  1. My first purchase on the truck is probably going to be a tonneau cover.  I've never had one so is there anything I should be looking out for/avoiding?  I do think I want a hard cover tri-fold.  Pros/cons?  Any preferred vendors?

  2. My USG has been shitting all over itself the past few years as well.  Oddly enough, a new power cord ended up fixing the problem...at least until it did it again and I needed another new power cord.

I like Ubiquiti Unifi for all the APs throughout the house, but I'm starting to think that managing the system is A. beyond my skillset and B. likely more money than I want to invest over the multiple years.  The problem is, I'm not sure what I would pivot too that is both consistent and can provide enough wifi coverage across my house/property.

  3. If by that you mean how much..?

MSRP was something like $78/79 and change.  I got them to $68 and change.

Side question -- I've got 2 young kids.  Obviously this baby isn't gonna stay cherry, but does anyone have a good recommendation for a back seat protector?  My daughter has a keen skill for kicking the shit out of the seats.  And the 2 year old boy I'm sure will soon have his first truck tantrum any day now...

  4. Taking delivery on a 23 F150 Platinum tomorrow.  Best I could do was 9% off list.  Had to add to the price: spray in bed liner, rolltop bed cover and ceramic window tint.
I just signed papers today on the same. 2023 F150 Platinum. Got almost 12% off MSRP and spray in liner for free. Caredge.com website came in clutch. Everyone seemed pissy, esp the finance guy so I feel pretty good about it. Did it all online and went in to sign papers. No trade in (their offer wasn't competitive enough)

  5. Currently negotiating for a 2023 F150 King Ranch.  My goal is to get close to 12% of MSRP and we're currently at around 10-11%.  What other things could I try to negotiate in the deal?  Spray in bed liner?  Not sure how much those typically run.  Anything else?

  6. My husband has really gotten into his Blackstone, now making dinner multiple nights a week. He loves to experiment and tweak recipes, so I thought I’d make or buy him a journal/cookbook to document his experiments.

Any recs? What would you want in something like this? I only cook from my laptop so I can’t really imagine writing notes on paper. I definitely want it to have tabs and pockets—what else?
I use a mix of pinned YouTube videos, saved links on my laptops, and a binder with printed recipes. It's pure chaos...my wife hates it

  7. I can't argue with this but I am continually very thankful to have an amazing butcher just a few blocks away.
edit - this is basically what we have. Made by Blanco, they call it a composite granite. The divider is 1.75" high, I'm certain you could carve a cabrito if so desired. Extremely easy to keep clean, doesn't scuff or scratch, rounded corners, and withstands hot pots. They have non-divided options too if that's your thing...we have one of the pantry sized sinks too. Our main sink is on a large island and open to the LR so we value zero clutter and a sink that doesn't announce itself.

This is the exact sink we're looking at buying, but maybe a different color. We have white granite with black/silver tones. Any feedback/ragrets on the sink?

Swapping out faucet too since we're back there, so doing some research on that now
  8. Finally going to finish getting this one the way I want it this weekend. Dropping off Saturday morning to get a bedliner sprayed-in and a Bakflip tonneau cover installed.
Curious what price you got quote for those
  9. I guess what I'm wondering is if any one of these brands tends to have more problems more so than others?  Contextually, I've heard the negative reviews on Ford with all their recalls.  Similar with the death wobble on GM trucks.  Is it all just the hum drum of folks pimping their own brand?

  10. Let me start with the statement that I really don't have any brand loyalty. I'm looking at getting a light duty truck with one of the higher trim levels around 2023 year (i.e. Ram Longhorn/Limited, F150 King Ranch, or GMC..whichever is on the higher end..Haven't done much research). What is the general Surly opinion on trucks from the leading brands? I'm mainly looking for reliability, comfort, and decent technology..in that order. Coming from a 2013 Tahoe.

My current lead option is a 23 Ram Longhorn Limited but, again, still doing some research and haven't driven anything yet

  11. Wife (no pics you pervy bastards) wants a new kitchen sink for Christmas and I'm happy to oblige.  Who would you normally hire to remove and replace a (likely) undermount kitchen sink?  I'm also looking to see if there's any room to expand the cutout (hence hiring it out).

Second question...where would you go to shop for the one bowl sinks?  Just your standard big box?

  12. Well our LG top load washer is currently on the outs after 9 or 10 years.  I don't plan on buying another LG/Samsung and it sounds like Speed Queen has fallen off a bit. Anyone bought one in the past few years and have reqs?  I'm really impartial between top and front load unless there's something I should consider other than the mold smell in the gasket.

  13. I'm starting a side gig involving the import of medical supplies (not Columbian marching powder...promise..) and eventual sale within the U.S.  The product is F.D.A. cleared and approved.  I have the purchase process and eventual sale within the U.S. figured out but am getting stuck at the Customs/import level.  Does anyone currently import good from overseas, understand the process to buy the bond, clear customs, etc and is willing to coach me through it?
