  1. Impeach - eventually. First about 18 months of hearings and Mueller related info releases to stain and torture the pubs into ignominy. So the 2020 elections can then ... drain the swamp.
  2. The last one I remember was n 76 or 78 when Prop 13, which froze property taxes at sale price was passed with a sizeable majority, against the campaign of then governor Jerry Brown. When asked the next day if he would honor the vote, he said yes because "I don't learn fast but I learn real good". Then I did a 180 and thought he was good.
  3. Had it frozen now for 6 years. Learned to live with that. Did one HELOC during that period, and had to turn it off and back on. Keeps you disciplilned. And cuts down on the worry.
  4. Your will love retirement, with no business mileage status to prop up your sense of worth. The comedown is healthy, at least I keep telling myself that.
  5. I think the idea is to hold hearings into 2020, exposing more and more and more, putting pub Senators up for 2020 re-election under incredible building pressure. They may then divorce Trump in a (hopefully futile) attempt to save their seat (ass). I know the idea of keeping Trump around longer simply to help with Senate elections seems shitty, but please be reminded of the Brisket take on Senate pubs: will never, under any circumstances, convict.
  6. This brings to mind a CSI episode where a guy filled his mailbox with cement to fuck with some folks who were bashing it with a bat as they drove by. Ended up causing a fatal wreck and the guy got fitted for an orange suit. YMMV. I have no idea what the legal line is in these situations.
  7. Spent Thanksgiving in Commerce, pretty much a poster child of dying small town. They have two Dollar stores. But also a Brahms, which kicks some ass. And a pos rep for Lulu's burger joint: shakes and floats with Bluebell.
  8. That is like a scene from a distant planet. Just a couple of light years away.
  9. You are not a law expert? Oh, my sarcasm meter needs a check.
  10. I was pretty horrified at his election, but, based on my 64 years' experience, I thought the office requirements would bring some normalcy to his behavior. I was as wrong as could be on that front, and also underestimated the sheer mendacity of the dude, even after seeing his campaign antics. So, yes, we all should have seen this coming, but sure as hell didn't. Still, that 40%. They will vote for anybody to fullfill their manipulated resentment.
  11. So you're saying there's a chance?
  12. Just finished Identity, by Francis Fukuyama. He is such a clear writer. I had heard him referenced often over the years, figuring him for some obscure academic. I'll need to look into him a bit more. Anyway, its a look into the cultural evolution, over the centuries, of the current idea of social and political identity, and the uncertain implications. He ends up linking Trumpkins, Islamists, and Multiculturlists in the same basket. Anyone left? Its a slim little volume one can consume in a cross country flight.
  13. I have also always believed this. Still, it will be interesting, and disgusting, to watch the pub Senators begin again this week demonstrating the low viscosity of their backbones.
  14. That motherfucker is off the fucking reservation, JFC
  15. Disrupting elections with misinformation is not a political cause as I would define it. That's just me.
  16. Well, we knew he was breaking the law every week, at least. Now we know its simply every day, multiple times a day. Nothing here, move along.
  17. Fucking this. Tillerson is a disgrace to UT Engineering, and to Eagle Scouts. His respect for the truth is one of convenience only. We'd be working with Exxon people in JV's they were operating. Production way negative off trend, as happens. Us: what's your new forecast? Them: There is no new forecast, we can't discuss forecasts until management approves them. Us. This is a technical meeting, a technical question. Them: Same answer. He was at that time head of upstream, this was his culture. The truth is simply that which he calls his self dealing message.
  18. Not a microwave, but a convection. A bit over $200 on Amazon. My daughter and SIL have had one or a few years, and that's why we got one. For one thing, I can cook a loaf of bread from dough, I sort of found that amazing. Makes the best toasted cheese ever. Fresh pizza. I guess I was not that familiar with convection ovens, so the precision of this is what I found surprising. Set the timer for the specific item and it comes out perfect. The kids use theirs almost every day, and he is a chef. They've had it about 5 years and it runs like the day they got it. With this and an insta-pot, you could do some amazing stuff in a small space. Mind you, I love cooking conventionally, but sometimes I'm looking for convenience.
  19. That makes my 16qt pot look like a thimble. Not sure the mishtress would let one of those coleman numbers in the kitchen.
  20. Had some B&D undercounter numbers over the course of a couple of decades. At $20 how could you go wrong. Finally upgraded to the Breville this year. Absolutely bad ass, for a great number of true oven tasks. More than your budget, but its like .... well, I was going to say Cadillac but that doesn't work anymore. Maybe one of those Lexus LS 500's.
  21. Couple of nice people on that ticket. What in the hell are you thinking?
  22. Right. They made their choices. So live with it.
