3-1 and 9 points. They sit in 13th place, though closer to 1st place (-4 pts) than last (+7) or relegation (+6). Interestingly enough, first place? Notts County 4-1-1.
  14. We are now 3 matches into this. They have only moved up to 14th place (big gap to 13th place), but are now only 8 points off the final playoff spot. They have taken 7 of 9 points thus far.

    USMNT 2023

it took me a while to find it because the clip was from a deleted tweet with the caption "Is Aaron Long foreal right now?" So I had to find a video of the game and locate the clip. This is cued up, Long was #5 in this game. What boggles my mind about this game - every clip I found of Long passing the ball - he's generally passing it back or sideways and usually to Ream. This is one of his few forward passes I spotted. It's a mess.

You scared the crap out of me. I had to double check to make sure he wasn’t on there. I watched that video - the result was worse than his lowlight against Saudi Arabia, but the the SA “pass” was far worse technically.
  17. I gotta admit Postecoglou seems like a real good dude. I hope we do make this all work out. Some idiot over in the Ted Lass thread ranted how dumb and unrealistic the "delete your old photos" scene was. But ...
  18. But all of the things you bring up are all Levy issues: The 18 months between Moura in Jan of 2018 and 2019's summer signings of Clarke/Ndombele/Lo Celso significantly set the club back Levy got wide-eyed at Mourinho being available and brought him in thinking it was a quick fix and that he could win with the current squad Conte checked out less than a year after getting hired These were all brought on because Levy didn't spend money. Why didn't we sign anyone for 18 months? Levy. Why did we bring in Mou looking for a quick fix with the same team (IE not spending money)? Levy. Why did Conte check out? Because Levy wouldn't spend money to bring in his guys (hence his rant about Spursiness). Hell, even the NES hire was ultimately made because he went through a ton of guys telling them he wouldn't spend a ton of money. I just see the root of the issue being Levy not spending money, and when that's your problem, this is the churn you get.
  19. Uh ManU you just might want to cover that Rice kid. And you might want to not let Jesus go one on one with your keeper.
  20. Let’s see what they say at the half.
