  1. Oh he was doing it long before then. Dude's wife left him for a professional rodeo clown.
  2. This. Texas and Tech both made some really bad coaching decisions in the past 15 years. Texas had the talent to still have winning seasons, but the results were subpar for their expectations, resources, and the talent on hand. Tech was a combination of bad coaching and poor talent, and the results played out exactly as you would expect...losing seasons and some horrific blowout losses. In 2021, Tech fires their coach and Sonny Cumbie takes over as interim, getting them to and winning a bowl game. Then Joey takes the piece-meal team and gets 8 wins and a bowl victory last year with really not much of an upgrade in talent. Coaching matters. See: Jimbo Fisher @ A$M
  3. I don't think so. Title IX just says you have to have the same number of intercollegiate opportunities for women that you have for men. As long as they are still intercollegiate sports, conference affiliation doesn't matter.
  4. I know I'm beating a dead horse, and I've said this eleventy-two times. The only change we needed to stop the 4 hour games was to CHANGE THE DAMN INSTANT REPLAY RULES. College football's biggest waste of time is instant replay. Adopt the NFL replay rules verbatim and you fix everything.
  5. Guys...there is a "Tell me about Texas A&M" thread over there. I hate seeing this much maroon in the Texas Tech thread.
  6. I should also mention that one of Tech's starting DB's this year was UT's very own Tyler Owens who ended up transferring to Tech. He's the NE Patriots #1 target on their draft board for special teams specialist. But yeah, just another outlier. What is the magic number before we can say they are no longer outliers and you admit that the transfer portal has good players going to these "tier 2" schools from "tier 1" as well? Quick summary: 1. Tyree Wilson - transferred from A&M to Tech, drafted in 1st round. 2. Tyler Shough - transferred from Oregon to Tech, has a lot of NFL scout interest. 3. Tyler Owens - transferred to Tech from UT, top target for NE Patriots' special teams draft board. 4. New WR who transferred from Austin Peay - one of the fastest players on the field when they played Alabama last year, accumulating nearly 100 yds receiving against the Crimson Tide. 5. New DB from Fresno St. - tons of speed. 6. New Center from WKU - also has NFL potential. 7. New DE from Syracuse - being scouted by multiple NFL teams But yeah, the transfer portal is only going to help the SEC and BIG and it's going to hurt the rest of us. 🙄
  7. No one who was in the SWC can point fingers to anyone else who was in the SWC when it comes to cheating. Except maybe Rice.
  8. 2,3. Tomato, tomahto. I went to tech. Counting to 3 wasn’t required.
  9. This. Mitch's fallacy is he thinks the transfer portal only goes in one direction. Didn't TCU get two players from Alabama this past year? Tech's starting QB came from Oregon, and Tyree Wilson (#8 overall NFL pick this past Spring) transferred to Tech from A&M as a preferred walk-on. That's right. A scholarship player at an SEC school transferred to Tech as a walk-on his first semester, and ended up being a #1 draft pick.
  10. Um, got some bad news for you, Sparky.
  11. Fred Akers first year. Always felt bad for Coach Akers. A really good coach who got close, but just couldn't get his team the championship like his legendary predecessor did. He was the Danny White of UT football coaches.
  12. Burnt Orange Aggy.
  13. Normally, I detest the use of the phrase "full stop". But in this case...you are fucking-a-right.
  14. You guys are a breath away from chanting SEC SEC SEC aren't you? Sad. The last redeeming quality Texas fans had was making fun of that.
  15. 1. It's not weird. It's all about the $$$$. They want to try and get two teams into the CFP, and multiple teams into the bigger bowls, so they only schedule 8 conference games to inflate their win totals. It's the same reason they will want to push for fewer or no auto bids to non-SEC/BIG conferences. It's all about the almighty dollar. 2. Coach McGuire said something in his press conference yesterday about the college football being the only sport without any warmup games. NFL has preseason, high schools have scrimmages, etc. Maybe we pay the FCS schools to scrimmage the FBS schools.
  16. Same with me for Tech. We have no business playing Tarleton St. this year, or ACU or SHSU* or SFA in previous years. *SHSU does have a national championship at least. But still, P5 should not be playing FCS period.
  17. Your suggestion is lucid, intelligent, and well-thought out. BIG & SEC: Overruled.
  18. Granted it's not OU easy, but still... 2023 Georgia football schedule Sept. 2 UT MARTIN Sept. 9 BALL STATE Sept. 16 SOUTH CAROLINA Sept. 23 UAB Sept. 30 at Auburn Oct. 7 KENTUCKY Oct. 14 at Vanderbilt Oct. 21 Open Date Oct. 28 vs. Florida (Jacksonville) Nov. 4 MISSOURI Nov. 11 OLE MISS Nov. 18 at Tennessee Nov. 25 at Georgia Tech
  19. Bullshit. That may be one of the dumbest takes on here, and that is saying something. SEC and BIG are top heavy, and deciding on just 8 conference games and having the possibility of not even playing the best in the conference for YEARS proves this statement false. Maybe your point would be more valid if they were forced to play the same amount of conference games the Big 12 is playing, and not be allowed to schedule the November cupcake game to rest and heal their starters.
  20. Ok, now do 2023 Georgia schedule.
  21. One of my friends on our intramural flag football team that freshman year was from somewhere around Kilgore. Had to go up against Bam in a high school football game. The guy is like 5'11''-6'0'', maybe 185-195 lbs playing DE in high school. Said when he went to tackle Bam, it was like a freight train had ran over him at full speed. Bam was bigger than any other player on the field except for maybe 1 or 2 OL, and he's just a man amongst boys destroying anyone who got in his way.
  22. Reminds me of a little yappy lap dog trying to pick a fight with my 110 lb. shepherd mix.
