  1. If. Last years team accomplished neither with a better team. Let start with just beating UGA in a couple weeks.
  2. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12h_tZswkECRuDkOo9D0m8HHQstBZFlZXvKrSOWuBTsY/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0 I sure hope to have the option but I'm not going to rule out moving or just getting a studio in the right neighborhood if worse comes to worse.
  3. "We will start formally defining our policy for this review process in January 2026. Our first review will begin in Summer 2028, two years after the consolidation changes go into effect. Note that this review does not mean we will make additional changes to boundaries or transfer policies but will hold us accountable to ensuring enrollment stays balanced. " They may do that at some point but from what I've read it won't be immediate and they will keep transfer policies in place but instead just be more thoughtful about how many they approve with less schools and the remaining ones more full than before. We will finish up in the Elementary we are at today but the zoned middle could end up quite different so will definitely be looking at transfer options.
  4. I have heard they might make changes to transfers but not they would no longer allow them. Where is this from? Maplewood being folded into Campbell might be the only instance of better students that will be bringing up the scores of a lesser school. So many others are just taking a really bad campus and placing it into a somewhat bad one so it should have the opposite effect. Oak Springs > Blackshear; Martin > Kealing. Or just rezoning students Central Austin students from Kealing to O'Henry. (this one is particularly interesting... since you are going to bring Kealing down with Martin better move those central Austin kids over to O'Henry Central East Austin students that would go to McCallum now moved to NE High.
  5. Absolutely. Oracle Eastside and Dell NorthEast. The current names they have for the Eastside schools (other than LBJ) are very lame.
  6. Houses have appreciated a ton, locked in some 3% rate. Sitting on plenty of money. Healthy active lifestyle so you don’t need to move to assisted living. And I also think it is a cultural shift that they have a more social life and not ready to uproot and move to some other community.
  7. Well let's fix recapture. Even a small portion of that staying with Austin ISD fixes budget shortfalls. If 1,000 kids opt for private school and take the $10K with then that's just a tiny portion of what recapture does to our school system.
  8. Opposite? I thought the voucher system did have some mechanism for prioritizing disabled and low income families? I'm not totally in favor of vouchers and am more focused on Austin continuing an open transfer system so I have more choices... but as a resident of East Austin where the school choices are already rough and only going to get worse as they consolidate ( awful ones joining the mediocre ones or vice versa) I would like some good options. My preferences is not private but I have plenty of neighbors that do not send their kids to public and instead go for private or charter. Furthermore as our 60% of our school tax dollars dollar go outside of Austin I can see that vouchers could be attractive when your options that are paid for from tax dollars are not great.
  9. McCallum looks like it will be in better shape post redrawing so should have more room. My kids are still elementary so a long way to go so hopefully I will have several options when it comes time.
  10. Continuing the sins of the past by redrawing the lines where kids east of 35 are zoned to crappier east Austin schools by moving the McCallum lines west and Kealing lines east. Those schools are going to take a hit and continue down the bad path.
  11. Woof, I missed all the EOSE fun... did not stay the course and sold out mid last year. Have stay true to UUUU and IBRX for better or worse.
  12. Just let all these other districts figure it out through the tax base. I’m a bit tired of our taxes going up just to have a large portion of that go elsewhere.
  13. PSA, Twin in Tarrytown had a few of each this morning. I heard the new Specs on 35th had Weller12 and Blanton as well.
  14. Buying IBRX? Fairly early on I did have a good amount of BTC but then I found out about leveraged trading on BitMex and blew it all. Work wise I could have joined a small startup many years ago called Klaviyo but would have had to move to Boston.
  15. Horns win 27 - 13 Manning 230 yards
  16. From the AMEX lounge in DFW FIGHT!!
  17. If he’s clean let him in. At the DFW lounge and plenty of Buckeyes waiting to fly out tonight.
  18. Get there early when it opens. Gets way busier around 9 or 10.
  19. Sammies is pretty good but just like any other MML place... good but expensive. Be ready to spend $100pp min.
  20. I go to the Wash Shop on Guadalupe just north of campus. Just the emission test took around 5 min but I did need to wait 24 hours before doing the registration renewal online but they give you a email receipt that can be used for a month until you get the sticker mailed.
  21. I have checked that one out as well and there is a bus from Austin so it's on the list. I do like the idea of a place that is a different climate and probably a lot more kids from various areas. She has just really enjoyed the all girl Mystic experience.
  22. Well that's part of the problem. She was on the Mystic list since basically birth. If it takes several more years to get in here then I'd probably rather just stick with whichever camp she starts going next year.
  23. I wonder if Heart of the Hills suffers the same fate... La Junta just posted something about working to restore so they can welcome all campers back next summer so maybe since they did not have that same loss they could recover but are there going to be tons of families that now decide not to send them back. My daughter is a Guad camper at Mystic and is emphatic that she only wants to go to Mystic not anywhere else. However, I would agree that even the Cypress Lake camp may not reopen so I'm having to figure out what other options there might be. Unfortunately, there just are not a ton of Central TX options for all girls camps with that same feel.
  24. Yes, but I'd like to be somewhat sure before dropping a ton of non-refundable deposits into various camps. Camps can be crazy expensive. One that I had been looking at for a bit in NC is $8600 for the four week period! And it's $1000 to just get on the waiting list.
