  2. I’ve always been a little claustrophobic, but have managed it well until the last year. Flew all over the world, every kind of airplane, no problem. Last year I had my first debilitating claustrophobia attack on an airplane. Since then I’ve had 3 more, plus one on a ski lift over Christmas. It has gotten significantly worse and continues to worsen. I started exposure/cognitive behavioral therapy last week so I can learn to live normally again. Apparently a lot of that is going to be putting myself in situations that trigger it. That does not sound fun, but it has to be done. The video/discussion above is horrifying to me. But maybe in a year or so I will be able to watch it without recoiling.
  3. Well, 8 is about to tell 6 what’s what. 7 is the last out of the gate but os probably going to clean up.
  4. Strange that you’re carrying TAMU’s water for them on maybe the most easily-dispelled excuses that they have for their lack of competitiveness. Next, defend their stolen valor in claiming Horace Carswell as one of their MOH awardees despite the fact that he left TAMU after one year, and then went to, played football and lettered for, and graduated from TCU.

  6. I’m just pointing out that being small, all-male and an actual military academy, with their guys fighting and winning wars for all of us, did not stop Army or Navy. And it should not be used as an excuse for pathetic TAMU.
  7. Cool story bro. Now look up USNA and West Point’s success from the 1930s through the 1960s, when TAMU claims they couldn’t compete because they were small, all-male, and off fighting wars. I’ll wait.

    Getting old sucks

Make sure you do quite a bit of due diligence before letting anyone cut on your spine. This podcast scared the hell out of me: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dr-death/id1421573955 According to Wikipedia: 33 incidents of gross neurosurgical malpractice while working at hospitals in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, which maimed 31 patients and caused 2 deaths. He was accused of injuring 33 out of 38 patients in less than two years – a track record so unlikely that hospital administrators and district attorneys simply felt that it was too unbelievable to be true, allowing Duntsch to continue to practice before his license was revoked by the Texas Medical Board, and to avoid prosecution for years. In 2017, Duntsch was convicted of maiming one of his patients and sentenced to life imprisonment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Duntsch TLDR: Grossly unqualified spinal surgeon in Dallas butchered his patients because he quite literally had no idea what he was doing. Dallas hospitals allowed him to hop from hospital to hospital with no warning, and the Texas Medical Board did not act in anything like a timely manner to keep people from being maimed. In other words, there's nothing other than word of mouth by which patients can tell if their doc is competent.
  13. I'm in the process of installing dash cams on my truck and Mrs. NNM's car for this very reason.
  14. You were wearing red pajamas. The dude was hitting on you. He was asking if you were going his way.
  15. Sounds like Allsup's or Five Guys floors, perpetually.
  16. Maybe you CAN take it with you.
  17. Didn't know Mexico and Cuba had hockey teams.
  18. It’s one of my least favorite things to do. And I’ve negotiated multi-billion dollar deals on multiple continents. Those are easier than the nonsense of car buying. I think buying a car through Costco may be the way to go. It’s a no-negotiation deal, I think. Of course, all the stupid markups like the ridiculous warranties, undercarriage sealer, delivery fee, etc. probably still need to be declined at the dealer. Im interested if anyone’s had the experience of buying through Costco. The car industry doesn’t even advertise the price of the car anymore. It’s just assumed that people will be perpetually in debt, perpetually carrying a car note, so the only thing people are interested in is the monthly payment. That adds an extra layer of complexity for people that buy their cars in cash. You would think it would be easier, and you’d get a cash discount, but no. It makes it more complicated.

Pretty sure there's a thread for that in IPIHB

  21. False advertising. I ate a taco from a street vendor in León, Mexico in 1992. Two bites in I knew I was in trouble. Vomited shortly after. Had to take the 4th class buss to Juarez later that day. Constant diarrhea. Was sick for several weeks. Got reported to the health department. Shigella sucks.
  22. Posted this in the shart thread back in 2021. Definitely my moment in the sun ignominy.
