  1. Ref's voice/delivery makes it sound like he's telling on someone
  2. Per a 2016 ESPN article: "It seems that some officials have been interpreting the crown of the helmet to mean the tip-top portion of the helmet only," NCAA Football Secretary-Rules Editor Rogers Redding said in a release. "We want everyone to understand that the crown of the helmet starts from the area above the facemask to the dome of the helmet."
  3. [Not my wife disclaimer] Setting: FedEx Print/Ship Center. Couple in front of me discussing batch printing pamphlets with the cashier. Wife: When it's done, are you able to ship them to me? Or do I have to come here to pick them up? [FedEx Rep makes a wry smile. Husband chuckles under his breath] FedEx Rep: Ummm, yes, ma'am, we can arrange to have the final product shipped to you.
  4. Recommend adding Rare downtown to your steakhouse list for consideration. BLT is very good though. For more casual spots in Gtown, I like Thunderburger. Tombs is kind of interesting as a college bar and near the Exorcist steps. Martin's Tavern for the JFK history. Il Canale or Filomena if you're looking for Italian.
  5. I used to dislike these, but over time they grew on me to the point that I crack up for nearly every scene. And the Tac Amplifier (youtube not allowing embedding, but worth the watch) Bell + Howell Tac Amplifie I'm going to submit my resume to Bell + Howell. I may not have the minimum number of tactical situation experiences to cut it though.
  6. You are at a very large building with lots of entrances, road construction nearby, and one way streets getting in and out, so you send the person picking you up a google maps pin with the precise location of where you want them to meet you. You explain that the meeting point you sent is at a particular entrance that will simplify their drive in and out as well as simplify the pickup, so it's important to understand that the pin is precise. The driver insists on having the address so that they can plug it into their GPS. You tell them to just drive to the pin, but they insist on the address. They call saying they are stuck due to a construction detour. This is the first sign they aren't using your pin. Eventually, they arrive, but you do not see them. They keep telling you they are at the pin despite the fact that you are standing at it within 10'. When they say "at the pin" they mean "when you zoom out far enough that you can see the entire city". They are actually on the other side of the massive building, which you cannot walk across due to security checkpoints. You start walking around the building and end up driving through a bunch of one way streets with construction detours.
  7. I know the origin of the Bulldogs part. What's the origin of "Texum"?
  8. Agree that 16 is too many for two reasons. 1) When you get to #16, you're seeing teams with 3+ losses. "Deserving" is the key word here others brought up. 2) It seems year in and year out, you can draw a pretty clear line somewhere in the range of #6 - #10 where you see a clear separation between teams that can compete with the #1 - #4 teams if they played a hypothetical 10 game series and those that would really struggle. Granted, this year is a little murkier, but I'd draw this year's line at 8.5, just to see what UCF could do. Someone brought up the scenario where a team starts slow with a few losses due to a key injury, youth at key positions, etc, and misses their conf championship as a result; however, they demonstrate undeniable potential to win a playoff down the stretch. Eight slots gives you enough room where a committee could get that team in, where four is too restrictive. No such scenario in the recent past comes to mind, so this doesn't concern me a great deal. I prefer eight, but could get on board with a 12 team concept with first round byes for 1-4.
  9. As RPM reminds us, get the peaches ready. ItsHappening.gif https://deadline.com/2018/11/deadwood-movie-begins-production-hbo-david-milch-1202496154/ Looks like they were able to get pretty much everyone back... except two of my favorites. Interesting Powers Boothe trivia: Also, Richardson is no longer with us. Interesting story there too: I hope EB was there to give the eulogy. So many great characters and actors. I see parallels to Seinfeld in that you have one actor (Jerry / Seth) holding things together while the rest of the characters do their thing. I think there's a thread here talking about not recognizing actors/actresses in roles. Robin Weigert (Jane Cannery) would be an excellent example of looking radically different in and out of character.
  10. Wonder if HBO would give her a look. Not sure her core demographics and HBO audience overlap much. Could create a pretty compelling show / interview series with the latitude a network like HBO offers.
  11. I imagine it's a combination of: - risk of qbs fumbling when they have gotten so used to shotgun snaps, especially with the pressure of everyone crowding the line and focusing on getting the snap count right - like to have fwd momentum via a FB/RB - aggy interior DL is probably the best part of their D
  12. Maybe this is what they meant:
  13. Big boy defense on display
  14. I thought I was the only one that thought that
  15. Not much wrong with this commercial. I'm more interested in how it get's a reaction out of me. I'm busy doing something else, not paying attention... TV: [random voices] "But there's always one amazing shot" [random voices] [woman's voice] "The twins!" I'm convinced it's intentional.
  16. TV announcer: If he makes that catch, he's going the distance [cut to replay zoomed in on receiver with no one else in the shot... then the camera zooms out to show a safety closing in to force the player out of bounds]
  17. Hornibrook is one of our better quarterbacks over the past ~15 yrs and I'd argue a top 30 QB in the country. Wilson and Tolzien are the others I'd throw up for arguments. Hornibrook can be hit and miss on deep balls, but he can zip mid range throws when needed. I'm noticing his footwork is sloppy today, which is where some of the throwing criticism is coming from. Traditionally, we'll have a great offensive line and a great RB to take pressure off the QB. In addition, we'll have one good possession WR, an NFL caliber TE, a very serviceable backup for 2TE sets, and usually a FB or RB who can help out. This year we have the OL and RB, but no real, established WR threat, two avg TEs, and no real receiving threats out of the backfield. When the receivers can't get open or he's trying to come back from a deficit, he can force things... (throws a pick 6 as I'm typing this). I think that's where most of Hornibrook's troubles are coming from.
  18. Couldn't recall Gilmore's football history, so I looked him up on Wikipedia: "He is a 1982 graduate of Stanford University, where he rode the pine for the large part of three years..."
  19. I was curious about Rod Gilmore's playing history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Gilmore: "He is a 1982 graduate of Stanford University, where he rode the pine for the large part of three years..."
