  1. Yep. I'm a firefighter who's had fairly extensive swiftwater rescue training and has made a few rescues in my time. Even so, I was utterly shocked by what I saw in the video of the water rising at the Center Point bridge over the Guadalupe. I've heard of and even seen some 'walls of water', but I had no idea something like that was even a thing. That video and these events have changed forever my view of flash flooding situations.
  2. Srsly. Stupid shit like this "weather weaponization" idiocy is something we used to only hear from our 11-toed methmouth cousin who lived in the trailer out back. But now, thanks to the internet, these morons get to infect the rest of humanity with their stupidity.
  3. Well, this. Exactly. Getting the forecast right and issuing an alert is just part of the deal. Not having an EAC is huge imho, and iirc according to what's been reported the EACs in at least San Angelo and Austin took the early retirement (forced retirement) 'offered' by the DOGE demons.
  4. Or the more than $500M they've given to COTA, so far. COTA, who lies their asses off re: attendance to justify it, and which isn't actually eligible for the subsidy in the first place etc, etc.
  5. I don't think it requires that much either. The bigger point imho is how little it would cost to cover even a much larger area than necessary.
  6. Am I the only one who sees Dwayne Johnson every time they see that gif? WWtRD?
  7. nsiap. I can't catch up.
  8. More than 24 hours of Niagara flow? Holy fucking shit.
  9. 1000% of this, esp the bold bit.
  10. No phones needed. No registration. Just a direct, audible warning to everyone along the river. Add flashing lights for the deaf. Sometimes the old ways are the best ways.
  11. Cosigned. So sick of all the fake bullshit wannabe cowboy posers. Where do we start?
  12. :dropsmic: Also, nsiap:
  13. Fucking hell. From almost nothing to above the roadway in less than 40 minutes, on a bridge that looks 30-40' high. I told my wife earlier that -esp with this being July 4th weekend - there were probably a whole lot of campers missing that aren't even being counted yet as 'missing', so I don't think they even have a good idea yet how many are actually missing. Then we saw a video at an RV park where there had been 28 RVs parked. They all got washed away. Unknown how many people made it out. Many of them - sometimes whole families - got washed downstream even with people trying their best to rescue them. And that's at an RV park. Now think of all the people who just roll up in their car and pitch a tent. I'm sure we haven't even come close to learning the true extent of this horrific disaster.
  14. A true statesman. How refreshing.
  15. fwiw ...
  16. 100%. And, I'm just curious ... was the Jim Spencer post moved here from the DT thread or was it actually posted here after the 'sanitation crew' wrecked shit? If it was moved ... well ... why in the actual fuck?
  17. Welp ... there ya go. I'm having trouble finding this. Anyone have a link for me to post on a very nitpicky board I post on? Never mind. I found it on his FB page.
  18. Yeah you could see she was really pissed and had something to say as soon as they cut away from the presser. Good for her.
  19. Same NWS that recently suffered big cuts to personnel and resources?
  20. I was talking about the morons who support them.
  21. The stupidest people on the planet.
  22. Thanks fucking amazing. From one storm that wasn't even in the forecast.
  23. u Yep, and there have been two little-publicized incidents in the last , idk, 10 years that I know of where AFD crews were assaulted upon arrival. One in NE Austin where a crew was attacked by a man in the front yard of a residence after being called there for an emergency, resulting in serious injuries to at least one FF. Another was downtown, where some homeless folks had been squatting in an abandoned building and starting fires inside the building for cooking and/or for heat. Can't remember what season it was when this happened. Crew was assaulted trying to extinguish one of those fires.

    F1 - Apple

He's a douchebag with an affected announcing style and agonizingly slow cadence for effect. On DTS he's the leader of the false narratives that show thrives on, always villainizing one driver or making a hero of another, using imagined conflicts or other fabricated events as the fuel for the narrative. DTS is mostly fiction with a pretty F1 backdrop.
