  1. First of all, all of that is complete garbage. They've always measured themselves against The University of Texas, and they always will. Second, they just don't get it and never will. They equate "more students" and a higher acceptance rate with a better school. They are building Blinn Sr. College academically. They are behind Rice, UT-Austin, SMU, UT-Dallas, and Baylor academically and will continue to slide. Compare: "What starts here changes the World" with "The goal is to fill the state with Aggies to ensure that our donations for both academics and athletics outpace theirs for the foreseeable future." Sad, Sad, Sad.
  2. Rove actually was calling him "Robert Francis O'Rourke"
  3. I suspect that TX Sooner's argument is based on the fact that the official said "Personal foul. Defense No. 32. Horse collar tackle after the pass." Regardless, the official was incompetent in understanding the rule or incompetent in explaining the call.
  4. this is how it was listed in the play by play. Not as roughing the passer; as a horse collar. 3rd & 15 at TEX 37 (0:15 - 1st) Grier, Will pass incomplete to Simms, Marcus, PENALTY TEXAS horse collar tackle (Roach, Malcolm) 15 yards to the TEXAS22, NO PLAY, 1ST DOWN WESTVIR.
  5. Offensive holding is in the rule book; it probably can be called on almost every play; there is a degree of subjectivity to the calls. Defensive pass interference is in the rule book; it probably can be called on a number of pass plays where the coverage is tight; there is a degree of subjectivity to the calls. Hell, the b.s. defensive holding on DL who allegedly are trying to prevent the OL from reaching the LBs is in the rule book; it definitely can be called a lot more than it is; there is a huge degree of subjectivity to the calls. Calls of these ^^^^ types are going to be made and are going to impact the game. There is nothing Texas or any other team can do about them. If you don't want calls of these types to impact the game, out play your opponent to where the calls don't matter. But to call a penalty that does not exist is absurd. The NFL recently fired an official who missed a blatant false start. Whichever official made the call and the head official who did not respond with "hey, asshole, that is not in the rule book" but instead marched off the penalty, both need to be cut loose today. While that call alone did not cost Texas the game (i.e. Texas had ample opportunity to bounce back from the shitty call), the players, coaches, and fans in the B12 deserve better than to have officials on the field who do not know the fucking rules.
  6. you have a typo in #2 - should be Texas v WVa in #4, the three teams would not be 1-1 in head to head ... OU would be 0-2. Texas 1-1. WVa 2-0
  7. Maldonado named GG finalist. Would love to keep him and add a great bat at DH Key question for lineup is whether Hinch and Luhnow think Tucker is ready to be the everyday LF
  8. OLine better Sam inconsistent Johnson can't block for shit and forced a Frosh into the game on Play 1 and the Frosh ran the wrong route.
  9. To further support my argument that the Jimmys and the Joes are more important that the X's and the O's, do we really think Urban keeps a known abuser on staff if the abuser wasn't a top 5 recruiter? The primary focus of a college football program is talent accumulation. Just ask the middle of the road OC from Oklahoma who won a crystal football because he could convince talented high school football players to put ketchup on a Popsicle ...
  10. ^^^^ cute window dressing because the coaches knew they couldn't overpower f'ing Maryland!!! Same thing with Tech in the last game. Same thing with OkState in OT. They didn't "try to get cute," they "had to get cute" because that was the only option.
  11. Emory Bellard, Bill Yoeman, Hal Mumme, The Pirate are all just a few of the great offensive minds who came up with dynamic window dressing to change offensive football. I suspect that none of them could have produced with our talent the past few years ... primarily the (lacking)O-Line talent.
  12. ^^^^ this right here. There are really only seven plays in football: inside run; off-tackle run; sweep; misdirection (counter, boot, reverse); play action pass; roll out pass; drop back pass. Everything else (formation, personnel groupings, blocking scheme, option plays, RPO, route combos) is window dressing. If your talent on O is greater than the talent on the opposing D, the less window dressing you need. Bama beats most teams because they overpower them with talent. Same with Clemson. Same with OhState. Same with the 2006 NC team for us. Texas should always have enough talent to beat nine/ten of the teams on its schedule without "window dressing." It has not been in that position lately.
  13. Semi-serious question ... can we replicate Seattle's batter's eye at MMP?
  14. Hector Perez David Paulino Kenneth going north
  15. I don't think there are other Mexicans on the team ... Cubans? yes; Dominicans? yes; Venezuelans? yes; Puerto Ricans? yes ... Mexicans,? no
  16. Agreed. It is baseball. 162 games. Shit happens. Injuries happen. About this time last year the Stros got swept by the WSox. The plan remains the same: Stay ahead of the Tribe Get the SS (and now ALMVP) healthy Get a plan for the Pen
  17. If there's room in his wheelbarrow, AB needs to put the rest of the team in and carry them this week
