That's awesome af. Karting is amazing for giving us opportunities for moments like that.
Warning, /csb alert: I dunno if any of you ever got to drive at Driveway Austin before the Dollahites sold it, but man, I miss that place. It was the only place in Austin where you could show up and race against some pretty decent drivers, some serious karters, and all the way up to the occasional pro driver. Standing starts and actual racing, not time trialing. I used to race against Scott Dollahite fairly often. He's pretty damn talented like his old man Bill. Dude can do some mind-blowing shit on a shifter kart. I never beat him, but I could hang a little, despite Scott being so much smaller. Once, I was leading a race and this little Argentine guy got inside me on the second lap, rubbing me wide at that big, long, left-hand carousel turn and taking the lead. When you go off the racing line right there, you lose a ton of time. I lost 2 or 3 positions but hung in there, and 3 or 4 laps later I came back and pulled the exact same move on him & checked out for the win. After the race all the guys were buzzing about that guy being pissed off, complaining that his kart was too slow, etc, even though he finished P2. Turned out he raced professionally in Argentina & was butthurt about some 50 year old, 6" taller, 70 pound heavier, 'arrive & drive' nobody owning his shit. I just laughed and ignored him, enjoying the win. I didn't get the memo about deferring to the little guys with big egos lol.

Villeneuve. Glad someone is checking Karun & taking some talk time away from him. Re: the lack of tact, well, he's French (Canadian), so ....
