  1. Historically speaking I’d prefer we find some different options. I’m not yet ready to face either of those teams again…
  2. We were talking about this last night because only the top was lit! I recall the full tower being lit for conference championships, national championships, and football wins over aggy. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this.
  3. Back in the nineties we only said “Give em hell! Give em hell! OU Sucks!” at the OU game and in the 4th quarter of the game leading up to OU. I don’t recall people saying “poor Sooners” ever. For the aggy game we said “Give em hell! Give em hell! Aggies fuck sheep!” And at ALL other times sang “Give em hell! Give em hell! Make em eat shit!” Agree “poor Aggies” needs to come back. People seemed genuinely unaware of it last night. Not too different from when I sang “Houston has the Texans, the greatest football team; we take the ball from goal to goal like no one’s ever seen…” at their first ever game. People seem to forget things quickly.
  4. They reacted that way because I don’t think we were ever going to snap the ball on that play. The play call was to get Vanderbilt to jump offsides, which they did. If they didn’t, we were going to call timeout and attempt a field goal.
  5. No, the report will get released in about two weeks (or something like that)...
  6. That was just about the saddest TD celebration I’ve ever seen. It looked forced with just a few O linemen around him, and Arch looked disappointed he didn’t throw for it. I couldn’t see for sure on TV but I think the receivers just walked off the field.
  7. Progression by regression I guess. Better to have 4th and long so we can at least score 3.
  8. Wingo has one bad drop on the year. If you watch him he blocks his ass off, which is the most we can ask of him since the QB can’t seem to deliver him the ball and the short plays designed for him are blown up before he has a chance to do anything.
  9. The commentators during the K-State/Arizona game had a thing or two to say about Kevin Mar and his crew; and I loved every minute of it. On a call that clearly should have been overturned (and eventually was) they said “I’m not sure what’s taking so long with this review unless there’s something wrong with the equipment. It appears they marked the ball where (insert some players name here) fell, because the ball carrier got the first down by at least a yard. We all deserve these seven minutes back.” On another play a flag was thrown and the refs discussed it for like five minutes before picking it up. Commentator said something like the following: “not only are these guys really slow making calls; (Mar) is taking his time walking over to announce them.” If I could I would have given the commentators some rage +1 rep.
  10. We’ve gone through spurts of WRs who either couldn’t or wouldn’t block. It’s worth noting Wingo made a key block on Livingstone’s first TD; doubt he would have scored without it.
  11. It's particularly pathetic for Bama since they have so many legit championships. My favorite to bring up in coversation is the championship they claim from 1941. They got shutout by both Vanderbilt and Mississippi State, and finished #20 in the AP poll, but put it on the wall anyway!
  12. When people parrot the idea that Ukraine is to blame for this conflict, I like to point out how many Warsaw Pact countries have sought NATO membership (14 have joined and more would like to) vs NATO countries seeking to align with Russia (zero). Other than having to explain what the Warsaw Pact was, its a pretty effective way to make clear that Russia is an aggressor that constantly threatens its neighbors and offers little in return for "partnership". Ukraine is not alone, it simply wants what the other former 14 Warsaw Pact countries that joined NATO wanted: peace, independence, and partnership. I like to ask them, "Why do you think so many countries want to join NATO, but nobody wants to join Russia?"
  13. Tyson King said something similar way back in 1995. Doubt you were really looking for an answer, but since you asked… Anyway, your point still stands - it’s been a long time since we’ve had to endure comments like that, which is nice.
  14. I agree with most everything you wrote except the bolded parts. I think we do know what would have happened if everyone moved uphill an hour earlier. There's video of Mystic girls walking through shin deep water pretty close to Bubble Inn and Twins. Oddly, they are evacuating to another building that was located in the floodway (area even lower than the floodplain), which to me indicates there was a general lack of knowledge, poor planning, or poor communication about where to go in a flooding event. I get the reservations about assigning blame and can sympathize with the dilemma of sheltering in place vs evacuating; but its OK to evaluate an event and recognize mistakes were made while also applauding the efforts made to save lives. And to be clear I am not being critical of any campers or counselors for their decisions; I do think it's fair to be critical of a plan that clearly failed those girls - especially if the camp-designed, state-approved plan was for the girls to just ride out the flood in cabins that sit in the floodway and/or 100 year floodplain.
  15. I was thinking about this too. Either LCRA (or whoever makes these decisions) is completely incompetent, or there was concern for the safety of boaters on those lakes if they opened up the floodgates earlier because they had to know the water was coming. After seeing the footage of all the water flowing over Starke dam I feel like the only reason to not open them sooner was concern over the safety of the people celebrating the 4th on the lakes. If that wasn’t the case then someone should get fired.
