  1. I've thought about this more. As long as you didn't mind going slow or have to go too far, or didn't do it every weekend, you could do it. I think it would be a fair trade for all the great things about the 80 series. But again, I'm a Land Cruiser nut.
  2. this is the worst cheeseburger I have ever seen
  3. I've towed a Montauk with one on relatively rolling hills and it was "okay".
  4. Yes. It would change it from "that's not possible" to the original assessment of "that would be hard." Here's the reality: the FZJ80 has a 212 horsepower, in-line 6 with 4.5L displacement. It is geared very low, and its relatively large displacement and torque make it a very serviceable driving around vehicle (even on the highway) that really excels when it gets off the pavement, and then goes totally bananatown when put in low range. In fact, you would have a tough time finding a BETTER vehicle for towing something off road. But on the road, it just does not have the horsepower to tow something heavy. I've towed maybe 4500 pounds with one before, and uphills are a slog. It's a passenger vehicle. It's a high-level off-roading vehicle that was civilized just enough for the American road system. But it does not go fast, it does not accelerate quickly, and it does not tow well.
  5. 80 series is the best of the bunch (though overpriced for now). But they will last. Live front axle, the in-line 6, just very, very reliable. By far the best off-roading vehicle I have ever owned (I've had two 80s, a 100, a FJ55, a 200 and a late model Tundra, and nothing comes anywhere even remotely close to the 80). They are very easy to work on, and very easy to modify. Great all around vehicles. I miss my 97 40th Anniversary 80 series every day.
  6. The 80 is terrible at towing. It's the best car I have ever owned but it's not good for that.
  7. Phil is the worst dude in the world. Watching his stupid plan blow up in his face is a complete delight.
  8. Fuck St. Urban right in the throat spasms. Can't wait to watch him fail
  9. you will love it. I have a 2014 and it's outstanding. Only downside is gas mileage is atrocious. I've been driving Land Cruisers since 1994 though so I'm used to it.
  10. Not sure if this has been posted, but Chef's Table - Dario Cecchini is excellent and I highly recommend it to any steak lover. https://voyageofthemind.com/2020/05/31/chefs-table-companion-episode-2-to-beef-or-not-to-beef/
  11. Agreed. Fuck that dude. I like watching him lose.
  12. They aren’t willing to work as hard.
  13. Nice mount. There's not a lot of overlap between deer hunters and die-hard Liberace fans, but that's cool
  14. 750ml and doctorate of education. Okay, it's Jill Biden
  15. So did mine. But everything checks out with the doctor
  16. Good advice. However, there are several older O/Us that have no cast at all, like a Browning Superposed. I've been told that Franchi sells O/Us without cast as well.
  17. The best part of that whole exchange is how the dude keeps moving the can around testing different grips before he pops Mr. Mouth. Like "no, not this one. This one feels better. No I can't really hold it like this. Oh yeah, here we go, this is the one." CRACK
  18. I drink a lot of vodka. If I'm just drinking the usual day-to-day after dinner drinking, I can maybe make a bottle last two days. I keep it in the freezer and just pour it in a glass cold. I don't even really feel it unless I get into the second bottle in a night. Over the course of a day I could probably drink three bottles if I started early and paced myself. Probably can't drink as much whiskey, but numbers are similar. I do not like gin since the time I drank a handle of warm Beefeater in South Boston on St. Patty's Day and had to go to work the next morning after sleeping underneath a car. In college, I drank mostly beer, and the numbers of beer I drank were incalculable until my fraternity assigned a pledge to count my drinks. I think they did this to shame me but we made it a competition to see if I could beat the prior day's number. It was great fun. The number got very large. On a bet I chugged 15 beers in two minutes (these were the small Solo cups so it's like 10oz pours or whatever) and then drank 30 beers in three minutes the next day. I puked after the 30, so I don't think that counts. The hangovers have cured me of sport drinking. Reading the story about having to go to the hospital at 40 made me dry heave a little. But I can still put some booze away if I just get into the rhythm of doing it.
  19. This is not true. Only Superman can LAND. Anyone can fly.
  20. I always brown the chicken and the sausage, and at least sweat the veggies, before adding them to the gumbo. Just adds another layer of flavor in my experience.
  21. Mullen is a clown
  22. That will change some with Sark. He’s an excellent recruiter.
  23. Because you like rape?
  24. Hello. It is me again, only this time I am from the future. I have come backward in time to warn you not to watch this movie.
