  1. Lower jaw has not been pulled yet, but I will get it when the taxi is done. However, I have watched this deer for 5 seasons now as his G2s provided easy identification. In 2019 (my 1st season on this ranch), I visually aged him at 4 in 2019 and I’m estimating he’s around 8/9 years old. He weighed 168 lbs on the hoof. Most of our mature bucks weigh around 200 lbs prior to the rut so he definitely ran off some lbs. Green score was 178 inches. I didn’t completely avoid dispirit during the hunt as it seemed as if this deer could sense when I was in the blind. I would get pictures of him at the feeder during the week and then he wouldn’t show on the weekends when I was out there. I even changed my normal parking spot for that blind later in the year as I was convinced he could spot the truck and avoid me. He’a a memorable deer and I’ve never worked this hard for a single deer.
  2. Why didn’t the Republicans when they controlled all 3 branches in 2016-2018? Abbott is absolutely wasting Texas taxpayer money for trying to score political points for his team. Additionally, with his provision of free transportation has actually encouraged more migration.
  3. Last Sunday, I was finally at the same place as this deer that I’ve been hunting since November. Protein feeders are being filled this week and hopefully these deer will start recovering from the rut.
  4. Finally saw this on Apple+ last night. I’m glad I watched it and know this piece of history. However, I can’t imagine ever watching it again. It’s just too long to watch in a single sitting and there is no real suspense to the movie.
  5. Can the starters go deeper if we went with a 6 man rotation?
  6. My place is off the beaten path and I have about 1 incident per year under each of the last 2 administrations. Also, I’ve only had vehicle issues and have never had any problems with break-ins, etc.
  7. With respect to the property damage comment, how much of the damage is caused by poorly thought out pursuits by law enforcement? It’s my impression that most of the property damages to ranches occurs due to high-speed chases with law enforcement. I don’t know the answer to this, but a lot of the complaints may disappear if we didn’t have fences damaged due to the multiple car chases everyday. This is coming from a ranch-owner in South Texas.
  8. Well that makes a little more sense and I applaud Coach Davis for getting the Cajuns to give him a raise and coach his son.
  9. Why are we losing a coach to LSU for a lateral move/300k in pay? This makes no fucking sense.
  10. If someone really had the secret to getting wealthy, why would they sell it to random people for pennies on the dollar via books and/or seminars?
  11. Their concern is that once 1 chain opens on Sundays they will have to follow suit. Effectively the law protects them from a moron competitor to the detriment of the consumer.
  12. Trump was correct on China. However, as always, his and his team’s incompetence removes any credit for this. If we want to make any progress on China, it will take the US and Europe jointly working this and punishing China for their behavior. Trump decided to piss off the world before actually doing anything on China which removed any opportunity for real success. The Trump tariffs on China which Biden has chosen to continue are mostly being borne through higher prices on US consumers and have likely cost American jobs on a net basis. Additionally, the American taxpayer went on the hook for billions in additional farm subsidies when American farmers cried about the retaliatory Chinese tariffs. It’s a dumbass policy straight out of the 1700s.
  13. I’m really interested to see how Ewers responds. After his first year at UT, I never would have guessed that he would get his body in shape for the past season. He clearly put in a lot of work last offseason. Maybe he can lead the team into putting in that kind of effort?
  14. 2023 was a great season. Time for the coaches to grind in the portal and address some needs. The team needs to put in the work during the off-season and continue to improve. 2 fumbles and drive-killing offensive penalties were the difference last night against a great offense. Quinn needs to take a page from the greatest: ”Whoever wants to beat Michigan in 2024, offseason workouts start…”
  15. Still can’t believe Washington didn’t take a knee on that third down.
  16. Let’s get another aggressive defensive series!
  17. If we stop stepping on our dicks, we can get back in this here.
