"Hours after Arizona’s supreme court declared on Tuesday that a 160-year-old abortion ban is now enforceable, Republicans in the state took a surprising stance for a party that has historically championed abortion restrictions – they denounced the decision.

“This decision cannot stand,” said Matt Gress, a Republican state representative. “I categorically reject rolling back the clock to a time when slavery was still legal and we could lock up women and doctors because of an abortion.”

“Today’s Arizona supreme court decision reinstating an Arizona territorial-era ban on all abortions from more than 150 years ago is disappointing to say the least,” said TJ Shope, a Republican state senator.

We've obviously established why the stupids gravitate towards the dotard, but I cannot for the life of me figure out people like my sister and her husband.  Both have UT degrees (engineering and advertising), he owns his own business, and they live in a large house near Brisket and have never wanted for anything.  Yet they both are steadfast in their support, maybe even moreso now, even after having seen the past years of insanity with the Rs.

I can't square it.  The only thing I can think is that he went down the Joe Rogan path a few years ago and it broke his brain.

I don't get it either. My whole family votes Trump - both my sisters, their husbands, and most of their now voting-age kids, as well as my parents (who are in their 80s, so they're gonna vote R no matter what). But they're all otherwise intelligent, college-educated, successful people. They just flat-out refuse, for whatever reason, to see what the rest of us see.

My oldest sister is the worst. She's full-on MAGA, and hangs around with like-minded people, belives in conspiracies, etc. It kills me. I've usually bitten my tongue, but she recently forwarded me Tucker Carlson's documentary on "what really happened on Jan. 6" (her words). I couldn't take it and finally lashed out, told her what I think of Tucker/Trump/MAGA. She asked me how I could support someone like Biden, who "sold our country out to China", Burisma, etc, etc. All the bullshit. I asked her how she could support someone who tried to overthrow an election and was found guilty of years of fraud and liable for rape. Her response? "IT'S ALL A WITCH HUNT!"... I give up. It makes me truly sad.

  3. MO ex-Proud Boy who wore ‘Right Wing Death Squad’ cap to Capitol on Jan. 6 found guilty

A southeast Missouri man with ties to the Kansas City-area Proud Boys pleaded guilty Wednesday to two felonies involving the Capitol riot and was found guilty by a judge on a third felony count.

Nicholas Kennedy, 43, of Sikeston, entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to one count of civil disorder and one count of tampering with records, documents or other objects. And Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly found him guilty of a felony count for obstruction of an official proceeding based on an agreed set of facts between the government and Kennedy’s attorneys.

Kennedy’s sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 28. He faces a likely sentence of between 18 months and 24 months in prison, but could be subject to a maximum of 20 years in prison on two of the felony charges.

Since launching her Senate bid, Lake has set up meetings to mend relationships with other Republicans she cast aside during her run for governor, like Kathy Petsas, a former local party chair in Lake’s home legislative district. Lake’s campaign tweeted at her in 2022: “Kathy, You’re exactly the type of demographic that we feel no need to appeal to.”

“I don’t know one person that she’s gotten on her side of the people who she offended,” Petsas said, suggesting Lake’s overtures have fallen flat. “There’s nobody from my circle that she’s gained, and she’s even alienated some previous supporters, too, who I know.”

This is the one good thing about the MAGA types. They're too dumb to try and win people over and build a true coalition. And when they do try, it's (hopefully) too late.

Sandy Hook, Uvalde, El Paso Walmart, and all the others ... it does not matter how many kids or people die.

As I have posted here before, the MAGA-Q goal is "ultraviolence" (from A Clockwork Orange) -- a society terrorized and traumatized by random bloody violence. It's a feature, not a bug.

With rando dudes piling up the AR-15 body count, ultraviolence breeds fear and permanent anxiety over senseless massacres. That's the toxic mix for a fascist-theocratic takeover as people surrender liberties for (the illusion of) security and sanity.

But there will be no peace of mind. No sanity.

Alex Jones, Q, and MAGA already prove that.
