I would have liked to see parks added instead but with morris out, I can see the logic in adding him.
  2. That’s 1.58 miles daily of caulking the cracks in the bathroom tile; going Hans Solo on Darth Vader and evicting the testicular squatters.
  3. TOS: “FWIW, this will be a special assistant role” in regards to Matson. Terry did a good job after Beard stepped away and resigned. Haith, McClain and Chappell are the three assistants. Seems like a capable staff. The roster has some issues but is intriguing. Overall I’ll be excited to see how it goes in the fall. And especially in the expanded B12.
  4. For the last ten months I’ve worne a garmin swim 2 watch because it covers open water swims. I like it because it keeps stats where I can see how much Ive swam. My average is 58.27 miles per month so far. Before I just had a cheap waterproofCasio and would only wear it to make sure I wasn’t late for work if I did a lunchtime or morning swim.
  5. Will tcm start showing commercials or will it be worse? https://www.npr.org/2023/06/28/1184544944/tcm-turner-classic-movies-david-zaslav
  6. The Wire for me is the greatest show I’ve seen. And it’s one that stands up to repeat viewings. It was different than NYPD/Hill Street Blues/Homicide because it was as much a criminal show as it was a cop show. https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20211015-why-the-wire-is-the-greatest-tv-series-of-the-21st-century
  7. Was on the road and didn’t realize Daniel Ellsberg had died. He considered himself a patriot and I agree.
  8. I rarely drink anymore, but there was a time where my buddy and I blew .40 in a bar breathalyzer. We walked to the closest all night restaurant and called his wife to come pick us up. My dad died from drinking (cirrhosis) and had two dui’s. It sucked being an aging alcoholic. What was once his friends at the tennis club, strip joints and bars disappeared. Hr blew out his knees and shoulders from tennis and lost his retirement due to his wife’s gambling. She had holes to fill and those holes were real. They were quite the couple, she lost enough at the casinos so that he could drink for free. No one came to visit regularly as his best friend had Alzheimer’s and his buddy’s wife never forgave him for permitting her husband to meet up with an old girlfriend at the 50th HS class reunion. So he isolated himself by watching the golf channel and reading mystery novels while drinking and drinking. Had to learn that was not the road I wanted to take. The spark was having two young kids running around while I suffered through hangovers. The kids are grown, so now I have blowouts once or twice a year. And why drink alone if I’m loosening inhibitions. I was part of an over 50 basketball group and every once in a while we’d get an email that Bob died at age 77 while playing basketball at the JCC. Condolences to Bob and his family but also congratulations. Way to go Bob that’s the way to do it. Good luck to bob and his daughter. Maybe he can find a pickle ball court somewhere.
  9. I’m really liking his “You Want It Darker” with the Jewish lady singing Hebrew. Combine that with Slaid Cleaves “Natures Darker Laws” and that’s a nice start of songs with darker in the title. I’ve been a big fan since “I’m Your Man” and that led me to his earlier stuff. The tribute album came out and I liked some of the covers like “stories of the street” from That Petrol Emotion and “don’t go home with a hardon”, but Cale’s version of “Hallelujah” blew me away.
  10. This was on pbs the other night. Hearing a snippet of Peter Wolf as a DJ was fantastic.
  11. Uruguay beats Italy 1-0 in the final. Italy didn’t have a shot on goal.
  12. Driving to Seattle next week with my son. Taking our time over 5 days and then meeting his sister for some day trips before I fly home and he starts work Late July for sons grad trip doing a cruise from Barcelona - Marseille- Cannes - Mallorca - Ibiza and back to Barcelona as a grad trip. He goes back to Seattle and I fly to Seville to meet my lady friend where we’ll spend a week between there and Malaga.
  13. Out of the Past - Kathy Moffat was a fun gal. “Hang my gallows high baby” Name of the book, English movie title and Mitchum’s quote at the end. Much more fitting title.
  14. Nice video breakdown of Abmas. What an amazing shooter and pnr’s with Disu for midrange and Shedrick and Mitchell for rolls to the bucket should be a strength. Will his defense improve or will he at least give more effort? Will better conditioning enable him to do so without taking away from his offense? Shedrick can help on d for drives but will get eaten up on pnr’s if abmas continues same lack of effort. Hunter is terrific on hounding the pg dribbling the ball up court and that will help Abmas on the defensive end. Hunter’s not a great shooter as he needs space as he brings the ball down when shooting threes. With the focus on Abmas, Hunter should have more time for catch and shoots. Did duke establish the game plan to limit Abmas? Probably and with Mitchell and Hunter not great shooters, it might be effective. But Texas is way more dangerous than ORU. If Abmas doesn’t have the ball in his hands, there should be lots of off the ball pnr’s with opportunities for the roller as well as Abmas This will be a fun season.

Maybe Callaghan can hire Greg as an assistant. He’s looking for a job.
  16. 80s was a great decade for teenager movies. There was a paradigm shift in advertising that focused on teenagers as well. That said these are my favorite 80s movies. This is Spinaltap - one of my all time favorites Do the Right Thing - entertaining as hell Raising Arizona - my type of humor Shoah - I expected to be bored , but the conversations were enthralling Koyaanisqatsi - really good to see while stoned at the Varsity theater in the 80s and enjoyed it watching stoned in the 20s. A great decade for foreign films introduced to the American market as well.

I want Tim Ream to tutor Miles Robinson at the National camps this summer. Make Ream a special assistant this summer while he’s mending his broken arm. Robinson turned down a renewal and should be moving to Europe.

What a wanker. <————————————————> Wanker Mensch
  19. It was Wolff with the assist.
  20. Notice the pass by Tsakiris soon after he replaced Luna.
  21. Yttv has fs2 so I’ve got games set to be recorded. Good news. US supposedly beat African power Senegal 2-1 in pre cup scrimmage. Bad news. Cowell scored both goals and is suspended for first game.
  22. The Comal was barely over the bank at its narrowest point yesterday morning. It’s now up 50 cfs to 200. Still below normal of 300 cfs. Every little bit helps.
  23. Patti Rocks. Independent film from 1988. Raunchy, funny, honest and insightful. A buddy road movie that is usurped by an independent woman.
  24. I like this list. https://www.timeout.com/film/100-best-comedy-movies
