  1. Love this because someone designed a concept vehicle and didn't wimp out (like they always do) and end up with something boring. Plus, steer-by-wire is awesome. My only complaint is the name and the logo, haha.
  2. Sorry to derail this conversation. Let’s get it back on subject: did you enjoy, “The Last of Us.”
  3. I recently visited a mushroom farm (really just a warehouse) and was amazed how crazy mushrooms truly are. They grow in so many wild shapes and sizes. They gave me a mushroom block to grow (which is a block of soil in a bag about 12” x 12” x 20”) and it was almost frightening how quickly it grew, breaking through the bag and more than doubling its size in less than a week. I was very impressed with the whole thing but I still think they kinda suck.
  4. Finally. Someone had the courage to talk about how awful beets are. I hated them as a kid when my poor, unsophisticated mother served them out of a can. And I hate them just as much today in all of those awful, trendy, gourmet dishes. It’s like eating dirt. Beets just suck. Mushrooms, too.
  5. They should definitely forfeit their game vs Westlake.
  6. Advertising the party on social media is actually a really good idea. It usually attracts the best sort of people. Got kicked out of the party so they fired shots into the house. That's a pretty normal reaction.
  7. I don’t and will never understand the awNFL.
  8. Good point, although now they profess to hate the SEC and are now whining about moving to move to the Big 10. I will address.
  9. That's the beauty of ai's image generation software. The mystery of what it decides to offer up is always surprising and a little strange.
  10. I asked Ai to create a statue dedicated to an Aggie male cheerleader in College Station. I think it did a pretty great job, especially with the beautiful scenery. And yes I added the Gig 'em logo.
  11. Here is a fun website/newsletter that takes a critical look at Web 3/crypto world. Molly White is a very smart tech worker who shares the stories you might not get in the mainstream market. Her coverage of the Sam Bankman Fried trial on Youtube is fantastic. https://www.web3isgoinggreat.com/
  12. I had to learn this lesson the hard way. Glad we got out in time to still make it profitable, but def dodged a bullet.
  13. Thank you, @Vertigo, for reminding us to never forget the sacrifices of the Aggies who fought for our freedoms. Let the glory of how they bravely defended Kyle Field from the intruders from SMU endure forever in this heroic memorial!
  14. Agreed. I have had both great and dodgy AirBnB experiences. The novelty has worn off for us and probably a large segment of the population. We have migrated back to hotels. I wish I had entered the STR purchasing market sooner but glad we did it. I hated selling the property but def dodged a financial bullet.

  16. Nothing is a sure sign of oncoming disaster than overly-effusive media and a giant new contract for your coach.
  17. We sold to other investors and we don't think their plan made any sense. They are a husband and wife in NYC and want to do remote, short-term rentals in Austin. Our little complex used to be completely filled w rentals. Now the parking lot is empty, so the market has def. dwindled. Also, even though we had outfitted the place with really nice, brand-new stuff, they only wanted to retain the bed and sleeper-sofa, so we took everything out, which took the property off the market, which meant they had to cancel the last few reservations we had for COTA and ACL weekends. So they lost the money from those rentals and the scheduled renters were FURIOUS with us. We explained that we didn't own the property anymore! At least the poor renters didn't lose any money but they had to find new places. We felt bad about it but we were so glad to get out of the market and still stay ahead. Our little one-bedroom condo was awesome, but it couldn't compete w the explosion of three bedroom homes on the market in that neighborhood with a pool. Guessing those are homes people pulled off the sales market. However, I do have friends from Austin who are doing great at it. They have a beautiful, five-bedroom house with a great pool outside the city limits, and it's always rented out to weekend engagement parties, etc. Now they live in NYC, so it can be done.
  18. I agree with you. The work that it outputs is not groundbreaking. What is groundbreaking is the amount of tasks we can get done while still maintaining high standards.
  19. We love ChatGPT and use it in a myriad of ways every day. Research, sales outreach, articles, and of course, social. Yes, you have to remove the cornball crap it adds to everything, but people also write lots of cornball crap that we have to remove. For a small, a time-stressed team like ours, it’s a game changer. We make interns/new sales staff use it or we assume they are wasting their time.
  20. So my business partner and I sold our short term rental property in Austin. We bought it in 2021. Did awesome for the first year and half, then rentals fell way down. Place had a perfect location just off of the best part of South Congress. We would be booked by remote workers for a month at a time. Then in 2023, whammo, nada. We had exemplary ratings (we included local foods for free and a restaurant gift card cause we’re awesome) but the market changed and after appearing on page 1 of a search for a South Congress location, we fell to page 7, as the market flooded with new properties. We sold at a profit (thank heavens) but we were starting to look at a serious loss as rentals had dwindled to key Austin weekends. Anyone else experience the same? Was it due to people pulling their properties off the sales market and converting them to STRs? Curious to hear your views.
