  1. One of the anchors on Fox7 does this crap and drives me bonkers. Along with "I axed them..."
  2. Did they hire the Olan Mills photographer down there at the ol' county lockup?! The angling here is a first.
  3. Prices went up when the Lamberts / Perlas group bought them. They also revamped the menu and changed up their food, somewhat for the better.
  4. And bitching about dumb city council decisions. And the DA.
  5. I do recall for a few seasons they stayed open year round. Most the places I know on Travis stay open year round these days, as I would venture most their business is by land. Ski Shores is too damn hard to get to by land, which makes sense why they shutter.
  6. Ski Shores Temporarily closed, once again. What was the name of the other place that was on Lake Austin on the South Shore, had a gas station and bar / grill? Got a case of CRS today...
  7. Sandusky prefers the youth in Asia approach. *ducks

  9. 2 criminal trespasses last year. Felony Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant in 2019, along with an evading arrest. Served a jail sentence for "Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Feet." First I've heard of that one...
  10. Not one comment with "surprised it wasn't a Mustang" on the thread?!
  11. Ask your husband, he should know.
  12. Every perk of "New Austin" is nothing unique to Austin. Breweries, wineries, live music, decent restaurants, all these things are popping up in almost every town with a decent sized population. Breweries are sprouting up left and right, and are currently experience attrition due to oversaturation and people switching from beer to other alternatives or not drinking. Seems like local restaurants are overtaking the chains left and right, too. As good as we are locally, we still don't have a ton of great James Beard winners, nor do we boast a single Michelin star in the city. I would say your experience is more of a post-covid culture shift versus an Austin awakening.
  13. This seems to be a rare occasion where the person included SOME context. But North I-35 and 290 is MUCH easier to understand. The fun is when they start throwing in the direction of traffic AND section of 35: Southbound North I-35.
  14. I need to check the anode rods for sure. And considering switching the drain valves to a larger ball valve next go-round to help get all the sediment out during the draining process. Tanks are old, through, were in the house when we bought it, and likely around 7-10 years old now. Living on borrowed time. /hijack
  15. I'm just going to throw this out there, but you could search for homesteads in the 78701 zipcode vs non-homesteads in the same area. I'd bet you there's not a ton of HS exemptions.
  16. Don't disagree. And on top of that, they have changed the dimentions of the larger water heaters, so you can't put a 55 gallon tank in the attic since it's squattier than it used to be. And don't forget, the sediment in the tank that can't be removed easily adds another 50+ lbs of crap you have to haul down from the attic. Unfortunately in our case, they put them up there because there was no utility closet in the house, and the garage wasn't an option.
  17. And the good french fries, not the new crap ones.
  18. When people on the radio or TV state "there's an accident at I-35 and 290" but don't clarify which part of town they're referring to. The 290 and 35 intersection NORTH of the river, or the one SOUTH?
  19. You're wrong on this one. We have attic water heaters, and they still need the water flowing through the cold side to prevent them from freezing up, too. I try to run both if possible, but at least one faucet on either side of the house is running the hot side. Granted, we're in central Texas, so our building codes don't require the same amount of forethought in plumbing they use up north (WH in the basement, insulating the supply and feed lines, etc.)
  20. Here I figured on of your first boats was a life raft on the Titanic...
  21. I was waiting for the boom at the end. If I'm that guy, I'm parking my truck a mile away before I try to do anything.

  23. *suspended city manager I'm amazed they leaked that video, to be honest. Seems like he's going to get canned, and the leaker might be hitting the unemployment line with him.
