  1. It's been said before but this is EXACTLY how you know we really weren't cheating when so many others (read: A&M, OU, Bama, UGA, LSU, etc.) were screaming "EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT TOO" as loud as they could at anyone who'd listen. Now that it's actually legal to pay these kids, our recruiting is simply out of hand - and it's still gathering steam. Like top 3-5 classes EVERY FUCKING YEAR type of steam. Our recruiting would have been like this each and every year since the mid-70s if "eVeRyOnE eLsE wAs DoInG iT tOo!!" The gap between the haves and have nots is only going to get bigger and bigger and bigger and it's good to be the biggest "have" around. Get all the ins you can with that uncle everyone has, bitches. It don't make a shit. Not anymore tldr: prepare you anus, rest of cfb
  2. If Klein's offense doesn't change significantly (and why would he do that? It's worked for him well so far), Weigman might not make it through Notre Dame. If I was a betting man, I'd put down a pretty decent sum that the third QB power call knocks him out for a substantial amount of time.
  3. With his speed, ability, and general insane athleticism, Mal Williams COULD have been in that group (maybe even all pro) if he'd played LB or SS to compensate for his alligator arms. What a waste of talent by a player insisting on a position he was jut not meant for. Far, far too many players in recent UT history that probably cost us wins by insisting on the wrong position. Probably Brennan Eagles too. Tyler freaking Owens also comes to mind. BIG TIME. Potentially awesome downhill, see ball, hit ball LB. NOT a safety. Thank god Overshown got the message. There are plenty others but I'm depressed enough already.
  4. Watched Stewart's HUDL and... DAMN. Did anyone else ever wonder what a hybrid or Jaden Blue and Jonathan Brooks might look like? My only question: how are his hands? We've been REALLY lucky to have a bunch of HBs under Sark that catch like WRs (Bijan, Blue, Keilan, Baxter, Red (who actually was a receiver) and allegedly Gibson and Clark). As much as we seem to use passes to the HB to GREAT effect, I would think that it would almost be a necessity for us to recruit to players with fantastic hands for the position. I really don't see much of that in Stewart's film outside two relatively easy catches (one of which was admittedly on a deep throw). That said, far be it from me to complain about taking a RB with the ability to run tough and with elite patience, vision, and speed. So by all means, sign him up. He looks like a very clear take to me.
  5. Dammit. I knew I should have gone with mantle. Stupid liberal arts degree
  6. More than a few of you should take copious notes on this response. This is correct way to react when you're clearly wrong or have been called out because of a bad take. I know that not a single one of you will pay any attention but maybe at least consider responding this next time instead of digging even deeper into whatever horrible hill you're dying on over and over again. I'm just fucking with you. Dig until you hit the earth's crust on whatever horrible hot take you've come up with this time. For example, I seem to recall a few "Keontay Ingram reminds me of Jamaal and Kelvontay Dixon looks like Ramonce" posts a few years back. Incredible stuff, really. Then, after you've been thoroughly chewed up, ridiculed, abused, and spit back out, keep heading further down through the magma. It's almost always much more entertaining that way Seriously though, big props to Harvdog for manning up on this one.
  7. Outstanding. No disrespect to McKinley or Reliford but I think this kid might be the best DL in Louisiana. He looks like he's got a Poona Ford type motor with a lot more size and the same kind of power to back it up. I'm certainly no scout and am wrong a LOT so I'm not going to be like 'wAtCh ThE tApE" or anything like that. I just think he looks like the real deal.
  8. Only A&M could find Tom Herman and Charlie Strong genetically spliced into one guy and then hire him to coach their football team. I can't wait to see their version of "the Five Rules" and pee charts.
  9. There is no bottom floor in hell. People will just invent new and somehow worse ways to derail these threads.
  10. So much this. Even THIS didn't shut them them fuck up for more than 12 seconds. They didn't even have the good sense to keep their mouths shut during their walk of shame out of the stadium that night. We could run off (yet) a(nother) 10+ win streak and it wouldn't keep them quiet for more than 2 seconds. There's only one thing to do: continue our VERY LONG historical trend of whipping their asses in every circumstance imaginable and just keep laughing our asses off at their terrible excuses.
  11. I caught that too and was curious about Bobby saying "[a]ctually, I do have an inkling about it, I just don't agree with their reasoning." Now I'm curious about why the national guys dinged him. Doesn't seem like it's size - 5'11" and 195 is great for an 18 year-old tailback. Is it his level of competition? Long speed, maybe (I don't recall anything about how fast he is - will re-watch his HUDL shortly but it sounds like he has plenty of speed)? Injury concerns? That absolutely idiotic "Charlie Strong and Tom Herman didn't really develop guys well so we think Sark won't either" stereotype (despite a LOT of evidence to the contrary) that's been mentioned here a lot? Anyway, any insight would be much appreciated
  12. Thanks SO MUCH for that fun little factoid. It really made my whole day. I don't know you at all but I hate you so fucking much right now
  13. And here's Bobby's first write up. I haven't had time to read it but wanted to pass it along: https://ontexasfootball.com/news/grading-the-class-using-the-pipeline-methodology-r161/
  14. Here's CJ Vogel's very brief take on the class: https://ontexasfootball.com/news/my-personal-rankings-of-the-2024-class-r160/ Not copy pasting because I'd like for OTF to get the clicks. But having Jerrick Gibson and Wardell Mack in Tier III seems CRAZY to me. So does having Melvin Hills (and I am admittedly SUPER high on this kid's game and motor and probably biased) and Jordan Washington in Tier IV seems too low to me too.
  15. I sincerely hope so. I definitely do not trust Harris and Jones to do the same caliber job as Glasscock...
  16. This is my concern as well. I'm not sure Harris, or any of them, really, are ready for the step up. Are Searels and Harris the most experienced? That seems less than ideal unless they're total prodigies and I haven't heard anything like that about either of them. I'm even more bearish on John Michael Jones. I don't quite know what to make of Kyndal Perry but the recruits seem to like her, I guess? I do like the Huppert hire from Oregon State. The Beavers seem like they're at leasy usually pretty good and to be consistently pretty good at Oregon State, you'd damn well better be fucking AWESOME at 1) getting good stuff from your analysts to take advantage of the other team's weak spots, 2) finding diamonds in the rough (like Silas Bolden, for example), and 3) developing your guys. Not sure how much, if any, Huppert will help with number 2 but I do know he was Director of Player development under Chris Petersen in 2020 which I like a LOT. Huppert also has experience as a DL coach, which I definitely like. Unfortunately, that experience came under Dan Hawkins, which I definitely do not like. Anyway, hopefully, we're not done and steal a couple guys from Bama and Michigan.
  17. Pffft... I done heard it was $10 million if'n it were a nickel. I got it straight from my big money Sip booster buddy so you KNOW it's the truth
  18. Sigh... I had such high hopes for him as our LT or at least RT of the future. Thank God for Banks, Jones, Williams, and hopefully Baker (among others)
  19. I was picking my daughter up from school the other day and "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead came on my iPhone shuffle over the stereo and she started singing along. I told her that I had no idea she even knew who Radiohead was, let alone liked them and she looked me square in the eyes and goes: "Oh yeah, I love the oldies." I wanted to cry
  20. I get it. I really do. Both players NEVER should have been close enough to a UT scholarship offer to even smell it. Not even in the darkest days of Mackovich, Charlie, and even Ed Price's tenures). But Shead in particular was well thought of at the time time and was said to Sherman's top ranked RB (which says a LOT more about Sherman than it does about Shead or even Mack). Pretty sure DCTF even did an article comparing to AD Peterson at one point (OOPS!). I seem to recall this is as an "I've got an extra spot. I'm going to use to take your top guy just because fuck you, that's why.'' And, as Satya pointed out, out Cole was worth each every penny of his scholarship money just to get Malcom Brown (who was also considered an "Aggie lock by Liucci and the TexAgs "brain" trust 😂). If I'm being totally honest, I might take 5 Tim Coles to get one Malcom Brown. He was that good.
  21. That would beautiful. Shades of Mack taking Traylon Sheed and Tim Cole, not because he especially wanted them. Mack just wanted to remind Sherman who drinks his milkshake
  22. Actually, after going through and re-reading some posts of the nameless users who agreed with me, my prior post is 100% wrong and this hire is going to be an unmitigated train wreck. Seriously though, despite my optimism, he's definitely a small name and unknown and I still would prefer Wright or even Okam (and Davis, of course). Someone else nailed it - I would prefer to not be miserable over one hire until the season starts. Will he work out? Maybe, maybe not. But I'm going to try to stay optimistic until shown otherwise even though I have ZERO idea how much he had to do with the Dolphins DL last year aside from 2 Miami fans saying that they like him. And, of course, we REALLY have no idea how he recruits??? He seems likable enough in the interviews I watched but, really, that doesn't REALLY mean all that much In any case, I'm still going to stand by my trust in the guy who handpicked and hired Choice, Jackson, Davis, Banks, Flood, etc. I just hope I'm not overlooking a blemish on his record like trying backdoor Mike Stoops past the UT fanbase and continuing to employ a couple of substandard DB coaches...
  23. I assume this is sarcasm on second review but I actually like this hire. I read that he was super involved in the Dolphins DL last yeah and the results look pretty damn good to me. Top 10 total defense in the NFL, 97 rushing yards per game for the 6th overall in the NFL, 3.8 ypc against them, and 51 total sacks. That looks like a pretty damn solid season to me (but I admittedly don't know shit about the NFL so if I'm wrong, please correct me if I'm off base). Remember what Bo Davis' resume looked like before Saban? I think it'll take recruits some time to get to know him but I think this has a chance to be an awesome hire
  24. I won't say he's good enough to "defy comparison" but I do think he's his own guy. I do see some of Jamaal in his jump cuts (the reason why Keith Jackson described JC as a "wisp of smoke" in the Rose Bowl, IRRC) and a little of his long speed. I also see some of Bush's short area quickness and shake. He looks better at running through arm tackles than I remember Bush though (I could be wrong - I'm going completely on memory here). But if the laser timed 4.43 and 10.8 as a freshman are accurate, then he probably really does have a very legit chance at being the #1 RB in class. As others have said, I just hope Aledo doesn't run him into the ground before he gets here like they did to poor Gray. I'm also curious about his receiving skills. One of the things Sark seems to like is having RBs with WR-type hands (Bijan, Blue, Baxter, Keilan - all the way back to Bush. Brooks has damn good hands too). Hopefully, this kid does too. Some of my favorite plays under Sark have been designed passes to the running back (and plays where the checkdown to the back worked out beautifully).
