  3. Is your throat length for that rifle that much longer that the COL?
  4. Yeah a leatherman or a set of klien side cutters would have taken care of that one. +1 on the small bolt cutters for offshore. Seems kinda stupid carrying them but better safe than sorry.
  5. Please also include a printed screen shot of the most current pic in the assssssssssssss thread
  6. You have a big ass truck. Pretty easy throw a couple of kayaks in the back and get in just about any water anywhere. Surprised you haves bought any yet. You can put them in the back of that panther wagon too.
  7. Not gonna lie, would buy a Surly™ Mining Co Tshirt
  8. Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with 3M 5200? Was planning making a trip offshore with my son and his friend for the first time in a long while on Saturday and was doing so minor repairs Friday at the house. I had replaced a wash down hose fitting that was leaking as I was tightening the hose I noticed it was wiggling one off the bilge pump hoses and the end of the fitting. Reached up to touch it and the fitting broke off in my hand. That's not good. Checked the other thruhulls and one of the scuppers broke off too. Dammit, cancel that trip. Kinda pissed the trip was shut down but relieved it didn't happen 15 miles offshore. I was able to get some good stainless scupper replacements off of Amazon and made a trip down to the West Marine store in Kemah to get new hose and clamps. I got the bad fittings replaced and will put in new hose tonight. In case you are wondering, acetone will take black 5200 off of your hands and out of your hair.
  9. Seems to have left out one of the best performances ...
  10. Seems like we need to get that Spaceforce on one of Elon's rockets and go kick some Russian space ass!
  11. For messing around and hobby stuff, look at a dual voltage stick welder. You can checkout the a Hobart MVP 160 or a ESAB Rogue 180i at Northern Tool and I they have a Lincoln inverter unit there too. Both of these will run a 1/8” rod and can be run off of a 120 or 240V circuit. For ranch stuff you can run 3/32 rods with a small generator pretty easily for most remote repairs and you have 240v capability to run larger rods with higher duty cycles in the shop. Get a few pounds each of 3/32 & 1/8 6011, 6013, 7014 and 7018. Go by a steel yard (Steel Supply is who we use in Houston) and get some 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 drop of flat bar or sheet steel. Get your welder guy to show you some stuff and then practice running some beads like above and then move on to butt and fillet welds. Then find some shit that needs welded up and weld it. If you fuck up the weld, you can always grind it out and try again. Shits not hard, they teach it to 9th and 10 grade ag students. Or just buy an inverter Mig setup with an auto-set feature, some gas tanks and be running great beads in a couple of hours.
  12. Yeah that's a ton of pics. 6 years of summer camps when I was involved in scouts with my son and Lost Pines had the best food of any of them by far. Salad Bar, Potato Bar and Leftovers. Could definitely get your fill. Don't know how old your daughter is but if I didn't personally know adults on the trip I would have a problem with it if they didn't have a defined YPT type protocols.
  13. Best approach would be to head down to the Kemah area and catch yourself a seafood platter and a few cold beers. Maybe someplace where the bikinis are running.
  14. Probably dying/low battery in the fob. At least I hope, my 2yo Ram is starting to do the same thing about 1 out of 3 times. Just been too lazy to look it up or see how to replace fob battery
  15. BAtM toured recently with Tool. Had special instructions for the stage.
  16. No, specifically the bayraktars because of improved air defenses by the Russia
  17. I was getting some stuff out of our boat storage last week before we went camping over the weekend and a guy across the way had his storage open and was loading stuff in a Unimog with a built camper on the back. Just briefly got to look at it but was pretty cool. Older guy and said he traveled all over the US backcountry with it. I hope to catch him out there again some time at get a better tour.
  18. Jewelry counter: rings, gold necklaces, watches. They have enough $200-1K stuff to fill up a basket in 5 minutes. My wife does the Kohls cash and coupon thing and bought me a Garmin Instinct GPS watch at a really good price with it last fall.
  19. Longer video of the helicopter being shot down including a near miss.
  20. Y'all didn't have any fence posts where the grass around them needed killing?
  21. Don't really follow bitcoin or this thread and haven't read all the way back through it but has there been much discussion here regarding large bitcoin mines in/coming to Tx? I have a bunch of relatives in Navarro county and Riot Blockchain is planning on building at large bitcoin mine there. First phase will be 250MW of miners with expansion up to 1GW of miners. That's a fucking shitload of power consumption. Riot already has one of the largest mines in the US at the old Alcoa facility near Rockdale. Not really sure about how I feel about them. They are incredible power hogs and we are already dealing with a shitty power grid in Tx. Is the theory that the mines will use excess generated power which will allow more plants to stay on line to handle other demand surges? Supposedly the mines shut down when demand gets that high and re-sell their power allotment and make a profit there. Am I understanding all this correctly?
