Yes. With a caveat or two. What show?
Downstairs can be an absolute shit-show for a packed show. Caamp last week would’ve been miserable on the lower level. The crowd downstairs can get “chatty” and will ruin a show if you’re a little further back and not with the die-hands closer to the stage.
It’s also nice to have a chair in between opening act and headliner. (Fuck, I’m getting old.) I’m also 5-10 and seems like the majority of concert-goers are 6-foot and up so you’ve got to bob and weave at times to get a good view if there’s no “grade” to the floor and there’s not at the Bomb Factory.
So I’ll leave it at this — if it’s a show that you absolutely do not want to risk a bad experience, spring for upstairs. If you don’t care if there are a bunch of college frat kids around you talking during the show (depends on the show for sure), then maybe it’s not that big of a deal. The good news is there is not a bad upstairs seat in the place though I’d say front row on the left (opposite the “suites”) are the best upstairs seats.
