I think about this quote that's attributed to James Baldwin all the time lately: “We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.”
Charlie Kirk and Matt Walsh represent the thinking of the people who have deployed United States Marines and National Guard to Los Angeles. It's folly to think there's some middle ground with someone that doesn't see everyone as equally human and deserving of the same rights. Charlie Kirk, Matt Walsh, Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump don't see a Somali or Afghani immigrant, a Nigerian, a Black American, or a Mexican American as fully human. They've shown over and over that they want not only want to close the border to illegal immigration but legal as well. To them, Third World is a racial distinction. If anyone doubts this, just remember that they've put white South Africans at the front of the line and revoked legal status to Venezuelans, Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans, so far. Without anyone even noticing or commenting, they've been revoking Dreamers and from almost day one been challenging birthright citizenship. It's all rooted in racism. When Charlie Kirk says Third World, he means non-white. They're being open about it now and we hardly even notice. They think of people as categories rather than individuals. There's no compromise with that.
