  1. Eh, so, look at his face and reactions during that video. As I've suspected all along, he has no fucking idea what EOs these dipshits are bringing to him until they explain it to him. Then he goes 'Oh that seems like a good idea', and signs it. Holy fucking shit.
  2. And lol, would ya look at that ... https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/faa-provides-aviation-careers-people-disabilities In the text of that release, 'targeted disabilities' bit was a link. I clicked on it, and got a 404-File not found message. Interesting.
  3. ... and it's still less than 24 hours since the crash.
  4. Just got back & saw the new thread. So, MTV Bro Secretary of Transportation has already told us "Plane hit other plane. Not good!" - in his expert opinion, of course. What wisdom did Fox News Bro SecDef bestow upon us?
  5. ^ So, in other words, MTV bro fuckstick Duffy knows less about this shit than we do. "Let me be clear. Plane hit other plane. Not good!" FML.
  6. It's for safety. Most of those vehicles are on or very near public roadways, park access roads, etc, even when stationary. They may have people working around them, may have to reposition at a moment's notice, etc ...
  7. nsiap. Dunno if real. On a related note, don't care if real.
  8. Don't care if real ...
  9. Yeah taking the political temperature of the whole country based on Mobilehoma and Texas is a bold strategy.
  10. Realignment talk still not going away ...
  11. JFC. Milley should get an extra star, not lose one.
  12. I've always been partial to 'Mobilehoma'.
  13. Yeah I'd never seen it in the theater, and we went to see it on an IMAX screen while it was here in Austin. Just phenomenal. And yeah, Oppenheimer is good, but it isn't even close to Interstellar imho.
  14. nsiap ...Trae Crowder doin' his thang. Part 1 of 3. Follow the link for the other two.
  15. Wait. There's a guy in that gif? For some reason I can't see him ...
  16. I gotta take a dump in a bit. Been a while. I'll kick in a pic or two ...
  17. Yeah absolutely that setup could work for incipient fires, and it would always be better than nothing, provided it's used right. I'd recommend some basic training on the most efficient way to attack the fire if any of y'all wanna do something like this. That way you get the most effect from the least amount of water and put yourself in less danger.
  18. NSIAP ... Is this real? There's stuff about it on reddit and some obscure websites, but I haven't been able to find any solid verification.
  19. Yeah we were watching LA fire coverage on the Weather Channel the other night. They did a cool demo where they applied water to a pile of sand, a pile of dirt, and a pile of dirt with ash mixed in. The sand and the dirt soaked up a substantial amount of water while water ran off of the ash/dirt pile immediately. Really good demo.
  20. I think you're probably onto something re: the size of the embers, and maybe a fine enough screen would help a whole lot. Another problem, though, is that the products of combustion of the fire outside are often hot enough on their own and contain enough unburnt fuel in them to spread the fire by themselves if they get into the attic. Even the CO in the smoke is highly flammable. When you see the fire 'licking' way up high into the flames, that's usually the smoke itself igniting. So covering the vents completely with a fire-rated material and removing fuels close to the house would probably help even more. Basically, what @Bevo & @flatdawgs said.
  21. I like the idea, but there's one important thing missing here. The result you get from that formula is not the total number of gallons needed to control the fire. It's gallons per minute. So an 1800 sf house, if fully involved, would require 1800/3 = 600 GPM to control the fire. 50% involved, you'd need 300 GPM, and so on. That formula is an estimation, and it usually takes more water for a defensive posture (surround & drown) than an offensive attack.
  22. Wrong M. I was referring to Alonso, who started with Minardi. Ocon came up with Manor.
