  1. Isn't mystery girl behind the Jayhawk mascot Coach Bro's taller friend?
  2. I see your point, but baseball is not football or basketball. Most get 1/4 scholarship at the most. I could see Texas or any school targeting solid but not top 10 rounds of the draft type players who can pay their own way, with the pitch being "you have a chance to play at Texas; we know you can pay your way; if you forego your 1/4 scholarship, it will allow us to offer more to guys who are going to get drafted high, thereby improving our/your team." I just find it interesting that Texas now has four EHS/Kyle Chapman kids, all from well-off families, on the team or committed. and p.s., Craig's daughter is D1 athlete too
  3. And I think the EHS connection is really a Kyle Chapman Select connection. Many EHS kids play for KC. Pierce's own kid played for KC, so he knows the program. Additionally, the with Colton, I believe that Pierce was at Rice when the oldest Rathjen played there. I wonder if the EHS kids receive any scholarship money. Or is Pierce offering spots but no scholarship dollars to solid players who he knows can easily pay their own way?
  4. Colton is Craig's son with second wife. So half brother to Jeremy and Beau. Colton has good speed but is not as big as the other two (yet).
  5. To follow up on HG's post ... Stay ahead of the Tribe Get the SS healthy Get a plan for the Pen
  6. Ben Verlander Ben Hicks, JV's best friend from high school and older brother of TIger's Hicks They were discussed on broadcast today
  7. But what about Church-hillary Clinton?
  8. Aggy is essentially Blinn Sr. College ...
  9. Have only been in Dec/Jan and Mar ... but good meals at Telluride Bistro; Butcher and Baker, and Chop House; Brown Dog is awesome for pizza; Rustico was so-so; 221 South Oak is overpriced; have only had drinks at Cosmo; as someone mentioned, not many great culinary spots in Mtn Village. Best spot, and an absolute must, is Allred's -- incredible views, great service, great meals. Also, if Alpino Vino is open in the summers, I'd go there too (it is on the ski mountain and ski-to place for lunch; accessible by snow-cat only for dinner).
  10. Yes, odds not good of both as WC. Right now, Astros are 84% to win division. Yankees are 50% to win division. I just want a dependable Pen, and a reasonable plan to use it, come September/October If Hinch wants to use guys only one inning, and set up a Dotel-Lidge-Wagner like system for 7, 8, 9, I think he needs to define the roles, go that way now, and start training the guys mentally for those roles. Relievers are head cases and need a bunch of coddling and positive affirmation. Come out and say "Kenneth is the closer and will work every save situation unless he throws too many pitches saving the prior X number of games." If Hinch wants to use whoever is hot or whoever is the best match up, he needs to start letting guys go more than one inning. Devo threw 9 pitches in the 8th on Sunday; Smith threw 9 pitches in the 7th last night; Rondon threw 10 pitches in the 8th last night. All were effective. All could have gone another inning if properly prepared/conditioned mentally and physically to do so.
  11. also a factor if (and a big if) both teams are WC and have same record. WC game would be played at Yankee Stadium
  12. Maybe the characters dance back and forth for the next episode and one-half, and then in the second half of the finale, Stan figures it out for certain and says something to Renee. While he goes to work to assemble the task force for a raid, she strolls across the street to the Jennings' place with a casserole and when Elizabeth and Phillip open the door she calmly says "Mother is expecting you." Smash. Fade to black.
  13. I was a commissioner in SBMSA 10+ years ago and see that things haven't changed. LOL.
  14. While I agree that it likely that someone gets killed in the end, here are two non-bloody endings: 1. Oleg gets Elizabeth's message. Oleg's side of the Party arranges extraction to USSR. The entire Jennings family makes it to USSR drops dime on the Center to help team Gorby rid USSR of old school folks like Claudia. Elizabeth is happy to help the head of the party and Mother Russia; Phillip is happy everyone is safe and alive, but misses C&W music; Paige is wondering why her parents risk their lives for this shithole; Henry is confused, misses Stan, but recognizes that the hockey competition is much better. 2. Claudia finds out that the Jennings are in touch (through Oleg) with Gorby's side of the Party. She plots to eliminate the Jennings. Oleg finds out and realizes that the only way to prevent bloodshed is to bring the Jennings in from the cold -- so he reaches out to Stan. Jennings are brought in and give choice of prison or dropping dime on the Center. Elizabeth zips her lip and is sent to Leavenworth KS; Phillip cooperates and is placed in Government custody to help Stan and FBI clean up the rest of the Center plants, while continuing to love C&W; Paige's involvement is not revealed and she resumes her life; Stan adopts Henry and pays his tuition so he can finish school and play hockey at an Ivy League school. Claudia flees or is arrested. Most likely to get killed: The Pastor - very odd/ominous timing for his return Oleg - Claudia might off him when she finds out he is in contact with the Jennings to prevent the plot against Gorby Claudia - Elizabeth never liked her Phillip and/or Elizabeth - show goes out with a bang via murder/suicide as Stan approaches their front door. p.s., Renee gets hired by the FBI and replaces the mail robot
  15. It is a mental health issue of some sort, but you may be correct that it something "new" -- some combination of unresolved anger; unrealistic/unrealized expectations. I don't know how to classify it. But the symptoms seem to be a male student who is marginalized to some degree; with few friends; who acts out in school to receive some attention (e.g. wears a trenchcoat), even if it is negative attention; who believes that he is not getting the attention/respect/whatever he is entitled to according to what he has seen/heard in GTA-type video games and/or movies and/or songs. Ultimately, he "snaps" and decides to do something about it. 20-30 years ago, he "did something about it" but starting a fight at school, because that is what he had/seen heard. Today, he picks up a gun or makes a bomb. The problem is entirely too complex to lay the blame on any one entity: -- Politicians (both parties) are to blame for not acting. -- Mental health industry is to blame for not acting and for thinking all problems can be solved with a pill and without counseling (or confinement). -- Parents'/Society's "snowflake" attitude is to blame for thinking that anything and everything is acceptable for a child (your child wearing trenchcoats to school doesn't make him hip, quirky or cool - he is emulating the Columbine killers). -- Gun lobby is to blame for not yielding on assault rifles and automatic weapons (I am a hunter and I've never had a need for anything other than a 30-06, 12/20 gauge). -- Entertainment industry is to blame for glorifying violent lifestyles in movies and video games. -- News industry is to blame for over-reporting these events.
  16. Co-coaching rarely works. There has to be a head coach with the final say.
  17. I coached a lot of youth football. A couple of points and questions, although admittedly I never coached 5 on 5 - just 7 on 7 and 11-man tackle. Are coaches allowed in the huddle? If so, draws your plays on paper and have them laminated. Show the plays as you call the name of the play. Also, you play like you practice, so follow the same routine in practice. Five plays is not too many plays, in fact it is too few. I tried to have the players memorize the same number of plays as their age; and that is the same play to the right or left. So, you should be targeting 7-9 plays, which can be run left or right. For tackle it was generally dive, off-tackle, sweep, counter, reverse, play action pass, quick pass, roll out pass (all out of shotgun). Would also add one to three I plays later in the season. Also, think about overloading one side. That is always a killer in youth football. If D doesn't match, you have numbers strong side; if D does match run your stud weak side where he will have more field to operate. Something like this (to both Right or Left): C Slot WR QB RB Can run QB off-tackle, QB sweep, counter to RB, reverse to WR, roll out pass to Slot on an out with WR picking or running deep, pass to WR on a fly. if the D does match the overload, have QB run to weak side and use athleticism
  18. Indeed, enjoy it while you can. Coached or helped Coach for 16 seasons. This is the first year in 20 that I don't had one of mine playing.
  19. 0-2 since D-Bag in green jacket threw out first pitch ...
  20. Thanks ... and Shaggy, Surly, 220/221, whatever it takes
