  1. You hear this kind of stuff a lot from coaches on this staff. Proud of the work we put in. Proud of the effort. It seems like there's no stopping to question if we're working smart vs hard, like the effort justifies the job regardless of outcome. "We put a lot of work into making a great game plan this week"... Well, we scored 3 points when it really mattered, so all of that work was wasted and the game plan wasn't actually that great. Maybe next time do something different, instead of working harder on more of the same.
  2. Holy moly. Two reactions to that thread: 1) As a Texas fan, I've only ever participated in hornfans, shaggy, then surly. I've rarely waded into the waters of sites like 247, and after that experience, won't again. Yikes. 2) The only really substantive thing contained in those 14 pages is that some staff changes have already been made, Huff and Carrington are hitting the trail, Tom is staying and Orlando is most likely retained. I really hope that last point on #2 is wrong. We've seen this over and over during our 10 year stretch of futility where a coordinator clearly needs to go, but we decide to give them one more off-season to do their job well. It never ends well, and this won't either if we go that route. When everyone on Twitter knows we're giving free plays to Baylor with our alignment and Todd can't figure it out, he's not the guy.
  3. He was a troll. Never could figure out exactly what flavor of troll, but an obvious one.
  4. Did anyone ask him if he ever plays Herman at "running a P5 football program?". How is he at that?
  5. I don't think he did, but it hasn't escaped me that his position group is rumored to be the one with the most discontent among current players. Wouldn't be shocking if that was a part of it.
  6. Because I'm a big fan of leading indicators, my stats would have to do with the number of blitzes we ran that didn't get home, or the number of 3rd/4th down conversions we gave up to wide open receivers as a result of those blitzes, or the number of times we were guaranteed to fail on a run play by pre snap alignment, or dear Lord the number of times we failed to set any kind of an edge...over and over and over, or the number of times we ran Sam into the back of our line on fourth and short, or the number of times we called a failed play immediately over again to see if we can "impose our will" when we failed to the first time. Yeah, some version of those stats would do it.
  7. "Give me an army of West Point graduates and I'll win a battle. Give me a handful of Jimbo Fishers and I'll win a war! - Patton" - Some aggy
  8. I feel like I know what this is setting up for, and it's going to do me in as a fan for a few years. After ten years of this shit, I just can't care enough to invest time anymore if we make the decisions I think we'll make. Herman will shuffle the chairs. We'll lose some recruits and current players in the process. Next year won't be worse than this year, but it will be the same or marginally better. The excuse will be that we just replaced all of the assistants and had some attrition and we need more time to adjust. So we'll give one more year, because sugar bowl. The next year we won't have Sam and we'll really crater. Recruiting will have fallen off a cliff as recruits see they're talking to a dead coach walking. At this point we'll finally pull the plug, with the team and recruiting in shambles, because we opted for "stability." I say all of this 100% not trying to be overdramatic, but because it's what I'm genuinely concerned will happen. It's pretty damn close to what we did with Mack. Feels like we're ready to start our ten year journey all over again and we've learned nothing from the first time around. Mack deserved to go the year after bama just like Tom deserves to go a year after Georgia. But we won't, because stability and stuff.
  9. They didn't know much on Baylor. I think even Vegas is having trouble understanding how shitty and checked out we are.
  10. This guy is both claiming something I'd like to be true AND has 26 posts here to establish his credibility. I'm inclined to believe him.
  11. So it's the players fault we're not executing the awesome game plans our coaches are coming up with. And it's also the players fault that we have discord bc the bottom 10% aren't being pulled up by the top 10%. Can't imagine why the players don't love this guy.
  12. "Tom, Mack Brown won a national championship at Texas and brought us to another. He was fired after a three year stretch in which he had a record comparable to the record you've posted at Texas. Tell us why you deserve more time to fix the problems in your program than a coach who had already taken the program to two title games was given?"
  13. I have a hard time laughing at aggy when we are such a dumpster fire, but given how they love to hate on the lowly "bdf" that is really, really fucking funny.
  14. Show them tape of Strong's and Herman's last years. Tell them: you can lose in year three, but don't have it be the result of stubbornness or clear coaching incompetence. If it's one of those two things, and you're losing in year three, yes you will be fired. Your paycheck is big enough for it not to be one of those two things causing you to lose in year three.
  15. Oline development is like so many other things on our team this year. It feels like somewhere around ou, the staff just took a vacation. Remember the oline holding up shockingly well against lsu? I remember that, and receivers running free in that game. Jake Smith looked like a freshman stud. Yeah, he's struggled with fumbles, but he has also disappeared. Every positive thing about our team from the first few games, including oline improvement, has just disappeared. I don't know if that's weaknesses or tendencies captured on film that opposing coordinators are capitalizing on, or what, but I've never seen a regression quite like it. If you told me the staff stopped coaching the week before ou and hasn't coached a single player since, I would have a hard time believing the outcome would be worse than what we're seeing on the field.
  16. When your team of four And five stars lose to three stars It's coaching dumb fuck
  17. "Not my favorite night at the plays" - Mrs. Lincoln
  18. Anyone who was against this before, but isn't for it after yesterday, simply doesn't care if our program burns to the ground or not. I'm in to donate if we do this. Just tell me how and where to send.
